No, it replaces itself with value - 2 mana for another minion which is 3 less - automatic tempo. As a bonus it can get cards from other classes including legendary. I got Gruul for 5 mana, it was over.
Got 2 Unstable Portals from my packs yesterday and just got to play my first portal...
On the first day or Portals, RNGesus gave to me: 1 Neptulon and 4 murlocs!
And the murlocs were Murloc Tidehunter,Grimscale Oracle,Murloc Raider, and [card]Siltfin Spiritwalker[/card]. Much value was gained. Trump would be proud.
Just played against this card in arena.... dude pulled king crush at clutch moment lollllllllll
This card is crazy! :D
What the hell is going on lol, from what I'm seeing on these forums, and Youtube, this card is even better than Thoughsteal when it comes to pulling legendaries/key cards.
And i don't believe what most people say: 2 legendaries, legendaries and epic only; i don't believe that. And youtube only shows when it works, not the times you get nothing out of it.
It is the king of randomness; but it does not say that's a bad card. But don't expect only because you run this card that you will only get legendaries: You can also get a Silverback Patriarch, a Magma Rager, a Wisp or a Target Dummy. Or even worse:
Millhouse Manastorm
Some people have good RNG, some people bad; in the end we need to play it itself. Althrough getting Legendaries does not say that you win the game: Getting a Boulderfist Ogre might be better than Legendaries.
Not saying legendaries will win the game, but getting a decent one off of Unstable Portal in an environment like Arena is often enough to swing the game in your favor. Again, you can make the case that only the good results of Unstable Portal get posted, but we've been seeing quite an abnormal amount of good legendaries pulled from the card, which is still quite rare in terms of how much of the card is actually being played.
This card is insane. I just got done a game where I played 2 portals, the first one I got a Clockwork Giant and was able to play it by turn 5. The second portal yielded meDeathwing for 7 mana! Mage Zoo is going to be a thing and it will be (randomly) glorious!
So I have played arena today and used the Unstable Portal two times. I got Vol'jin and Grommash Hellscream.
I just love this card. :D
Sick golden version of the card.
Sick card.
Looks interesting. Should work with mana wyrms and mana addicts.
Its randomness does not consider rarity or class restrictions. This means you could get Tirion Fordring as often as you get Wisp, Defender of Argus, Ancient of Lore or any other particular minion.
Also worth noting that this card is only "bad" if it gives you a 1 or 0 drop. As long as you're getting at least a 2 mana minion (what you spent anyway) it's well worth it.
You may get 2 alexstraszas now... or a giant for that matters
YOU FACE JARAXXUS... ON TURN SIX! Seems extremely fun, if mostly unplayable due to just how random it is.
Time will tell if this actually gives good value, but here are some of the crazy things you can do with it (not counting combos with upcoming expansion cards):
And then cards that are playable the next turn (normally >7 mana)
In all honesty, this card might be terrible, but we're going to have some amazing RNG videos as a result, so I'm happy with it
Why? The card adds a RANDOM minion, so I think you can get anyone from the game.
It doesn't have to be that literal. For instance, Webspinner will give you a random Beast card, but the pool of cards it can give you doesn't quite include all the Beasts in the game. (Specifically, it doesn't include token beasts such as those summoned by Animal Companion.)
My guess is "random minion" in this case means a random Mage or Neutral minion. But it's only a guess.
I Tried for weeks to build a deck around Far Sight (Shaman), eaven though you can narrow it down to 1/15 cards (+1 for evry legendary). I never ever made the deck work. It made fun decks indeed, but sadly way to RNG eaven then.
It might have a better chance costing 2 mana, time will tell.
