Clarifications
- The mana reduction lasts until you play a Dragon - it doesn't need to be on the current turn.
Battlecry: The next Dragon you play costs (2) less.
Everybody wants someone to snuggle with. Even giant armored scaly draconic beasts of destruction.

This card costs 5 mana. It makes your next dragon cost 2 mana less. 5-2=3. You are paying 3 mana for your dragon + a 5-5.
Yes. It's a 5/5 for 5 that reduces the cost of the next dragon you play (which can allow you, for example, to play Ysera or Alexstraza two turns sooner than you might have been able to otherwise). What's the part that doesn't make sense?
...The fact that Ysera would now cost seven mana but it's still impossible to play them on the same turn because it would altogether cost twelve mana?
You don't play them on the same turn. You play Dragon Consort one turn and then you play Ysera another turn. So you could play Dragon Consort on turn six and then Ysera on turn seven, which you wouldn't be able to do otherwise.

Oh wow.
I has teh dumb.
DIE MATH DIE
this person is the target audience for hearthstone, someone who can barely comprehend the most basic text on a card
Dafaq did I just read?
Dragon Consort, Chromaggus, Lay on Hands.
Just a damn good card IMO
The other classes still have good reason to make a dragon themed deck, paladin and priest just have the least potential for them to be broken as shit. Malygos two cheaper is great in most classes other than Paladin, and an early drop that was stat efficient is what priest was needing after they nerfed undertaker. The other classes mostly got useful cards that'll birth new dragon based archetypes, even if the new archetypes aren't as dragon focused.
This has absolutely nothing to do with balance, so you're definitely the only one there.
As happy as I am for Paladin getting some much love, I'm confused as to why Dragon Consort thematically fits Paladin at all.
Avenge, Muster and Quartermaster made perfect sense due to being related to minion buffing or swarming; whereas, Tirion and Bolvar have important roles in the Warcraft lore, especially during Wrath of the Lich King expansion.
i could understand if Kalecgos or Krasus became future Mage cards, due to Krasus' past partnership with Rhonin and Kalecgos' romance with Jaina/status as the new Aspect of Magic.
But at what point in Warcraft lore did a Paladin team up with a dragon? Because right now, Dragon Consort feels thematically out of place.
It might be in paladin for balance reasons rather than for theme. Dragon acceleration, to this extent, would be kind of nuts if it were neutral. It's ramp that seems fitting for a Time dragon, but making it consistently accessible neutrally would be nuts. They gave it to paladin because it's a solid card in the control archetype and an absurd one in the combo archetype. Since paladin can't make the combo archetype with spells, it's very safe there.
Ahh, I see. I'd been wondering why this was paladin only as well, your explanation makes a lot of sense.
I can't wait to thoughtsteal this
Since it is a class especific, and other dragon decks would give an arm - or at least a scale or two - to have, shouldn't this be a "a dragon next turn" ? This would totally balance the card, as right now you don't have the sophie's choice to develop, thus finding value on the card, or controling the board. People are simply going to use turn 6,7,8,9 or 17 to clear the way for yseraish things when appropriate
I'm sad this isn't a neutral. The argument for Mechwarper being ok was that it's neutral. "hurdur every class can pull it off so it's fine." Turn 7 Alex is gonna make me so salty.
T7 Alex -> T8 Drakonid Crusher. Plus maybe an Argent Protector, just for good measure.
I won't have enough Big Game Hunters and I think that was their point.
I know, everyone keeps saying this or that card is bad because "it dies to BGH".
YOU CAN ONLY HAVE 2 OF THEM
I'd probably be more salty if a combo/freeze mage played a 7 mana malygos, Sorcerer's Apprentice, frostbolt, ice lance, ice lance for a nice and tidy 26 damage burst.
(Just saying).
