I think this can be a very strong swing play when you can play this after Tiny Toys. Obviously you're going to have to get the mana on one of these cards reduced to pull it off in a decent time frame, unless you're playing late game.
Wrathspine deck perhaps could rng pretty hard
Oh come on. Not this sh!t again...
The problems with this card are twofold:
1. This is 3 mana Evolve when played without an opponent's board. Most of Evolve's power came from its ability to be comboed with other card (ie: Desert Hare), a thing made much easier by being cheap. Costing 3 makes Primordial Wave much harder - and weaker - to do busted Evolve things with, as even a basic combo with a Desert Hare costs 6 mana versus Evolve's 4.
2. If you're Devolving, you're usually using it to remove a Taunt to push damage or clean up their board. Because Primordial Wave is also Evolving your minions, your minions get Summoning Sickness and can't attack this turn.
So is this card good? I'm inclined to say it's bait. It's really good against Paladin and its mere existence makes Boar Priest shudder versus Shamans (not that Hex doesn't that already), and it's bundling two really good cards together, but those two cards clash pretty hard.
This is exactly correct. It's MORE situational than either card and comes with severe timing drawbacks. Imagine if instead when drawing this card it split into an Evolve and Devolve in your hand, with the stipulation that if you played one you had to play the other that turn. What would people do?
They would cast devolve on the enemy's board, then trade with their minions (dealing as much damage without getting minions killed) or hitting face with whatever is left and then evolving them so they'll be at full life.
You can't do that with this card. You must either attack first to the enemy's full strength board or lose the attacks after the cards get evolved.
People are just going to use this as a 3 mana Devolve with fringe evolve benefits.
The fact that teacher can get this is ridiculous. I'm tired of having whole boards devolved. If it was a random minion from both sides that's fair. This is another feelsbadman card.
Man, I've always hated Devolve and now it's combined with its opposite.
I think it's probably good enough as a gimped Devolve to see play.
I'm not impressed. You often don't want both effects, and even if you do you need a ton of mana. This also synergizes negatively with Rush minions like Gnoll, which happen to be some of the best evolve targets.
It might still see play of course, especially if the Devolve effect is strong in the meta.
It's also a great target for Wrathspine. I want that card to work damnit!
LOL you build your deck so that you DO want both effects, and you don't play this when your opponent controls minions that will benefit from being devolved. That's what damage spells are for.
Evolve: 1 mana
Devolve: 2 mana
This card: 3 mana
Smells like a first round of nerfs: from 3 to 4 mana cost.
Am I overreacting? :3
Ehhh... probably. It's only getting nerfed if Shaman itself is really strong. It won't carry Shaman on it's own.
