He said: "Mage is already strongest..", implying that they're the best atm, and this card will make them even better in the new and coming meta
Who you gonna call?
BLADE-MASTAH!
GvG is out, and Ben felt like there was simply not enough randomness in the game anymore.
Watch a bit more interviews with people around Hearthstone. They're not making it a secret that they are focusing on fun aspect of the game (which includes RNG and most players are interested in) and pro players are on the second rail. RNG is fun and fun is the driving mechanic of HS. Don't try to argue with upvotes or stuff like that, most HS players are casual and they want fun and they want RNG.

awesome. Literally the only reason why i was a little excited for standard mode was the removal of must include aggressively priced RNG cards like Piloted Shredder and Dr. Boom. But they didn't learn from their lesson and they're going to expand on that concept. If the game was balanced, you'd see a lot more decks played which would add much more variety to the game, but instead of balancing the game, blizzard would rather have some decks be OP so people spend money crafting them. So to make up for the fact of people all playing the exact same decks, blizzard came up with the brilliant idea of making cards like this that in the WORST CASE scenario, are slightly below average for their cost, and significantly better if you get an average or above average minion from the battlecry, so they're must includes. They want to force people to play these RNG cards to make the games look like they're not EXACTLY the same as they always are (only they still are exactly the same).
Needless to say, tempo mage is still going to be one of the most played decks, and this is going to be an auto-include in it. It's sure going to be a lot of fun turn 6 when you're finally stabalizing after the tempo mage's stupidly strong opener, then he just gets another big board out of nowhere with 1 card...
If Blizzard really wanted to make cards they could intentionally make money off of, they'd make things as strong as this this Epic or Legendary. This card and Piloted Shredder are commons that anyone who has opened 1 pack can craft. Hardly extortion.
Boom is a Legendary because it's a named character. The truth is most HS cards are based first and foremost on a lore or mechanic idea. They then adjust the rarity for the broad or narrowness of its applicability to different decks. Ever noticed that all the crazy combo pieces you have to build whole decks around (eg MC, Hobgoblin, etc.) are Epics? That's so they don't show up in Arena and make your deck worthless, or ruin a new player's day by denying them cards that would be more useful to them when first starting out building decks. Also, the idea is that if you really do want to build a deck around that weird mechanic, then you're probably willing to grind packs or spend some dust.
It is a very good Card itself, but does it fit in Mage archtypes? Reno and Control Mage yes! Tempo and freeze not so much! So i cant really understand why everybody is freakin out about this card. How many Control mages have you met on ladder this month? I dont think 1 Card will boost that deck to a tier 1 Deck. Especially because a lot of cards (healbot, beltcher) will ne gone.
My bet in the strongest Card: C'thun
u wot m8?
This card needs nerf
Come on guys its ok mage just needed something like that. This is the first time mage get a nice card in expansions!!!
More powerful than Shredder, and class specific. I think this card could legitimately make people quit this game, because it has just thrown every hope for Standard down the drain by showing us Hearthstone hasn't learned the Naxx' and GvG lesson.
While I agree that the card is borderline OP, it's not as bad as you make it out to be. It is a 6 mana minion and it's class-specific, so you won't be seeing it played nearly as often as Shredder. Now Arena is another story. It's basically a broken card in Arena, but it still requires you to make it to turn 6. In any case, we still have more cards to reveal, so the full impact of this card has yet to be seen.
Best (basically... imba) arena card ever. Being a common.
Also fantastic (imba?) in constructed.
Something went wrong. Waiting for a correction.
Mage already broken and lets give him another op card so everybody would be happy.
This should be at least a rare or even an epic. Especially when you compare it to most of the epic releases.
Ok let's prove how wrong you are (faceless shambler, forbidden healing and shaping, cabalists tome, hammer of twilight, twilight summoner, embrace the shadow, call of the wild, giant sandworm, DOOM! (I personally like it) and (ancient harbinger, scaled nightmare, validated doomsayer, vilefin inquisitor and blood warriors are situational but not bad)
don't they have yet to show the new mage legendary
Something just beated shredder in being the best card in the game
Doesn't seem quite equivalent - silverhand knight is a 4/4 (~3.5 mana value with a 2/2 (~1.5 mana value). This is a 5/5 (~4.5 mana value) with a 3 mana minion, without a battle cry (~2.5 mana value). So you pay one more mana, and get roughly 2 more mana worth of stats. Of course, no one plays silverhand knight in constructed, so that doesn't necessarily mean it's overpowered - I have no idea how it will turn out.
