Mike Donais on Tournament Mode & More
Icy Veins has a chance to sit down with Mike Donais at gamescom to discuss Tournament Mode, The Grand Tournament, and more. It looks like tournament mode could be the next big feature. The full interview has been recapped below.

- Tournament Mode was going to come before Tavern Brawl, but they decided Brawls would be enjoyed more.
- TGT was a way to provide us with tools to answer our complaints with the current meta game.
- Joust isn't a keyword because it ended up still needing other words on the card. "It didn't make sense".
- There are no immediate plans for spectator mode improvements.
- The Adventure then Expansion model we've seen isn't set in stone. We could easily see two adventures or expansions in a row.
- They're still looking at the new player experience. Making sure newbies fight other newbies, and releasing powerful common cards helps.
- No work is being done on an option to disable animations.

Posted Aug 10, 2015 (Blackrock Launch)Seems to me Astral Communion should yield 2 Excess Mana at least if played when the player has 10 mana already. Wild Growth, a 2 mana card, grants 1 Excess Mana. Stands to reason a 4 mana card ought to yield 2 Excess Mana.

but one thing for sure, the more cards they release, the better warlock gets because this game is about draw. they game many options to heal and reset the board, and so it will be the killer class. Its a card game that has gotten too large. draw will determine the winner. Rush will always exist, but due to negative player experience, i feel that the new cards released are tailored to decrease ruch decks and promote control deck

Posted Aug 10, 2015 (Blackrock Launch)tbh, Blizzard is really rushing new expansions and/or features for Hearthstone, I mean I still haven't gotten enough cards from gvg, and they slap us with TGT although the rank rewards balance it out, I feel as if we (the more casual players) will be soon left in the dust.

pay 100-150g to get in
8 players get to play in top 8 bracket in bo5 3 deck conquest mode
top 2 players get rewards
