A watered down Herald Volazj
While I don't think this card is likely to see play the only reason I could think that maybe it would be used is if a C'Thun rogue deck is possible in which you copy minions that boost C'Thun's stats to deal a more devastating Battlecry. Other than that I just don't see much other use for it, it isn't like rogue doesn't already have ways to get a lot of copies of their minions.
Now that I think about it this card is just down right terrible, If you want to get a second use out of the battlecry then just shadowstep it
I said if you want a second use of Battlecry then just shadowstep it instead. As far as Rag goes it is still far better to just faceless manipulator it and have 2 full sized Rags rather than a full one and one that dies to anything
I mainly play rogue and all people hyping this card is too much because people who saying it's combo with Malygos,Ragnaros ,etc are forgetting it was already possible with the faceless manipulator for same cost ( actually one less). The only place this card shines is in case of battlecry minions and saving some minion for the end kind of combo.
Shadowcaster
Useful with battlecry minions.
And a extra 4/4 body
Faceless Manipulator
Can copy enemy minions too(Which is kind of big deal).
Copied body retains its size(So 8/8 ragnaros is better then 1/1).
Costs 1 less.
So we have everything its your decision which too use.IMO FM hardly sees play, so even this SC is kind off hype IMO, unless you have a damn good battlecry deck.
Sorry for spelling and grammatical mistakes , kind off typed this fast.
While Faceless Manipulator has more immediate value, the potential with Malygos is enormous. Remember the 1/1 for 1 Tavern Brawl where people would just get lethal from 30 health by playing Malygos for 1 mana? Say you have Malygos but not enough turns have passed where you have actually drawn your damage dealing spells. You can play Maly turn 9, Shadowcast him if he survives and then wait until you have the right spells for instant lethal.
You can also shadowcast your Shadowcaster, which means you can shadocast for 1 mana! Which means you can copy Malygos THE TURN YOU PLAY HIM, giving your opponent no chance to polymorph him.
really good!
i like it
People are forgetting the obvious. This is going to make silence way more powerful for rogues. Cloning the Ironbeak Owl.
Also anything with a decent deathrattle wins here as well.
Don't think Ysera or Yogg-Saron, Hope's End or similarily priced fat cards. Shadowcaster is better for the lower mana cards that you don't care for the body. This is better as rogues are not really known for going long game control.
Good cards to clone with Shadowcaster are:
Ironbeak Owl for more silence
Patient Assassin for more kill cards
Edwin VanCleef at only a 1/1 penalty
Xaril, Poisoned Mind for more cheap toxins
Sunfury Protector for more taunt
Acidic Swamp Ooze vs weapon users
Big Game Hunter for obvious reasons
Saboteur good vs control warriors and other HP heavy decks
Defender of Argus for obvious reasons
Master of Disguise very situational to clone this but it might be useful
Loatheb vs certain classes this would a great card to clone
Shattered Sun Cleric Nice cheap small boost to another minion
Reno Jackson this kind of end game cancer is enabled again by Shadowcaster unfortunately
The Black Knight for taunt heavey metas
Cairne Bloodhoof for a nice cheap Yeti
Sylvanas Windrunner for obsious reasons. Just watch out the clone is not priest stolen
Ragnaros the Firelord for obvious reasons
Shadowcaster is all about cards where you don't give a [insert profanity of your own choice] about the initial body. This is a battlecry/deathrattle/end of turn ability cloner.
If it was viable, it would already be a deck archetype : Faceless Manipulator in this case does exactly the same thing.
The thing that Shadowcaster adds is the ability to prepare a combo, or a big tempo turn.
It is not flexible enough due to it's mana cost though, if you use it late game you need to already have the board, so you should play Faceless Manipulator instead (there is no big enough battlecry effect that cost 5 or less to justify this card).
And if you play it for a matter of tempo, you lose some by playing a 5 mana 4/4 "do nothing" (same problem as Beneath the Grounds so unless you can copy an old god battlecry somehow, or a Antique Healbot but even then Shadowstep is better in 95% of the cases.
What happens to a Unearthed Raptor with a copied deathrattle if you use Shadowcaster on it? Does the 1/1 copy keep the deathrattle, or does it reset to a "clean" 1/1 raptor?
If it's the first, you may add a second deathrattle with the battlecry to the 1/1 raptor. Silence bait for sure, but i'm just wondering.
Thanks for your reply.
The reason why i'm wondering is that in contrast to Shadowstep or Youthful Brewmaster, you do not return the minion itself to your hand, but a copy.
And when the word "copy" is used in hearthstone, then all effects, buffs/debuffs are copied, see Faceless Manipulator for my best example.
But maybe you're right, and from intuition i would believe so as well, you just put a 1/1 copy of the clean minion into your hand, rather than a 1/1 copy of the exact minion in play.
Brann, coldlight murloc, this on the murloc.
Murlocs everywhere <3
Perhaps some synergy with Blood of the Ancient One, in non-competitive decks?
rag <3
Awesome card.
It fits in almost any rogue deck (Mill, Miracle, Oil, Maly, Raptor, etc.). It also has a decent body for it's cost - think of it as an Azure Drake without spellpower that allow you to choose whatever you need.
It's not broken on itself but it could be so abused to the point of receiving a nerf.
Here's a thought.
Archmage Antonidas
Malygos
Ysera
A few big cards that are insane in multiples that stats don't really matter for.
Maly for instance means that if you're playing a combo deck and trying to murder your opponent with spell damage it doesn't matter if they clear the first one, the next one is 1-cost and can be dropped along with a barrage of spells. The rain of fireballs from Antonidas just not ending is kinda fantastic, Especially given that, again, you can play this, and two fireballs on one turn, and instantly get two more. More if there's discounting involved. Ysera, well. Extra dream cards are always gonna be pretty sweet.
So how are going to get Archmage Antonidas on your side of the board?
