C'mon, Rogue doesn't need another 5 mana minion, it's already impossible to put Dark Iron Skulker in a deck because you NEED Azure Drake, Antique Healbot, Loatheb, Sludge Belcher... i can't see this being played in constructed because of that.
Good arena card tho.
Sludge belcher in oil rogue?
edit: So i do see a variant running belchers, but they are by no means necessary to the standard oil rogue.
I don't read the word "oil" in his post, do you?
i'm not saying only in oil rogue, rogues in general have trouble finding space to put new 5 drops, i don't think this guy has what it needs to make the cut.
Just my opinion that if everything is "NEEDED" in an actual proper meta deck that deserves "not a single change", therefore we will never change anything. So, we will just have to wait for "50%+ matchups just to "tech"-in something like a Kezan Mystic right, it took some decks a while to switch it in (every now and then).
Disregarding "tech"-ing in a card for 50%+ matchups though, so decklists become as strict as like the "Standard Handlock" we will always feel like it has the strongest fundamentals, so how will TGT compete (The BIGGEST question here is how much will people stray to change for TGT?), just like any other meta aggressive deck, who will try new cards.
This card competes in a combo sense to hold against people who still play Boulderfist Ogre. So, to play this card, like people have mentioned, From your given list of certain cards, Sludge Belcher might be too defensive for Rogue to fast push, Antique Healbot is due to "the old using Life as a Resource".
They will have to add in that Target Dummy or Annoy-o Tron as a "combo-activator" while Wisp may still potentially targeted by Mortal Coil, not that I would Coil a Wisp, I am just saying it reduces me to Tap for my next Card (like any learning/experienced player would understand that you can hold a specific card for certain things but sooner or later you gotta use it or you can keep and trade 2 creatures + coil this above Shado-Pan Cavalry, just like killing a Boulderfist Ogre (the old "at least 2 for 1" ever since Face we hardly hear the old 2-for-1 anymore).
But like you said, it will be good in Arena because most people will definitely play 2 cards at a time every turn for almost any class unless their hand from mulligan is all of their late-game.
I made a generalization - i figured it was safe to assume he was speaking of oil rogue, since it's really the only competitive deck seen.
Hmmm.... i guess it is amazing card for the arena, but in ranked mode, it is not rogue play-style you know, so it is not card for the high ranked matches.
I want compare it to Boulderfist Ogre, when you combo this minion with one mana spell it's the same card as ogre+effect of this card, seems good? I think not much BUT! If you combo it with 0 mana spell like Backstab this guy would make sense, Big guy on board and clear of one little minions in 5 turn? Okey but what if you don't have any cheap combo activators? Rogues sometimes hold more expensive cards when they use early cards on enemy minions if they play aggro.
I just wait for good deck brewmaster like Kolento to make it work, this card have potential but i would see it in deck with Dark Iron Skulker and some weird combos with cards like Shadowstep, maybe in Nozdormu Rogue?
well we might get hyped for this card just like we was for the Dark Iron Skulker and get disappointed at the end we need to wat before we can evaluate this card properly
hmm so NEW META Pint-Sized Summoner and COIN on turn 4 for some rogues.
I liked the +attack combo mechanic more than I liked the minion itself.
Seems decent to me, and usable in some decks. I do however wish that Blizzard put more cheap minions with this combo ability - maybe a 1/2 that could get +2 on combo, or a 2/4 that could get +3 in the same way
5 mana 6/7? sure why not
The fact that this cards doesn't fit in the current rogue decks, but has pretty high potential makes it so interesting. At least people will try to make it work and that might lead to a new viable rogue deck.
I think this card is pretty good, I just don't think there is a deck out there (yet) that it will fit in.
C'mon guys. It's fine as a common card.
Actually theres no much hope about the card, it is one of the three minions with combo (and one of then is kidnapper). The agent is worth it by itself and it has the adition of its combo (that also has inmediate effect on the board, not like this), but this minion need the combo to be "good" and it is 5 mana, a very hard spot to combo, just relying in the coin or backstab to grant it at turn 5, and if you wait more, you could posibly play another card like Sylvanas or Boom. Finally, it is just a vanilla card that if u have a good hand to activate it, recieve an improvement to the category of 6 mana vanilla. If the meta doesnt slow A LOT i dont see it recieving much use
Beginners actually have Bulderfist ogre that is probably better than this
Target dummy and wisp synergy. I not saying its a good one, just throwing the idea out there but if ever it does become a thing.. You heard it here first!
Sadly, it's just 5 mana Boulderfist Ogre, which you have to play after another card, so often (w/o Coin and Backstab) you won't be able to play before turn 6, so in many scenarios it's just an Ogre.
I'd still prefer Ogre Ninja over this guy, and Ninja doesn't see much play in Oil. So I call wait for more cards to unravel to see new possibilites for Rogue decks. Maybe even Poisoned Blade will be okay, if Rogue gets a guy who gives you discounts on equipping a weapon card, like Sorcerer's Apprentice.
I just did an Oil deck using Ogre Ninja. It works fine around 50-65% win rate, name "Golden Spiteful Oil".
