Second, I think that Blizzard likes the "joke" aspect that comes along with Magma Rager. That way it is funnier when recombobulator or unstable portal result in the worst card. There always has to be a worst card, and now Magma Rager has been put in its place even harder.
Considering Ben Brode said they wouldn't buff cards, I don't understand why they are directly powercreeping like this. Seems hypocritical, why not make Magma Rager a 5/2 instead?
Magma Rager is only meant to be used by new players, like Ben Brode says, "New players need to understand why X card is bad", and we all learned when any AoE or simply Moonfire (probabbly the worst spell in the game) killed it.
Ice Rager is not a good card in constructed either, but it's a nice card in arena sometimes, and it's nice to have more picks on arena.
I believe they didn't buff Magma Rager only because of the new players.
Besides, some of you saying it's because they will get more money. Well, who would pay money just so they would get this card?
And yo, come on, this is a card game. Some cards will be better then other ones, and as long as they are not unbalanced, that's fine. And I must say, just because Magma Rager is a terrible card, it doesn't make Ice Rager unbalanced
I don't agree with the addition of better counterparts to basic cards in expansions. It makes basic cards look like brittle tools new players are forced to use until they can grind enough cards from packs.
That said, I like the stat spread on Ice Rager. I wish Magma Rager weren't just a weaker counterpart though.
They're called basic cards for a reason. Players are supposed to want to upgrade their collection, that's one of the defining aspects of a collectible card game.

I expect new cards to come soon, to make Magma Rager viable once again! I made an example:
What Nightmarish depth of your soul did you plumb to inspire that 'artwork?'
Nevermind. +1
taken from card revial post, but SOO TRUE...
A repost got more points than my OC... I'm sad now.
Then why not just buff the "broken" card, instead of power creeping it?
I don't know about you guys but I would play Magma Rager over this to counter Vol'jin
There can only be 1 Magma Rager
I find that Magma Rager is the perfect solution to Hunter's Mark. Ice Rager gives Hunter's Mark a target, completely unplayable.
This comment! Soo true!
Because there are only so many iterations available. It's fine that some cards become obsolete. It's fine. I promise!
First of all, I do agree completely.

Neither of this cards are meant to see serious play, Blizzard is just making a joke by referencing the original. Calm thy tits.
Starving Buzzard and Undertaker wish Blizzard wouldn't change cards.
Because more pack$$$$$
Why waste the name and the art when you could buff magma rager and make this card completely unique.

This is not okay.
Yes, yes it is.

I am both sad and happy.
