This card isnt for midrange shaman, is more for a control heavy shaman. So you would have plenty of big minions for joust.
Joust is randon you dont control the minion that will joust. Half of midrange shaman deck is of small minions.
Love Blizzard for strengthening control decks, good times are coming
cards in the meta that heal the hero: light of the naaru, holy nova, holy fire, earthen ring, healbot, lay on hands, guardian of ancient kings, ancient of lore, siphon soul, and alextrasza. what do they all have in common? secondary effects. let that sink in for a second before you judge this card.
This might shift the aggro-meta since if you stabilize on board and manage to win the Joust with this, which should be favored towards you if you're playing control vs. aggro then it becomes an easy win.
Auchenai Soulpriest + Thoughtsteal say hi :P
people should undestand that winning joust with zombie chows, norshire, pyro and other crap wouldn't happen.
people should understand that joust is just a crappy mechanic that won't change anything in the meta.
Great, now that shaman's mid-late game is secured with Ancestral Knowledge and Healing Wave, need to see which cards to secure early game, which is like the stage where shaman loses 90% of the time.
#Healaman (Midranged Healaman)
I saw Antique Healbot as a problematic card since it outclassed healthemed classcards like Guardian of Kings or Holy Fire. Now with Flash Heal and Healing Wave we see a heal power-creep to balance Aggro Decks. While this helps to make a greater variety of decks possible it also makes a Paladin Theme nearly trivial. I hope Blizzard is concerned about this trend.
Tuskarr Jouster is not enough.
I wouldn't be too worried Valentino. You are correct that Priests and Shaman are getting very snazzy heals, but they have few and do not change the board.
The highlight of Paladin healing is budget, quantity, and flexibility.
The mana costs are not prohibitive. Holy Light offers 6 health sustain for 2 mana, allowing players to easily budget in their early turns.
When facing aggro decks, often you do not need a single healing card, but continuous heals. Paladin has MANY heals. Holy Light, Guardian of Kings, Lay on Hands, the new Tuskarr Jouster. My typical match against a Face Hunter is them bursting me down to single digit health followed by me healing myself for multiple turn in a row until my board eventually finishes them off.
Paladin heals are not tech. Many of the most reliable cards are minions with a health restoration battlecry. If you are fighting against control or midrange, the card gives you a big body to wrestle for board control, Flash Heal and Healing Wave do not because they are strictly Face tech. The one shortcoming of Guardian of Kings is its mana cost. With the addition of Tuskarr Jouster, we will be able to make that play sooner and buy time to play Guardian of Kings itself after Tuskarr.
I dare argue against the Paladin theme being overshadowed by other classes. We still have the most powerful healing (Healing alongside bodies is the most powerful). Tuskarr Jouster is not only a power card (Too many stats for way too little mana, for control decks), it strengthens already existing class cards thanks to all the time it buys us to heal.
Remember, Healing Wave is one card. Shaman have to cycle for it desperately if they want to survive against Face decks. My current Paladin deck manages to deal with Face decks easily thanks to a high density of healing and cycling cards in my decks that allow me to reliably dig for heals. One card is not the bane of decks, it is multiple cards that you need.
Finally a shaman spell to heal Ysera!!
