Imagine if all classes had secrets. Then secrets would be a lot more interesting and Kezan would make for stronger plays instead of being a dead card 66% of the time,
Yes. as not all cards are meant to be good. Some are in fact just pack or arena fodder. Cards that will never really see the light of day in constructed. No, this is not a new tactic from card games in general. In fact, its a very old tactic for a card game to do this. As it is to get you to buy more packs unless you wanted to pay a bit more for individual cards via dust in Hearthstone's case. Welcome to the world of capitalism.
Nice on arena with Power Overwhelming 6/11 no minion loss... who knows
I'd prefer it if the Inspire effect was a Battlecry so we could laugh about this being the worst card ever. As it actually is, it's just an ordinary bad card that's worse than some commons and takes up your packs rare slot for no reason.
Warsong Commander + Coldarra Drake + Summoning Portal + Maiden of the Lake on the board - that all what you need to reveal this cart potential.
Shadowstep would also be good for that combo hmm?
Why would anybody play this card? It has bad synergy with the Inspire mechanism Blizzard is showing us with this new expansion and it doesn't even compete with other 3-drops close to it's stats Spider Tank or Blackwing Technician.
Spider Tank is garbage against most 4 drops and Blackwing is the equivalent of Tinker Tech. You're argument is invalid.
You must think Druid of the Flame is garbage too.
I'm talking about 3 drops if you didn't notice
every 3drop is garbage against 4drops, that's the game rules
I also talked about pure stats, and regarding the text on this card, most 3 drops are far better than this
Actually it does compete with spider tank, they both have 7 points of stats. it's meant as an anti aggro card. kind of like a less flexible druid of the flame.
Yeah, because everything I mentioned was not a 3-drop *yawn*
I just mentioned the most overplayed 4 drop, of course it's going to get shutdown by it.
There is HS rule that a 4 drop must completely shut down a 3 drop. Look at this card vs Cult Master
If you are talking about pure stats, than you have less room to complain about this card.
I voted for the other card as well, but at this rate, I wonder if it wasn't just another junk rare.
Uh.. you got me confused.. you were right that you were left ?
Its actually a really decent arena card.
A reusable minion that I can use to clean the board with? To check for traps like Snipe or Repentance? Can also be a Knife Juggler proc when running low on minions. It is also the one minion in the game that can devalue say a Flamestrike.
There is three category of cards that people seem to forget:
1) Constructed (Example: Totem Golem)
2) Fun gimmicks (Example: Justicar Trueheart)
3) Arena (Example: Coliseum Manager)
Hmm I appear to be getting downvoted but nobody wants to contest my points. What a shame. After all, by downvoting me, you disagree with it not being usable and decent within arena.
In Arena you want to press for aggressive tempo. While the 3 mana slot doesn't have al ot of good cards, this card with most likely lose you tempo. It might be good during top deck wars I suppose.
have my upvote! its so easy to compare it with Druid of the Flame which is a good arena card. People seem to forget that you do not have to use your hero power. If you are losing a hero power you are losing tempo anyway, doesn't mean coliseum manager is bad
Yeah. Top deck wars are a fairly big factor in arena and is a lot more common than constructed play.
I concur with you. Not all cards are meant for the same format. Coliseum Manager is good for one for format which is Arena, and is fairly bad in ladder play. Two other examples of this is Volcanic Lumberer and Drakonid Crusher, both are actually fairly good in Arena yet never see play in ladder play.
horrible card in arena even? in like 99% of the time
Im going to give a example:
Im even letting this card fight against what EVERYONE sees as a bad card :P
Magma rager
It draws with magma rager which is horrible
You cant ping/shapeshift/dagger or you lost 3 mana xD
Now lets take a better 3 drop.
Earthenring farser is decent:
2/5 hit 3/3
3/1 left you can't dagger/ping/shapeshift it
or you lose 3 mana again.
While playing having a unlimited use of 2/5 can be nice. It just isn't worth 3 mana tempo loss.
I think most people would consider this inspire effect a drawback rather than a benefit.
Making this 2 mana probably would see in constructed since a 2 mana 2/5 kills aggro pretty nice, but you can not hero power anymore.
@ Spaiikz: Welcome to hearthstone. If you could activate your hero power on your opponent's turn, people would claim this is a strong card, yet since you cannot respond to anything your opponent does on their turn outside of a Secret or triggered ability like Burly Rockjaw Trogg, this card is considered bad.
Also you just compared it to Magma Rager. Coliseum Manager is superior in stats to a Magma Rager in that it actually survives better than what you compared it to.
Your argument appears to boil down to: If it had better stats, it would see play in Ladder.
Yet that is not the point I made at all, I said it was not good in Ladder and that it would see play in Arena.
To me this is what is truly and honestly going on here: People are having a knee-jerk reaction to the card.
Simple as that. People had all this built up anticipation for what boiled down to a "good in arena" card.
Other card games have similar cards that are good in Limited (equivalent to Arena) and bad in constructed.
