Worthless in Constructed, OP for the most OP class in Arena.
This card really should not have been printed.
moar cards to casino mage yay
And yet another broken common card for mages in Arena. It's like the Flamestrike of single removals. Well done, Blizzard. Well done.
the thing about the 5 mana slot is that its the most polarizing of all the mana slots. yes you can get a 7/6, 5/6s, 5/7 charges, and things of that nature, but you can also get a lot of 4/4s, 3/5s, or a 3/3, all of which are only worth 5 mana for having strong battlecry effects. as a value card, its decent, but its not game-breaking. a lot of 5 drops are really bad despite the additional 5 damage, especially in the late game against NSKs and bog creepers in arena. it probably will not be as insane as people are predicting because of how bad the mana slot it is generating minions from really is, especially in standard constructed.
It is not nearly as polarized as the 2 mana slot.
The 2 mana slot, as we all came to learn from Piloted Shredder, could be game-winning (Millhouse Manastorm, Succubus), and it could be game over (Doomsayer, Mana Wraith, Darnassus Aspirant) It could also be a highly situational game winning card (Armorsmith, Lightwell), or a highly situational game-losing card (Fallen Hero [when your hero is a warlock], Ancient Watcher, Lorewalker Cho, Wild Pyromancer).
The 5 mana slot is actually pretty stable. You're going to be getting at the very least 6 stat points - which, if we value 5 dmg at 3 mana, means you payed 4 mana for 6 stats. Yes, that's bad, but it is not game-losingly bad. When you take 2 cards and "staple" them together into one, even if it is over-costed, it is often worth it because of the tempo it brings. Lava Burst + Spider Tank, I think I wouldn't mind paying 7 mana for those two together. The only result that I can consider to be potentially game-losing from this card is Naga Sea Witch, but the thing is, this card costs 7 mana so you're not going to be in a situation where your entire hand is unplayable. You're just going to have to survive on 1 card a turn. Karazhan could introduce more 5 drops that are bad for you to have at the wrong time, but even then.... the vast majority is a positive result.
I've actually won games where my Shredder spat out a Cho. Admittingly I was an aggro Mech Deck and the opponent was playing Control/Midrange, so every spell he cast to try to keep me in control was more fuel I could use myself.
Even then to your Naga Sea Witch it could have you be able to send out a whatever big card you have in your hand next turn (most probably turn 8) Bog Creeper North Sea Kraken any legendary you have. Then be able to push in the witch to kill it if possible and play something else or get a tempo ping. It isn't that bad and if you were to play this say turn 9 and it stays turn 10 you can send two big things out which is huge tempo. So honestly naga isn't even that bad.
Hahahahah, because Tempo Mage needed this.
This is like a Pyroblast, except affordable for a deck like Tempo that is not expecting to reach turn 10, AND it gives you an averagely powerful board presence.
(it could also literally be a Pyroblast if it summons Leeroy Jenkins or Doomguard.)
blizzard have a theme, every expansion druids going to get more ramp, warriors are getting more armor cause sitting on 70hp isn't enough, huntards are getting more stuff that goes face, rogues are getting a bad card and mages are getting better tempo spells
oh I missed warlocks get more tokens to buff zoo, downvote but search your feelings you know it to be true
Forgot Paladin getting more healing to make priest look worse, and priest getting more cards that seem very cool but actually suck to make priest function worse.
Mage arena buff AGAIN? BLIZZARD, PLS STOP! It can summon Leeroy so it will be 11 dmg FOR 7 MANA. And there are MANY 5 mana strong drops.
Nice to get from Cabalist's Tome, but not going to be played in the decks. 5-drops are relatively bad to summon, those have lots of battlecry minions. This is more expensive burn, but why would mage need more expensive burn with such an unstable outcome?
Nevertheless, I'm expecting animation for this card to be interesting :)
*Opponent has 10 health*
I cast Firelands Portal into the opponent's face, Firelands Portal summons Summoning Stone, Summoning Stone summons Prophet Velen and I win the game.
"Well played" - I say.
Looking at the released gameplay video, that doesn't seem to work as it'll deal the damage and then summon the minion.
I'm not sure about this either, I guess Bane of Doom has the most similar effect to this card, admitting you target Bane of Doom in a 2 health minion and it summons a demon with spell damage +1 (I know there are no demons with spell damage), would it deal 3 damage? If yes, probably would deal 10 damage here, if not, it would deal 5 damage and then summon the minions.
Summoning stone probably won't trigger as it also won't trigger when you play cards like shadow madness on an enemy summoning stone.
Bane of Doom your own 2 or 1 health demon and you get Malganis your minion does not get the buff to survive
