rafaam guys dont forget him
Dude it's a good card now, and will only improve as mage gets access to more high power spells. In this standard it's not a Tier one auto include, but it is far from garbage. I guarantee that this card will be a cornerstone in later Wild Renomage decks.
No Duplicates restriction is what kills the experimentation part. It's either play retarded Reno deck or gtfo. Could be fun in something like Pyroblast mage, or some fast / midrange decks.
The part of the expansion where blizzard forcing Priest Mage and Warlock to play reno decks with their new legendaries and Kazakus is just massively retarded. Like what is going to be the difference between 2 reno mages in MSG? 1 card at most probably.
I feel like soon Hearthstone will play itself while player will be just an observer of RNG fest (occasionaly clicking the obvious plays like a braindead). It is already the case with Midrange Shaman
Sorry to spil you the fun but...what exactly is retarded in a slow skill based Control deck (that is actually making games be fun) and isn't in a no-brainer fast paced deck that is only making people hating the game...?
And blizz is not FORCING Reno decks...it's just promoting them...alot of people like these kind of decks and hate the aggresion so this is EXTREMELY good i'd say. The games will not "play themselves" rather people will actually have to think before playing for once.
P.S.: Reno decks are all about expirementation actually...you can't net-deck a reno deck and hope to have the same winrate as the guy who made it even if u'r the same lvl a player as he is...30 different cards means ALOT of room for expirimentation and I can easily guarantee that 2 reno decks having the same cards diferent is almost imposible indeed.
(Also I think that more no dupes cards will follow eventually so it's not just reno decks...cause next expansion this deck is gonna be played without Reno, I hope at least)
What you typed above makes little sense. Especialy how it won't necessarily be reno decks. If you make deck without dupes including reno is just a no-brainer (otherwise it's strictly worse than reno variant), as well as Kazakus and this Solia legendary. So we already have at least 3 no-brainer descisions for a card choice in Reno Mage. Another no-brainers will be board clears (which are not so many), cards that generate value (like Cabalist Tome) and Card Draw engine. There you have it. Your reno mage deck will have the same basis as 90% of another reno mages without any variety. It's like Midrange Shaman Mirror.
And notice that when i say no-brainer it means your brain is not taking part in thinking process, it's just the obvious descisions, which even could be automated with some kind of a deck builder. The obvious choices is what kills the card games basicaly, there should always be another option which is not worse but take rather different approach to the game plan.
What defines a good card design is if it fits multiple archetype and variety of playstyles. For example, Auctioneer is played in Miracle Cold blood rogue, Maly rogue, some kind of fairly competitive Druid decks and so (at least 3 different deck types).
Violet Teacher is another example of versatile card that has a great design and can fit multiple purposes in different sorts of decks.
This card on the other hand is super restrictive and usable only in one type of a deck for the one class. There is literaly no room for experimentation with this one. Just put it in your reno deck, if the rng is in your favor you'll topdeck it and be able to use with Cabalist's Tome, Flamestrike or Firelands Portal. Just a super boring, non-versatile card for a one type of deck.
I would reply...but the above comment pretty much covers 95% of my thesis ( see what i did there....protestant joke...hehe ).
So the thing I think I need to emphasize is ( apart from breaking your dream world and saying that teacher ONLY runs in decks with alot of cheap spells and some minion buff and that's not versitale at all ) : no it's not that the RNG will help you combo solia with a heavy spell...that's called "your outs" if solia is an out for you ofc you wanna do that, if not ofc you're gonna wait for the perfect value play...see ? Decision making..."I'm gonna be real bad if i don't flamestrike but he might flood the board...do i solia or not ?" here's a desicion. Do YOU have an answer already to that question...? NO, and that's because it requires you to know the exact momment of the exact match it was asked. So we come to the conclusion that the game itself has alot of descisions with no easy answer, and that's an undoubted fact. Also the deck-building descision making part is something that leaves alot of options (but I can affor to let the above comment cover me in that).
Apart from the paraghraph above the enitrety if this comment is sponsored by "did it for the memes" non-profit international. :P
I dearly hope they consider "re-printing" classic set every one or two years, shifting some cards from other expansions and adventures into it. Similar to they way MTG re-prints it's basic set every year. One of the cards i hope gets into it and stays for a good while is Reno in order to keep decks like this always relevant.
YEAH, what he said!!
seems a bit underpowered for its stats, sure reno mage will be viable with this, but i think that it isnt powerful enough to justify playing instead of something like an Archmage Antonidas.
This looks like it might just make reno mage comparable to the other Kabal decks.
I mean, I get that you might want to prevent synergies that are too powerful, even in wild, but just outright saying you can't combo Inkmaster Solia and Duplicate is a bit overkill.

Brilliant
This card isn't that great. Priest gets a much better version of this type of card. Raza the Chained is so much better for 5 mana keeps up the tempo. However, for 7 mana for a 5/5 and you have to play a reno type deck is just bad. Even with out the reno requirement for the mana cost is still bad. For this card to see a lot of play they need change the mana cost to ether 5 or 6 and remove the reno effect. It will never see play in tempo mage which is a shame.
I think blizzard's intention with Raza the Chained was to give priest a reason to play highlander decks since, as you said, priest never really needed Reno Jackson. Raza the Chained is essentially a better version of Reno Jackson for priest because your hero power becomes a passive heal every turn. Specifically because priest doesn't need Reno Jackson's effect I think priest will be the most viable Highlander Deck when Reno Jackson rotates out of standard.
She has a stand!
