This is a definite possibility. I wonder if this would make him too weak though. Would only know with testing.
Make him a 7/5 and have the boys do 1-2 damage

It's not Dr. Boom who needs nerf but his boom bots :)

Dr. Boom does not need a nerf. There are answers to deal with him easily. 90% of the time the bots explode for 1-2 damage, very rarely 3-4. If you play him and he gets hit with Big Game Hunter (which is highly likely), then you're looking at getting about 6 damage out of him for 7 mana, which isn't OP at all. If you don't have any answers for him, you will take a pounding, just like any other big card in the game. Stop crying.
Nope, it doesn't work like that. Like in the every other game, if some hero, class or card are being played by ALL players, it gets nerf. If you look at the current decklists, there's only two decks that comes to mind that don't use Dr. Boom - Zoo(some versions do) and freeze mage(same case). Same thing happened to Novice Engineer, Tinkmaster Overspark, some other cards. Now you get why it should be and will be nerfed?
The bots hit for 1-2 90% of the time against you? Please spare your RNG luck to us RNG-less plebs.
Nope. Ragnaros is now only played in control Hunter, Rogue and Warrior(rarely in Druid), Sylvanas is in the same situation as Rag, with exception for handlock. Loatheb is really good, but only because there's not many good neutral 5-drops. There's no huge tempo swing in that card.

Dr. Boom is pretty balanced to be honest. Each Boom Bot averages 2.5 Damage each while also being able to clear field.
However keep in mind it's a LEGENDARY. 1600 Dust. Not cheap.
It has to be strong to be worth it, look at legendaries like Grull and Norzdormu. Ain't nobody got time for dat.
Morshun is correct in every sense that Dr Boom is fine the way he is.

Ragnaros is a late game card, only control decks run him. He is your reward for lasting long enough, a win condition on his own. Loatheb fits into every deck, but his effect is extremely situational. In a meta that isn't spell heavy he quickly becomes mediocre at best. Lastly, Sylvanas is a top notch minion, but one can easily play around her effect. She is a super inconvenient card for your opponent, but that's it.
Boom, on the other hand, is pure value. Always. No matter the state of the board, in 90% of all cases you can drop this badass and gain a ridiculous advantage. Even if he gets BGH'd you just took some pressure off your other high class minions (Rag, Giants, you name it). And because he sits at 7 mana he also fits into every deck. Even aggressive Hunters use him as a finisher!
And that's the huge difference, Dr. Boom is a no-brainer card. You could also rename turn 7 the Dr. Boom turn if you want.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the boom bots explode for 1-2 dmg 50% of the time and explode for 3-4 dmg 50% of the time. I don't know how I know this. I'd call it azian intuation, if I was azian.

would just recommand them to change it to 8 mana and lowering the bombs damage max from 4 to 3 or 2, making him +- more balanced compared to war golem and other 7+ drops

War Golem is a basic card, why a Legendary should be 'more balanced compared to other 7+ drops'?
If you want to nerf him, make him put the Boom Bots in your hand instead. Still stronger than War Golem, but now he doesn't make such an immediate impact. Of course, I'm in the camp that doesn't want to nerf him.
Then he wouldn't be countered by mc tech which is no good. I think the boom bots being 1-3 would be sufficient. But keep in mind this is blizzard, so he won't get nerfed until 6 months from now.
Sick of this card.
It does too much compared to its competitors that it's just an auto include in most decks.
That isn't good for the game.
That's kind of the point of being a Neutral card...
name me one other card that is an autopick simply because it's so much better than everything else in slot...
