If I only had one card in hand and i played Secret Passage, does it mean that when I get the cards back that I get the same card back, or that just get a random card.
If i draw out the card that I shuffled and played it, does it mean that I get a copy of the card, or just no card is returned?
Also, is it a guarantee that the cards you swap to the deck are different to the 5 added cards?
This card is helpful if you are low on cards, and either have a low mana deck OR a lot of mana for the turn you play this. In either case, this card is taking up a spot or two to find something/generate some draw, when you could instead just run more of the type of card that you want instead of this.
I don't imagine this working well in aggro, because it is a dead card in the early game, when you are looking to play your low costed cards (which you have a lot of already, and if you needed more, you could just run those instead).
So, I think this card has potential in a control/combo deck, if at all. If you can consistently stabilize the game with a wide range of cards in your deck, (as this itself will not directly influence the game and prevents you from naturally drawing those directly influential cards) then you can afford to use this as a means of finding a powerful card like Galakrond, Kronx or Malygos (to name a few).
The turn you play this card, it is good, potentially very good, but consider all of the turns you do not play it.
These are simply my initial thoughts. What am I missing?
Aggro Rogue (a good deck right now) is already getting love this expansion. Now it has two 1 mana reload to fish for lethal? Sign me up!
I think it will be a staple for the class and push Aggro Rogue to new high.
You will be less likely to be in position to find lethal because you are running this card, which does not itself push tempo.
not really, it's the same concept of running divine favor, a cheap reload, and the part of " when you could instead just run more of the type of card that you want instead of this" is nonsense, you're drawing 5 cards as an aggro deck so you're problably finding whatever you want, instant damage as weapon, evis, backstab or board as cheap minions, and it being a 1 mana card only adds to the upside of the card, you don't play divine favor at turn 3, the same way you usually don't play evis at 2 or edwin at 3.
But yeah, this cards just fits the midrange style better, it may help you find a necrium apothecary, heist baron and such
I think it's much easier to fall behind nowadays. Divine favour was permanent card draw, this card effectively only draws what you are able to use, and what is the likelihood that you're going to play 3+ cards the turn you spend this 1 mana, versus just playing the cards you do have and not floating 1 mana to do so. I think this card looks better than it is. 1 mana is not nothing. As a rogue you are pushing tempo and have no issue with card draw/generation so in that regard it's seemingly filling a need that isn't there. In terms of combo decks, yes, this card has potential.
This will make Miracle decks much more consistent, and since Miracle is my favorite archetype, I'm hyped! I do see this being nerfed to 2 mana in the future possibly.
makes tracking in hunter look like trash.
I mean considering it get rid of the other two cards you didn't choose, tracking is pretty trash
Tracking does thin out your deck tho, which is fantastic when you get a "good tracking" leaving you with removing minor minions / spells in order to increase the likelihood to draw into Brann, Zephrys or Nagrant Slam.
Exactly and it will enable combo with any cards drawn for 1 mana. Wow!
Infinitely broken... 100% Nerf
In aggro decks this is like a 1 mana draw 5. Stupidly broken
Those cards die after that? I don't know if any deck will run this. It'll be a dead card until late game, for finding lethal. But with lackeys... Oh boy.
They don’t die. They go back in your deck. This can be used at ANY point in the game. If you don’t have any cards to play, play this and find something to do. It’s a 1 mana tax to find the card you want to play at any point in the game.
Oh! That makes it more powerful. Good in Highlander or combo decks! Other than that, I don't know if you'd run it on a tempo-based deck. I mean, it'd be a dead card anyways.
But as I said before, what scares me the most of this card, is the mere existence of lackeys. In those scenarios, this card works something like a more controled Evocation.
I don't see what lackeys have to do with anything. You can play this with 0 cards in you hand and you will still get to see 5 new cards. It's like a temporary glide that doesn't affect your opponent. It will be great in tempo. Don't have any good cards to play? pay 1 mana and find the right card just imagine that if you would float a mana anyway, it could be better to play this card.
I mean, spell lackey will give this from time to time. Also Cobalt Spelkin and that new 2 mana card, if those ever see play in some Rogue deck. Rogue can generate a shit ton of lackeys. Don't you think getting this from a discover is dangerous? It means that your opponent can generate a second hand with lackeys for only two mana. I see more dangerous that, than your opponent of this running a copy in his deck lol. How do you play around that?
why are you concerned with lackeys? you can't even put them in your deck.
I'm assuming the 5 cards from your deck are random?
