DreamHack Bucharest 2015 "PGL Spring Tavern Tales" Survival Guide - Tournament this Weekend!
Blackwing Lair Heroic Boss Guides
Need some help with Blackwing Lair on Heroic difficulty? We've compiled some decks to help you out! The decks used for Heroic Difficulty can also be used on Normal difficulty with similar strategies.
If you've successfully defeated Heroic bosses with decks that aren't listed here, make sure you submit them with our deckbuilder!
- Categorize your deck as the Adventure type to choose which boss it is for.
- Remember to add a written guide to your deck to teach everyone how it works against the boss!
- Top adventure deck guides get featured on our front-page deck widget under the new Blackrock Mountain category.
Razorgore the Untamed
View the Razorgore Boss Guide - View All Decks for this Boss
- Razorgore has 30 Health and 15 Armor on Heroic.
- He starts off with a Corrupted Egg on the field.
- Your goal during this fight is to not allow him to hatch his eggs. Eggs which hatch spawn a Chromatic Drake.
- Even if you get to fatigue, it's more important that you took the game slow!
- Low cost minions will help you deal with the eggs. Some removal for his other drops is also required.
- Some healing spells can help you survive longer.
- He has a Bloodlust in his deck which will be catastrophic if he gets to cast it on several minions.

Vaelastrasz the Corrupt
View the Vaelastrasz Boss Guide - View All Decks for this Boss
- Vaelastrasz has 30 Health and 15 Armor on Heroic.
- The fight is very fast paced due to his hero power which draws you three cards.
- The latest you will start to take fatigue damage is on his seventh turn, assuming he doesn't play any Naturalize.
- One of the easiest ways you can win this encounter is to mill him back.
- Low cost aggression is also a viable solution to the fight since you can flood your board with everything you draw.

Chromaggus
View the Chromaggus Boss Guide - View All Decks for this Boss
- Chromaggus has 60 Health on Heroic, and no armor.
- Every turn you will get one Brood Affliction card. This card gives you a negative effect.
- The first five afflictions always show up in the same order: Green, Red, Blue, Bronze, and Black.
- Afflictions after the first five are completely random.
- His Chromatic Dragonkins will grow very powerful if you play too many spells - silence is useful, but if you can get rid of them right away with a minion that is slightly preferred.
- Silence is more useful against the 8+ health Twilight Drakes he loves to drop.
- This fight is easily defeated through cheating the AI with Kel'Thuzad and a Taunt minion.
- Alexstrasza can see some potential play on this fight if you can straight up survive until she can be played.

Lord Victor Nefarius
View the Nefarius Boss Guide - View All Decks for this Boss
- Nefarius turns into Nefarian on his first turn who has 30 Health and 50 Armor.
- Ragnaros is on your side during this fight and will give you a single card to help you out at the start of the fight. The card you get is random.
- Son of the Flame, Living Lava, Whirling Ash, and DIE, INSECT! are these cards.
- He will have 10 mana starting on turn 2 which allows him to swarm the board with minions. Removal here is key.
- You want to play safe and never over extend during the game - Flamestrike is a real possibility.
- Keep in mind the spells that your class has access to - expect the worse case scenario.

Thanks to TGT, Nefarius Heroic can be cheesed even more easily with a Mill Druid - because he has a chance of spawning and playing Astral Communion, which will not only empty his hand but force him to draw yet another card. Malorne isn't strictly necessary as he should be drawing cards much faster than you, and even has a chance of playing Recycle which wastes most of his turn and Mana. I replaced it with a Youthful Brewmaster for a nice bit of healing on Turn 10 (Antique + Brew + Innervate + Antique). Tree of Life can also be replaced with Reno Jackson, of course.
Great Vaelastrasz Druid deck ! First try- easy win. Thanks !
One of the secrets that I discovered for fighting Lord Victor Nefarius, don't drop more than 1 creature.
After nearly 100 attempts, I was playing a Priest deck and noticed that if I played a minion with high health, he would not use any of his spells on it. However, if I dropped a second creature the first thing he would do is a Flamestrike, Cleave, etc. So I wound up winning by dropping aDeathlord, Pw:S, Divine Spirit, Inner Fire on turn 7. This buffed my creature to where he would survive all of the minions Nefarius would drop, and I could keep healing the crap out of him while waiting for more buffs.
Small creatures would die to his 4 damage spells, but a large creature he would just ignore with all of the spells. I guess I got lucky he did not pull a Silence to wipe it out...
Cheapskate Decks:
cool
Really, really, enjoyed how Nozdormu ended my turn as soon as it started due to the synergy between heals and Lightwarden.
440 Dust Deck That completely rips Heroic Nef apart. You are welcome.
i wish heroic felt like a difficulty rather than just... 200% more RNG needed
There are consistent decks for every boss. In my experience, when you find the right one, it works on one of the first few tries.
Imagine if Majordomo Executus's Deathrattle gave you those four cards from the Nefarian fight...
or just one
balanced.
Thanks, cant wait till week 5!
Why is there no mage deck in the guide for Chromaggus? It's the most obvious choice with Sorcerer's Apprentice and Mana Wyrm gaining synergy off his affliction cards, e.g., my deck:
Have you defeated Chromaggus with this deck?
Yes, took me a few tries to get the combo. I mean, it does say that in the deck description.
I think i found a bug with Vaelastraz: i was playing the Garbage Hunter posted up, and i won beacuse he didn't attack a Target Dummy when i had a secret out and he corrupt the Dummy and pass...
I don't know if it's a bug o Vaela it's set up badly..
Happened to me when using Voidwalker in a Zoo deck--when Vaelastrasz uses Corruption on one of your minions, he will not attack that minion. Thus, if he uses it on a Taunt, he won't attack it, and in turn won't be able to attack any minions behind the Taunt.
...at least until he Flamestrikes away your defenses (which is exactly what happened to me).
You mean wing 5 of naxx? Why are you paying for BRM if you haven't finished naxx yet? Just spend 700 gold and finish it.
It's been like 8 months since it came out? What's taking so long?
