Because we (will, more?) have many versions of the same card with different mana costs, we will have NOT an opportunity to throw boring cards troughout the game, hoping for a win with a single 30:30 C'Thun (well, you can try - GL), BUT rather to combine some of them with other cards, serving other ideas. To use those of C'Thun followers, which will fill the curve. And throw a maybe weaker C'Thun, but actually having a chance to do so. That's how I see it. And I think it's a rly brilliant concept.
I actually quite like this card, because C'Thun decks currently don't really have any C'Thun specific late-game minions (besides C'Thun himself and Ancient Shieldbearer for Warrior's), and this will fill the gap well, especially if Big Game Hunter gets nerfed.
It's also not strictly better than Boulderfist Ogre since it's a 7/6 and not a 6/7 (and a 6/7 is almost always better than a 7/6 by itself).
It's not powercreep. Its just vanilla. The +2/+2 does not add anything to the card, the +2/+2 is part of C'Thun. Its like saying " Whenever you play Boulderfist Ogre, give this minion +2/+2". Its C'thun's mechanic and if not for this he would be just a 6/6 for 10. If you wanna say something is off here then say its C'thun, because this is nothing more than a flipped boulderfist, and that's all its gonna be.
Tribes have value because tribe minions can receive benefits, and this can't.
And that's ignoring the fact that 6/7 > 7/6 regardless, meaning, if not for the C'Thun synergy, Boulderfist Ogre is just better.
Wow the old gods are holes buddies, they share everything including minions.
Well, actually the artwork is that of a Qiraj, which serve C'Thun in the lore.
Lol because the entire GvG set was OP by itself, I expect that most of these cards will be powercreeps
Probably only going to be ran 1 of, at that mana cost most people with a fair amount of resources would rather run legendaries. Will likely see some play still, though. You also typically wouldn't bounce this card back to your hand to further buff C'thun like you might for the other cheaper cultists, limiting the versatility of this card.
I'm still waiting for a 0 mana 1/1 Battlecry: Give your C'thun +3/+3 to make it potentially a decent idea to run 0 mana creatures in their decks. (Still probably bad)
Imagine turn 3 Bran and that creature you were suggesting. I think that may be a bit of a big buff and decent tempo for a more controlish deck.
Even if BGH isn't nerfed, who cares if this gets BGH'd? That's one less card they have to deal with C'thun.
Assuming you don't lose from the tempo swing of having your turn 6 undone with a 3 mana 4/2.
punch your C'thun in the face. wherever it is
give *your* C'Thun
The old Gods causing Powercreep and corrupting old cards since 2016.
6/7 or 7/6 for 6 is vanilla.
this card has some name problems apparently- cultist vs prophet
Prophet Skeram is a specific, named character in World of Warcraft -- a raid boss from Ahn Qiraj. These are Skeram Cultists, presumably followers of Prophet Skeram.
It's sure gonna be fun when a 20/20 C'thun comes onto the board.
How exciting.
I'm really hoping this is a mistranslation, because Prophet Skeram is a named character that should be legendary.
