so basically a 50-50 for a bigger Sunwalker
seems like a solid card!
Done by Gabe from Penny Arcade. He also did Kill Command and Leeroy Jenkins though this one's a little closer to his recent style.
Edit: Source
I actually came here just to see if anyone else was discussing how blah the artwork is, glad to see someone agrees!
I feel that this card might get into handlock and other late game decks even may result in creation of new decks that well be based on having removal early and big minions later. Seems to be powerful in a good deck.
I'm curious to see how this card is used. I could see it being played in control Paladin. I love the art also, it reminds me of Avatar/Korra artwork.
The "reveal 2 minions" mechanic is really stupid imo. It takes skill and creativity out of the game. If I'm playing an inventive deck vs a netdeck, i already know every freaking card in his deck but he doesn't know mine. It just makes the game more mundane and less like a game. OK heres the type of deck you're playing, oh he's playing a murloc deck but hes playing intelligently, keeping them secret, and is waiting for a big power turn to reveal them? Well too bad buddy. If they made it not even reveal the cards, but have the same effect it'd still be really stupid because it's RNG based. If they want to slow the game down, they should just make more early game taunts like deathlord. They should make a 2 mana 4 4, or 3 4, with "can't attack and taunt". Wouldn't be OP, wouldn't buff handlock because they already run taunters anyway for taunting giants and drakes. If they want to slow down the game, they have to make it so you don't have to run as many early cards. It doesn't matter if they make good early cards for slow decks like blackwing technician, because they require multiple cards to work. They just need to combine cards like ancient watcher + sunfury to open more slots in your deck. AND FFS, MAKE CARDS THAT PUNISH MECHS.
This is one of my favorite cards yet, it has so much potential. It screams Ramp Druid since the deck is already playing super high cost cards like Ancient of War, Ancient of Lore, Cenarius, Kel'Thuzad, etc. it would just make sense for this to be included as one of the big taunt creatures instead of something like Sunwalker which in some cases it would be strictly better than. Granted you'd be revealing something like KT and that could be a big giveaway to your opponent as to what they need to look out for but in the grand scheme of things it would only make this card more threatening since if they don't kill it then you would have the potential to get so much more value out of it through the use of something like KT.
Awesome card, but they really should make Joust a keyword, it looks ugly all these cards with the same big text.
Edit: well, I guess it isn't only a visual thing, it affects cards like Nerub'ar Weblord.
Seems like a potential fit in Taunt Druid
You, sir, have obviously never played priest. Priests do not only rely on the 2 cards in their deck to take out big minions, or else priests would be squashed like a bug.
If you want to use this cards (or all other cards with this kind of deathrattle) you must make sure that in most of the cases you get the devine shield and taunt. Therefore you need a lot of high cost minions in your deck to ensure that. So we probably see this in some control decks and maybe we see a deck build around this mechanic.
So far i am not a big fan of this mechanic and i am sceptical. On the other hand i am really curious about how this cards will be used.
Can we officially start burying face hunter yet?
So... it might be a Sunwalker that's vulnerable to SWD. Maybe. If you're lucky. No thanks.
After looking at the video of the new Joust mechanic, I wonder if this will work well with Nozdormu on the board ;)
If control decks start frequently using this in the new meta, Black Knight is going to become relevant once more. :D
The type of decks that play The Black Knight would also be slow, so the Master Jouster may lose the joust.
Pretty danm good.
why is this not a paladin card?
Same reason Sun Walker is not. Because you touch yourself at night.
A conditional taunt? Interesting, color me intrigued.
Anti-aggro card? I feel like it should have taunt even if you lose the battlecry.
