The Grand Tournament – The Joust!
Quote from BlizzardToday, we’ll be taking a stroll past the gates of The Grand Tournament, Hearthstone’s second expansion, to explore the tournament grounds before everything really kicks off later this month.
There are many ways for a knight to prove their valor, but there’s only one true test of mounted might! An aspiring champion may face off against raging beasts in the arena or best skilled challengers in melee combat, but nothing shows off one’s heroic grandeur like mounting a noble steed and charging with a leveled lance in the ultimate chivalrous contest: the joust!
The Grand Tournament wouldn’t be complete without jousting, so you’ll certainly see some tense contests on yourHearthstone board. When a jousting card is played, a random minion is revealed from each player’s deck. The minion with the higher mana cost wins the joust, and both cards are then shuffled back into their respective decks. If the initiating player wins the joust, they get to reap the benefits! Watch jousting in action below!
This spooky skeleton is a skilled knight who has spent his whole un-life practicing the joust! The Skeleton Knight loves the contest so much that when you win a joust, he’ll return for yet another chance at the fray. He also enjoys canned meat and pasta.
Healing Wave is a heapin’ helpin’ of healin’, all in one card. It’s widely considered better than non-healing waves because even if you wipe out, it still feels pretty good. Waaaay better than mangling wave, right? Right.
We hope you enjoy your visit to The Grand Tournament. Be sure to check out our other The Grand Tournament blogs:

Reading all the hype for shaman from the future. BibleThump
I love the look of Cutpurse
the others not so much
i hope Healing Wave gets an awesome animation when played before the joust
Super excited for Shaman this expansion!
Healing Wave crushes aggro-meta!
Why all the text for these cards? Instead of "Reveal a minion in each deck. If yours costs more...", Joust could be a keyword (e.g., "Restore 7 health. Joust: Restore 14 health instead.").
reminder text, and so people don't start saying "you have to know all these obscure keywords to understand the cards..." and stuff like that
Now we just need Paletress, Acidmaw and Dreadscale.
Healing Wave looks pretty good, but now I have to contemplate putting in Totem Golem. I guess a Healing Touch for one less HP still seems strong, but it may be that one hit-point which makes the difference in some match-ups.
I know Blizzard wants to fight against aggro decks, but IMO 14 health for 3 mana is a bit too much. It's not NERFING aggro decks; it's KILLING them.
Nnnnnope. Nope nope nope nope nope, all aboard the train to Fuckthatville. I'm all in favour of anti-aggro cards (I HATE aggro), but absurd, ridiculous, insane amounts of lifegain is not the way and is actually one of the things I hate more. It's bad enough already that by running 2 Healbots my opponent can force me to have to kill them 1 1/2 times, the idea that I may have to kill a Shaman player TWICE to win while he sets up his lameass OTK combo and I can't stop him does NOT exactly have me dancing for joy. Potentially 14 life for 3 mana (and he can run 2 copies)? Even if he loses the Joust he still gains a considerable amount back. I like my opponents to DIE when I kill them!
Oh boo hoo, a deck counters yours. Welcome to card games, dude.
It's nothing to do with "countering my deck", smartass. I'm winning, suddenly BOOM you regain literally 1 less than half your entire maximum life for 3 mana and I'm not winning. That's not counterplay, that's poor card design. That doesn't counter aggro, that counters EVERY deck that isn't a fucking 30-damage in 1 shot OTK lamer combo. That fucking sucks.
If Shaman looses to aggro because they have poor boardclear and defensive options, give them better boardclear and defensive options. DON'T give them better life recovery than Priest, Paladin and Healbot all put together.
You have to keep in mind you have to win the joust too, that's never guaranteed.
He is right, the amount of healbots is actually ridiculous and basically every second player has 46+ hp. You have to consider that the game was NOT designed in that way and if you are watching streams the number of "this game is going to fatique" went up a lot since GvG simply because 30 cards were designed as a limit with 30 hp in mind
best way to prevent that is to play stupid OTK decks like patron ... and facing that every second game is getting quite dull
Hopefully Shaman won't be trash tier anymore.
All of the Joust cards are going to cause problems for aggro decks, but Healing Wave more so than the rest. It will be easy to get that boost to 14 when Jousting with an aggro deck, and 14 restored health is most likely going to push things into late game, when the aggro deck's low-cost minions are weak and ineffective.
I can already see the Trolden video... Thoughtsteal Healing Wave with an Auchenai Soulpriest on board and then the Shaman takes 14 to the face
And Amaz has this "just as planned" smile on his face as he does it.
New anti aggro cards!?!?!?!
here Blizzard take mah monies!!!1
