This card is better for OTKs but it doesn't have a body attacked and only lasts one turn. (compared to Auchenai)
Or to force Circle of Healing trigger without damaging your Auchenai. I see this card as an enabler for a powerful priest combo deck.
Nice, because next turn you can heal again, Auchenai Soulpriest is also nice, but sometimes your stuck with no healing because of him, rarely but it happens
It's not a dead card if you also factor in that Circle of Healing also works with it. In effect, it's like a psuedo Auchenai Soulpriest, and works for any deck which requires another Auchenai or simply doesn't like Auchenai sticking on the board for too long.
Light of the Naaru, Flash Heal combo
Careful with your Hero Power, it is affected by this spell! ( works like Auchenai Soulpriest effect for one turn)
"Embrace the shaaaddoooow"
I was honestly expecting a card like this to come out eventually. It's 2-mana less then Auchenai at the cost of losing the 3/5 body. Sometimes Auchenai can be unwieldy or outright detrimental, like, say, you need to heal up to get out of lethal range, but there's an Auchenai on the board and you can't really kill it. Will this see play, though? I think that most people will still play Auchenai over this, but maybe some decks will. A burst/combo priest could use this better then Auchenai simply because the heal reversal is what they're hoping to get for their 2x Flash of Light.
I see myself building a burst combo deck that runs both. Combined with Bloodmage Thalnos, Azure Drake, and Northsire Cleric, I would then play Gadgetzan Auctioneer and Shadowfiend. All of these cards cycle through my deck really quickly, and Shadowfiend also counts as another Emperor Thaurisan trigger. This combo's consistency is insane. Many sources of Draw, Some extra Spell Damage and early game bodies incase I can't get 30 points for lethal, and quite a few ways to make my spells cheaper so I can do as much burst in one go. The main issue is there is a lack of an aggressive start with this deck, meaning if my opponent is out of range of my spells, then I'm done for. So the other option would be a Leper Gnome + Shadow Bomber kind of deck, but that feels very janky and cuts into the draws and spelldamage. But I totally see this decktype being played eventually. :P
Embrace the Shadow +Circle of Healing = Flamestrike for 2 mana.
Auchenai Soulpriest effect for less mana...
People already used that combo a lot. Some people only used soulpriest for that. Now you can use 2 mana for that and then play a minion.
Instead of seeing this in the same sense as Auchenai, see it as a way to combo damage. This into a Justicar empowered hero power, into double flash heal can be extremely deadly, with a total of 14 damage with only 6 mana used.
So far auchenai has much better value, this just takes a card slot (unless they add some nasty synergy cards with it), aaand priest is the weakest arena class and this makes Anduin even weaker probably but all of that doesn't matter, THAT GRILL IS HOT!
This is Epic so won't make priests worse in arena.
You're so wrong. This boosts my OTK deck to places it could never have gone before. Able to replace the soul priests and mind blasts for something else and potential for an even bigger combo.
Really excited for this.
Oooh, Exodia with this card would be 2x mind blast, Velen and Flash Heal (and it has to happen after Thaurisan effect). I've played velen's combo before, even reached legend with that deck archetype one season and I know it's pretty hard to pull off to have Velen and 2 mind blasts and this requires 2 more cards. Oh well, might try it, we'll see!
Aaaaaand shadowpriest
I love that priest is getting more ways to use burst dmg.
