Deck Spotlight: Midrange Shaman
Steef brings us a Midrange Shaman deck this evening which he took to legend this season averaging a 62.3% win-rate with over 100 games played. Your goal with this deck is to play your cards on curve, keep your opponents board from overwhelming yours, and to finish up with some kind of combo (if required) through the use of Rockbiter Weapon and Shaman favourites Doomhammer or Al'Akir the Windlord.
The deck costs 5040 dust to craft, and if you'd like to learn more about it, head on over to the full deck guide which offers insight into some of the card choices and guides you through the mulligans and matchups of each class.

Deck Spotlight: Flame On - Midrange Flamewaker
TheChiv returns once again to bring us his take on Flamewaker Mage - Flame On, a Midrange Mage deck. Your goal with the deck is to drop Flamewaker, cast a bunch of low-cost spells, and wait for your opponent to concede.
Assuming they don't give up, you will slam them in the face with buffed up Mana Wyrms, prevent damage by putting up your Mirror Images, and should it go on to lategame, play a Dr. Balanced or Antonidas to finish him off.
The deck costs 3960 dust to craft, but shouldn't be too bad if you already have access to Dr. Boom and everyone's favourite Archmage Antonidas. Check out the deck guide for more information on how to play!

If you are going to play HotS to level up to 12, Jim Raynor is easily the "easiest" hero for non MOBA players to pick up. Getting to 12 takes roughly 15-30 games I think (not 100% sure) depending on number of wins/the free 7 day stim pack you get.
I'll second that. Raynor is a great starting hero. I'm not a MOBA player and Raynor was a lot of fun to play.
"Easiest"? Nope, that'd be Li Li. She's easy to the point of being boring. Just because Raynor is the tutorial character doesn't make him the best choice for beginners, although he's certainly very simple.
Yes, I can attest to the fact that Li Li is quite possibly the easiest character to play - or at least feels the easiest, due to how little you die. Jim Raynor I find quite dull, and often requires too much teamplay to be a strictly 'easy' character.
I will disagree on the grounds that Li Li (as a support) requires teamplay in order to be useful enough to win games. Raynor does not require teammates in order to do well (I don't know where you got the idea that Raynor requires more teamplay than a support, but it's very wrong) and can easily be played solo. If you break him down into his components you see he has probably the easiest basic "skillshot" in the game, a spammable attack speed buff, an AUTOMATIC self only heal (that, mind you, works best in duels where there is less burst damage further distancing himself from teamplay), and his choice for ultimates is kill lots of things at the same time or kill one thing at a time very quickly. He has no mana problems, is easy to sustain with, and his abilities require little to no knowledge of the game in order to be effective. Compared to Li Li who requires teammates, mana management (not much, but far more than Raynor), positioning, and actually having to think about when to hit your buttons. Even comparing talent builds, Raynor's talents require no consideration or foreknowledge to use compared to Li Li.
Is Li Li an easy hero? Yes, definitely. But there is a reason Raynor is the tutorial hero (and it's not just because he is a main character), he is the most barbones basic hero to both use and build in HotS as not only is his skill floor super low, but he doesn't even require much meta game knowledge to do well. A Raynor sitting in a solo lane pushing constantly and ignoring other objectives can still actually do ok (something Li Li just can't do).
Now if you were going to try and learn to play HotS, and not just farming to 12, yes I'd recommend Li Li over Raynor. Support classes more suited for letting new players observe the game and introducing them into how to fight/win in the meta game. But seeing as a lot people are only interesting in getting to 12 as fast as possible, Raynor can get you there while requiring the least amount of game knowledge to play.
I just made it to lvl 12. Waiting on card back. I would have to say that 12 levels is more than enough HotS for this cowboy. So glad that grind is over.
I got lvl 12 just for the card back, and I've ended up lvl 19. Got to say - HotS is fun!!
have to agree on that one, mate! :)
Finally Heroes open beta ResidentSlee...
Sitting on 40 level from Alpha and watching the card back 4-5 times per day while i waitting to obtain it.
Anyone in EU who is lvl 40 and hasn't received the cardback yet? :P
Card back is not available yet
