Just change the little word "and" to "or". Done.
Attack face? +2/+2. Your opponent attacks this and the guy dies? +2/+2. You attack and kill a minion? +4/+4.
buuuuurrrn
The only time this will ever get more stat than Gruul (Who get his stat without even trading) is by wind-furying this and killing 2 things per turn.
I don't understand why this is legendary. Pretty rude.
I think I figured it out! This expansion is going to drop a card with a new mechanic that allows a minion to do its attack damage to another minion (kind of similar to savagery, but for a minion). This will work in such a way that The Boogeymonster will ... shit! I just re-read. Attacks and kills. DAMN WHY THIS SO SHIT.
So sure a designer reads this card like, "the community is going to hate this one... but we got to let it rip."
P.S I really did think I was onto something there and scrolled up to spell the card correctly for the orange legendary outline, only to read, "attacks and kills."
Of all the names Blizz could have chosen, they go with The Boogeymonster...
Hey guys, blizz just released some HQ art for this guy. If anything, I think the art is the only redeeming quality about that guy
Definitely better than the previous low quality image, but I'm not a fan of the anatomy. Mouths for stomachs not my thing.
Guys, The Boogeymonster isn't that useless, He has some pretty sick dance moves!
This is NOT a legend I will ever craft...
You do not want to pay 8 mana for that... thing...
Its stats are just... terrifyingly bad...
And that is why it is the Boogymonster... so that you will be afraid of opening it instead of ANY other legend...
I hope I never see this in my pack...
400 dust
sadly
i hope they buff this card
Has it been stated anywhere if the +2/+2 buff will trigger if the Boogeymonster is at 0 or -1 health after the initial attack, and therefore could survive an otherwise deadly trade by getting buffed back up to 1+ HP before dying so it remains on the board?
I'd be inclined to assume that it doesn't but the way that Avenge specifically works makes it seem like at least a possibility. With Avenge I know that there are scenarios where a minion is dead on board with 0 HP but gets hit with the Avenge and then stays alive. I don't know offhand how the buffs from minions like Dark Cultist or Anubisath Sentinal work in this respect, I could be convinced I've seen Cultist "save" a minion from death but I have played very little priest recently so I can't say with any certainty. And even with those in mind, those and Avenge are all buff from another source as opposed to a buff from the text on the card in question so I could also see there being differences in how they work.
That said, the card wording does leave it open for that to happen at least from what I can tell. It doesn't say "...and survives" like you see on Grim Patron for example, so there's nothing in the text explicity saying that the Boogeymonster has to survive the initial attack to get the buff. The difference could be significant. I don't think that even if it can get buffed after death that it would make this a good card, but it would certainly make it a much better one than if Boogeymonster can only be buffed by attacking a minion with less than 7 attack.
If the buff doesn't proc before death then you'd likely only see the benefit of the buff when attacking smaller minions, and more than likely attacking a minion with much less than the 6 life, and if you have to play inefficiently to get the benefit of the buff then it could quite easily do more harm than good. On the other hand, if you could attack into a damaged molten/mountain giant with say 5 health remaining, and Boogeymonster survives the 8 dmg by getting the buff before death, then that would seem to improve it significantly as it could kill minion worth something similar to it's 8 mana cost, and still remain on the board and need to be dealt with.
I wouldn't say that this would necessarily make it a good card, it still seems like for 8 mana that you can get a lot more value and consistency elsewhere, but it could be the difference between a sub-par card that maybe has some applications in very niche decks (or potential the odd arena run) and a truly awful card.
The death check for both minions happens at the same time, so there's no scenario where the game text comes into play if Boogeymonster is at negative health.
It might not be real now as i think of it... Just zoom in and see that art is not sharp, it's pixelated.. Compare it to others like new Ragnaros and Hunter's Infest. Someone trolling us with this crap but i'm not sure.
Well, honestly - card is bad.
But let's say - you are new to HS. You have no idea what decks you want to create or what decks are there in existance. And you might not care at all tbh. You open your first free packs. You get that and you get Bloodmage Thalnos. What will you like to play more as NEW player? Right - this.
It's just one of those cards which people play, because they have no idea what's good or bad. And they don't want to waste time on learning that. It looks good for them, since you kill stuff and it grows - looks fun.
I just think that blizzard puts some of those bad cards for people who don't care. And sometimes to fuck you over with bad rng with, let's say, Confessor Paletress.
Getting this from Confessor Paletress is probably the only redeeming factor of this card.
worst card ever
I love the art. Its all gnarly and cool. Such a supreme waste, lets hope they see the error of their ways and make it:
"everytime this minion attacks, add a nightmare card to the opponents hand"
2 mana card that makes ALL opponents other cards cost 2 more.
