Nice card which will boost up early priest.
The only issu is that you must already have a minion on board ... :)
A good buddy to Lightspawn.
Make arena priest great again; up next for the common slot, 1 mana 2/4 potion of minioness
Finally, a priest early drop! It's lazy, but it's literally better than nothing, so...
I mean, I think it's good, but I think it's a bit worse than Dark Cultist (at least for constructed where priest struggles at 2-mana). It's absolutely wasted on an empty board, while Dark Cultist wasn't. Often Dark Cultist couldn't be removed immediately after being played, particularly if you coined it out. This would often allow the buff to get onto a larger minion, and +3 health is a lot stronger on a 3 or 4 drop than on a 1 or 2 drop.
Seems nutso in Arena, though. Your junk 2-drop you drafted just to draft a 2-drop will now eat an opponent's 2 for free, and still help you trade into a later drop.
And often, really often, your opponent would find a way to kill the Dark Cultist last, so the buff gets wasted. This card lets you chose your target, and use the bonus health immediately. This is really good.
Yeah, it's good. I'm just not convinced there's a big difference. I know I've bullied some early games with coin-Cultist. I know Cultist + Power Word Shield is really hard for an opponent to remove before you want it removed. I know it feels bad when your opponent is able to clear minions in sequence ending on Dark Cultist. However, I also know that if I miss a 1 and 2 drop (which happens far too often in Priest), it'll feel really bad to either play Kabal Talonpriest on an empty board and wiff entirely on the battlegry, or to have a dead card until I can play it with something else. And while it feels bad to have Dark Cultist randomly target your 1-drop instead of your 4-drop, I don't think it'll be that much nicer to proactively battlecry a 1-drop. The difference between the two doesn't seem that big in practice to me.
This is true. I would say the cards are basically the same, except Talonpriest is a little faster and as a result requires you to have a faster early game. It'll end up in how you build your deck and how your opponent counters it. We'll be able to punish people ignoring our early game more easily. And if they trade, it's advisable to have a backup plan, some other 3-drop instead. We'll see.
Some people are already planning on playing a stealth minion before Talonpriest. I used to (and still do when playing wild) play Shade of Naxx with the Cultist, to make sure the deathrattle finds a target, so I agree that stealth might be the key.
Sigh for Gilblin Stalker and Velen's Chosen. It'll be interesting to see what stealth early drops will be around, plus if there are any other good Priest buff spells. Having two different buff cards improves the consistency of stealth early drops.
This card will be insane.
Priest players crying right now, tears of joy.
Priest needed good early game it got some nice.
Welp, guess we will no longer "hear his call", and instead have to face this thing on turn 3.
Literally battlecry remake of Dark Cultist...
So, it's a playable Temple Enforcer.
It will be great in dragon priest. I'd rather play this then dragon wing technician.
Oh you will..
Are you mocking me?
You think this is funny?!
...So it'ss basically just a buffed Dark Cultist.... I mean, sure Priest needed something like that, but it feels like this just a desperation move to improve Priest.
Like...this card is just a bundle of overpowered stats with no real synergy other than improving Priest curve, giving arena priest stronger commons and overall just brute-buffing their early game.
Then again, Priest is pretty shit right now, so whatever, right?
