I think it draws as many cards as you discarded, like the Tiny Knight of Evil.
Hm. Fair enough - Wasn't familiar with that interaction.
Actually, you will probably draw your entire hand back. The card reads whenever you discard *A* card, not, "When you discard cards". It's the same wording for Tiny Knight of Evil, which gains two buffs from Doomguard. So, you should be able to draw back your entire hand.
However, with Deathwing particularly, not sure if Malchezaar's Imp would trigger on account of Deathwing destroying everything. Not sure which goes off first.
Usually it goes in order of the card text, so the imp would die first
If we look at the interraction between DW and a Sylvanas for your opponent on board; DW kills the Sylvanas first, Sylvanas's deathrattle steals the DW and then DW discards the hand of YOUR OPPONENT. So the Imp is dead before you draw cards, but I'm not exactly sure.
I mean, it's a good start for Discardlock to be a thing so you won't be completely in disadvantage after you lose you hand, but that's not how Discardlock will do enough to be competitive. What is needs is cards like:
-Devastating Missiles / spell / 4 mana / Deal damage equal to amount of cards in your hand x2 randomly split among enemy characters. Discard your entire hand. Now this might be broken, but I don't think it's that easy to deal 20 damage (can happen if you have Gadgetzan Auctioneer on board) to the face since it's split on enemy character. Take it as a C'Thun, only that after you play it you don't have any cards left in hand nor C'Thun on board. Not to mention even if you use it as removal, it's hard to deal with whatever happens after since again, no cards in hand....unless you play Discardlock. Then some bonuses.
-Shadow Demon / minion / 6 mana / 6 attack and 6 defense / demon / Whenever you activate a card that discards a card(s), deal 2 damage to all non-demon characters. Didn't want to to have too low health nor too high. Also note I wrote whenever you "activate" a card that discards card(s). Don't think of it as total board clear if used with card above :D
-Nether Portal / spell / 8 mana / When you play or discard this, summon 2 Nerubians (cause why not).
Why nurf Bane of Doom :(
Have to see if they add anything else to the "discard" archetype to make it worth it. Otherwise this card will not be played as Voidwalker and Flame Imp trump it completely.
Hmm a discard support card, very nice ! And now we need a Legendary that will return all discarded cards into a hand to make it a new deck type :D
Why do you think this is so bad? zoolock mechanic is about filling and attacking. Is actually a lot better than having a Voidwalker that is just a excuse to have a nice 1 drop in stats, the taunt is useful once in 10 games because the goal of that deck is not to defend. This card could make a lot more useful the Doomguard while destroying your hand or your change to turn the game around. Doomguard most of the time is a finisher or to set the final control of the board, but most of the time is just waiting to be played. I think is a decent 1 drop in stats and a pretty good in most of the situations with the 6 combo = You get 6/10 stats, a nice 1/3 body + 5/7 charge and you don't lose your hand. I think blizzard is not pushing the discard mechanic with this one, but it makes a lot more useful some cards.
Finally! I was really hoping they would release more cards with the discard mechanic like Fist! Once they reveal the other Warlock cards, I'll start refining my Discard Warlock. Now I just want to see the priest cards; they have really been keeping those under wraps.
I'm not sure about this card, it does make discard warlock better but, is it e?
I kinda doubt it. It's not like Warlock has trouble in drawing cards, even if he discards some. Unless they expect ton of em to be discarded. Then you play this imp into all discard cards. Miracle Warlock or smthing?
I have tried to build a discard deck a few times. It isn't a bad mechanic. It is a REALLY bad mechanic. The only thought I have every turn is. Why am I not playing Zoo?
Card draw is definitely not the thing that will make discard a thing. It is Warlock. Here have a really risky way to draw cards. Hero powers. Thanks dood, I'm good, I'll pass on that.
I saw someone thought that maybe a combo warlock that draws through its whole deck in record time, and that seemed cool...sadly it discards the key combo cards that is collects as it does so...rip miracle Warlock.
agree with you, warlock dont care about carddraw. doom would have be playable is other decks but for warlock? they have good aoe spells and rarly use them and they will overdraw if they would use it. doom for paladin or priest would be playable in some decks.
PLEASE stop trying to make 'discard-Warlock' happen. It is NOT going to happen.
Ofcourse they can make it viable if they release stupid broken cards for it. It's just that discarding your own cards is just not something that you wanna do, or can / will ever be a fun mechanic.
No matter what, it's always a coin flip if you discard Fist of Jaraxus or your Doomguard, which pretty much decides if you win or lose the game.
I could see this in a deck focused around Elise Starseeker. Instead of using her in a deck that stalls long enough to get the golden monkey you simply draw through your entire deck quickly to get to the legendaries faster. I mean the discard cards generally are pretty good at their mana costs if you ignore the whole discard thing so you'll probably end up establishing some sort of board presence and then be able to get out the golden monkey quickly... that said you'd probably end up with so few cards compared to your opponnents.
Turn one, imp of malchezaar. Turn 2 Demonfire (Or Demonfuse if you want to play that)
Why would you want to discard cards when you also could simply play them. Discard cards is simply too random, if you could decide what you want to discard, ok, but so... no thanks.
