Saviors of Uldum - Official Announcement
Quote from BlizzardNow that the magical floating city of Dalaran is firmly within his kleptomaniacal clutches, Arch-Villain Rafaam and his crew of notorious ne’er-do-wells have travelled south to Uldum - the land of hidden treasures, plagues, mummies, and (thanks to the League of E.V.I.L.’s arrival) MAYHEM!
Though their ultimate goals are still shrouded in mystery, the next phase of their plan appears to be well underway. Now, if only there were a motley crew of courageous treasure hunters up to the task of thwarting these misguided malcontents…
Evil may be on the rise in the dusty deserts of Uldum, but hope is here in the form of the League of Explorers! Join Reno, Elise, Brann, and Sir Finley as they unearth treasures, battle bad guys, and take on the oh-so-simple task of saving the world in Hearthstone’s newest expansion, Saviors of Uldum!
Launching worldwide on August 6, Saviors of Uldum is Hearthstone’s newest expansion, and the next installment in our multi-expansion story spanning the entire Year of the Dragon. In Saviors of Uldum you’ll be introduced to 135 scorching hot new cards, added game features, and brand-new exciting mechanics!
EXPLORE THE SANDS OF ULDUM
REBORN
The magic of Azeroth’s Titans and Tol’vir has seeped into the dunes of Uldum’s ancient burial tombs. Now, death is more of a suggestion for the restless crypt-dwellers and temple-crawlers found within.
New Keyword – Reborn
Minions with the Reborn Keyword will return to life the first time they’re destroyed, but with 1 remaining Health.
PLAGUES
The League of E.V.I.L. will stop at nothing to see their dastardly plans come to fruition… even if there’s a little collateral damage along the way.
Introducing – Plagues
Plagues are spells of ancient power wielded by the 5 League of E.V.I.L. classes (Priest, Shaman, Warrior, Warlock, and Rogue.) These cards wreak havoc indiscriminately, affecting every Minion on the board, so it’s best to be the one who decides when they’re unleashed.
QUESTS
No matter if they’re working to further the League of E.V.I.L.’s nefarious goals, or in cahoots with Reno’s ramshackle rapscallions to dismantle those despicable evil-doers, every adventurer worth their sand needs a Quest…
Introducing – Quests
As with existing Quest cards, these Legendary 1-Mana cards start in your hand and, once played, their progress will track above your Hero portrait. After your quest is complete, you’ll be immediately rewarded with a game-changing new Hero Power
MORE NEW AND FAMILIAR MECHANICS
As the dunes churn and cards previously hidden under sands of Uldum are revealed in the coming weeks, you’ll be introduced to some cards with exciting and powerful effects, as well as some familiar returning mechanics. Stay tuned to Hearthstone on social media to find out when new cards will be revealed!

Err, so what are plagues really? Just a name given to a powerful aoe? Twisting nether is a plague? Seems redundant to give a "keyword" of an expansion to nothing new. Its definitely not a "Rush" or "Inspire" type new idea that we normally had. I'm glad quests are back though.
It's like how they called "Portals" a new mechanic in One Night in Karazan, while they were actually just spells that had a random summon as a secondary effect, or how they did the same with "Projects" in Boomsday. It's not really a mechanic, but they like calling it that way, so hey
Plagues aren't keywords? It'll probably end up being like a Spellstone mechanic where every class gets a unique one or something. Or it's just a one off thing and the presenter rambled too much about it.
I think the best way to describe it is like a spell "archetype".
Spellstones upgraded when certain conditions were met, schemes improved each turn, portals summoned a minion, projects gave both players something beneficial, and now plagues "drasticly impact" both players.
But yeah i get where your comming from, twisting nether "drasticly impacts" the entire board aswell. But i gues it is just their way of saying that the plague spells will all impact both players in some negative way.
In MTG they call these groups of cards "cycles". Basically a group of cards, one from each color, whose effects follow a certain theme.
I am jazzed they are bringing back quests and Yogg in a fashion, but damn folks....next time get a presenter that has some passion about the product. I mean I suppose if they were going for a dry librarian flavor then they nailed it, but woof....she was hard to watch and killed some of the hype for me.
can i already put Supreme archeology in the worst legendary of the set slot?
I know its early to rate cards but in my opinion it wont see much play.
It could still work if Warlock gets some tools for it.
Supreme archeology + Plot Twist + Elekk maybe
You know that it will work with Plot twist, right? So you can get this effect off way faster than turn 20.
I mean, surely you just Plot Twist a couple of times and you're most of the way there?
.
Plot twist, questing explorer, hero power. More than enough...it actually seems pretty broken.
Plot Twist
I mean yea plot twist is the first thing that comes up, playing this quest in a deck that focusses on handsize (loads of draw, molten giant and twilight drake) and two plottwist will probably get you there.
The problem i think is the rewarded hero power, it sure is strong (passive wilfred) but i don't see a way currently for handlocks or plottwist decks to really capitalize on it.
We're going to have to see what cards warlock is going to get in this expansion, maybe an entirely new archetype will jump up. (Just like quest rogue in ungoro)
It needs big cards like Voidlord, Lich King or something good Battlecry to keep up with faster decks or/and card recycle/shuffle to counter control.
Did I get it wrong or we re gonna have 2 expansions in standard
err, what? standart has 4-6 expansions, plus base and classic, dependant on the progress of the year. we're getting this one in august and then one in december i figure.
Just take my money xD
