Same problem! I was playing mage vs druid with improved hero power from Justicar Trueheart, i played Sideshow Spelleater but its battlecry didn't trigger for me too...
I was playing paladin against a warrior , and it didnt activate , maybe it was because he used his hero power so it wasnt showing the hero power? I dont fkin know
Same here. Was playing in the brawl as mage and druid used Sideshow Spelleater and it didn't do anything.
The only thing odd about the game state was that I had an Eaglehorn bow equipped from Blingtron.
It's definately best in rogue and warrior. If you run your own weapons in rogue, the hero power is worthless. Rogue by far has the shittiest hero power in the late game and is only really decent when youre using bladeflurry and poisons to clear the board. Rogue is the only class that will ever pass a turn without even hero powering, so pretty much any other power is better for you lol. Warrior's hero power is also pretty bad, especially late game where is when you actually want to use your hero power lol. It's bad because it doesnt matter if you have 60 hp, because when you lose board control late game and you have no more brawls, youre fucked and thats when you lose. Mage hero power + execute is ridiculous.
What weapons would you run yourself in Rogue? None of the current Rogue weapons really see play in Constructed and Poisoned Blade certainly doesn't seem like it'll change that trend.
perdition's blade is pretty good. Assassin's blade is really good too. And cogmaster's wrench is a 1 3 for 3 and gets 3 charges with poison buff and it's just 1 more mana than hero power, so I think it's fair, even without a mech deck. You could even run bling-o-tron. The world is your oyster, and with another class' hero power, you may not even need a weapon
Assassin's Blade does not see play because it's an auto-loss if your opponent plays Harrison Jones and often even Acidic Swamp Ooze. Cogmaster's Wrench costs 1 more mana than your hero power, but remember that unlike with your hero power, you need to use a card to pull out a Cogmaster's Wrench.
But who knows? Maybe a crazy new Rogue archetype will come out of nowhere with TGT that is significantly less reliant on its hero power. I will say this, though; Sideshow Spelleater is a relatively late-gamecard. The Rogue hero power is the only hero power that can potentially do more than 1 damage to a minion per activation, but the tempo from that peters off as the late-game approaches and you want to be able to use a hero power for value very turn. In that case, maybe stealing another hero power could be worthwhile. (Not for Oil Rogue, though, where your hero power is needed for the crazy burst that defines the deck.)
you could just use your hero power before the spell eater too. Like you said, the crazy bladeflurry burst usually sits there and you arent ready to pop the cherry, you just sit there not using the hero power for like 4 turns in a row
Wow the golden effect on this card is absolutely fantastic!!!
If only this card said give your opponent your hero power, then it could possibly see some play. Right now it's up there with Poisoned blade and Mogors champions as cards that suck.

I just know that when I try out this card for fun, I'm going to have mirror matches 3 times in a row, or be dead before I can play the card. Then, the one time I'm about to copy a hero power, my opponent will play this first.
Actually, this might be OK in control hunter. That hero power is useless in the archetype, and Steamwheedle Sniper isn't nearly as good as I had hoped. Problem is, I want Highmanes and Sylvanas on 6.
