Might make midrange rogue good enough to be played?
To the people who are bemoaning that this doesn't quite fit into any of the current Rogue decks... Hint: THAT'S THE POINT.
Seriously though, I really hope TGT shakes up the meta and slows it down a bit, and not just temporarily and superficially. I'd love to live in a world where I actually have the tools to deal with decks that can currently kill you from an empty board and full health in one turn (*cough*Patron*cough*).
One step closer to my dream of control rogue
Oil rogue is a control deck though.
Turn 4 or 5 for a 5 mana 6/7? Really nice.
Yeah it will avoid BGH, but if you oil it, this will become an instant target, unless you finish the game in that turn this will die.
Tho it's 6/7+3 from oil, +4/2 wep (6/2 with just one Deadly Poison) you hit for 15+6 with Blade Flurry, that's quite lethal.
very good in arena, not much in constructed IMO
LOL i thought, it had 3 damage like Fire Elemental. Now i understand the downvotes ^^
how often do you think you are going to get to coin this out on turn 4?
Boulderfist orge is just as good if not better than this card in most cases.
Not saying this is a bad card...just that it is not some "awsome turn 4 boulderfist orge" people are trying to claim it is.
And to be honest...I find it pretty boring. Granted its a common so cant expect much but still...first poisoned blade (an epic) and then this doesnt get me really excited for rogue.
Turn 4 [card]Boulderfist Ogre [/card] with The Coin or combo with Backstab / Preparation on turn 5...
Oh give me that!!
Love this card and looking forward to using it. Turn 4 coin and then this big boy as a 6/7.
Could possibly a good turn 4 play with the coin to activate the combo.
Other than that i think this will be a late game big body.
At least it's better than Bolvar when you top deck it in the late game...and it would not look too bad when got silenced
A Boulderfist Ogre for 5 Mana?! I can see this getting a great deal of value if the meta is successfully slowed down enough by this expansion.
Of course, we've not seen many other Rogue cards yet so lets just go with what we do know.
Yay
+ It's BGH immune - 6/7 is a fantastic pairing of stats. Many cards in the game that we use most of the time (Dr. Boom) would be even better if their attack was reduced down to 6 in order to evade BGH. When you also have the possibility of 7 or 8 health Totems from Shaman (and what ever other shennanigans this expansion brings to us) there might be a need for heavier bodies on board in the mid game.
+ It's ahead of curve - Like I said, its a Boulderfist Ogre when combo'd. The Coin, Backstab, Preparation + Eviscerate/Blade Flurry/Fan of Knivesetc all make this a 6/7 for 5 play and frankly if I have to spend mana inefficiently to combo this it's not as punishing as it could be with the strength of the body.
Nay
- It takes up our precious 5 slot - I can't objectively analyse this against its competitors right now as we don't have the full list and it would be pointless to do so but as already has been mentioned this is something we're not used to seeing in Rogue. My first thought when I saw this was Fireguard Destroyer but with solid stats and no overload for a single turn delay. Of course the natural reaction will be to compare this to Azure Drake but I think it's unlikely that we will need to choose between the two because as others have said, they do completely different things. Azure Drake cycles through our deck and provides us with extra reach on our Blade Flurry and Eviscerate. The spell power and card draw are the attractions of our faithful dragon and I think that if you run Shado-Pan Cavalry you will not be looking for spell based control but a more minion based board control deck. Like I said before though, we need to wait and see.
- Weak to silence - Although I won't be too upset if this is silenced for the sake of the combo bonus it is technically worse than not being a valid silence target at all. The impact will more often than not be negligible or maybe even a benefit to you though.
Activating combo is not an issue for us most of the time but lets say that you are in a top deck situation - at 3/7 it's not great but it does have the potential to survive a turn if your opponent's board state isn't too developed. With that being said I am very excited about this card and I hope there are more interesting dynamic changes for Rogues. I would welcome the opportunity to break away from Oil. I'd love to be able to surprise my opponents again.
It's nice, rogue was my favorite class one day, but I don't think we will see this card, 'cause combo cards are hard to use, Kidnapper shown us this. However, this card with Backstab is quite awesome... 6 attack is the second best attack value possible, since it cannot be targeted by BGH.
5 mana for a 6/7? Good stats, but ultimately it's just a big body. I think the higher the mana cost the less an above curve stats matter. It's better than boulderfist orgre, but this is only one mana less, and boulderfist orge is not played.
I would love to see Tempo Rogue come back and this looks like the type of card that could work in that, but the 5 slot is very very competitive slot so not sure how it will be used. It is a common though, so maybe see a lot of use for budget decks.
Pretty bad card in constructed, requires to be combo'd to be playable and contests with the incredibly important 5 slot, not to mention tempo rogue hasn't work for a long time now, I doubt this will be in any deck. Amazing card however in arena.
For anyone wishing to downvote me this competes with popular cards of tempo rogue:
Azure Drake
Loatheb
Sludge Belcher
Skulker + more
if you coin this out you're only save 1 mana for a body which usually will be killed instantly, you risk no being able to coin out more important and potent tempo plays. 1 card like this cannot form a new deck, please refer back to skulker that was overhyped being the godsend to tempo, yet it's a ok card at best.
A new panda! PogChamp
Not that Venture Co. Mercenary is considered very good, but this is a much better version of that for rogues.
