The Dalaran Heist - Adventure Launches May 16
Blizzard has announced new details on the upcoming Great Dalaran Heist adventure.
- Launches May 16!
- Wings cost 700 gold each, first is free. Whole adventure should be $20 USD.
- Like Dungeon Run and Monster Hunt in format but loads of more content / features.
- Challenge defenders of Dalaran that sit between you and your job.
- The second chapter can be purchased right away after completing the free first chapter.
- The chapters after 1 & 2 will be unlocked on a weekly basis.
- Hero Powers get unlocked through mini-quests such as Freeze 30 minions or Draw 100 cards.
- You can remove cards from your deck at a Dalaran Tavern during your run as well as modify your deck with special gold coins.
- Each wing has a special passive effect active. Anomaly mode makes these randomized.
Next week, on May 14 & 15, there will be a special event where some pros get to play the adventure early.
Chapters
- Dalaran Bank
- The Violet Hold - Imprisoned Minions, join the fight later
- Streets of Dalaran
- The Underbelly - Swaps Attack and Health of all minions
- ???
Some of this looks really cool - I just wish it would launch already!
You get 3 RoS for each wing you complete! If you complete all 5 you will earn a free golden Legendary (like whizzbang).
It think it's pretty good :)
Do you get to eat Taco Bell tacos without giving Taco Bell money? Do you get to fly to Bermuda without giving money to an airline?
No. Just as it was with Naxx, Blackrock, League of Explorers, and Karazhan -- and just as they previously announced would be the case here -- no part of this solo content will ever be free beyond the first wing.
I suspect that very few of the free players who were drawn to Hearthstone by free Dungeon Runs have ever converted to paying customers, so there's really no reason to keep giving this stuff away.
Dungeon run was free so we're the others. They changed formats a few years ago eliminating adventures and adding an extra expansion. At the time many we're concerned about the added cost. They tried alleviating some of the hurt by adding the adventure part for free. Blizzard is being a money grubber making us pay when it was something that was given for free. At the very least they should have it free for people who already purchased the expansion bundle packs
STOP THE PRESSES -- a company is trying to make money!
If you can't afford it, don't buy it. Just like any other video game.
holy moly !!! N.I.C.E
Obligatory TinnyTim.jpeg at 2:00.
I must be a moron because when they said "mid and long term rewards" I sincerely thought they meant "rewards for your collection." Foolish.
Also upvoting the other people here saying that watching the pro-player stream on the 14th and 15th feels bad as a customer. Agree 100%.
But worse for Blizz is that knowing me, I'll probably lose interest in the content by the end of the stream. I expect that experiencing it vicariously like that will make it REALLY hard to justify paying for it afterward.
If I skip the stream AND avoid spoilers on Reddit and Youtube and Twitch--even with the algorithms for these putting all this content at the top of my feed--I might still want to buy it, but it would still feel like "what's the point it's all been done already anyway."
Edit 'cuz it would unfair to not mention this part: It looks like a lot of fun. I might still buy it despite everything I just said. The way they did the release announcements feels like a mistake, but it looks like the Solo Content team nailed it. Great job.
There's an exclusive legendary for purchasing all of the wings.
The Solo Content Team might easily be the best team working on Hearthstone.
Imagine not knowing how many days there are in a week.
In case you've never had the pleasure of seeing this...

I skipped last five seconds of the video with logo and release date. Also when I watched this there was only a video and no actual text in this article. With his last word "starting next week" I thought he was reffering to streamers. I thought they didn't give exact release date yet. No need to be a douchebag.
childrens card game
ok. . .
your point is?. . .
just a maymay
This Hearthside Chat was all that was necessary to build hype for the new single player content. Believe me, I like what I see so far, so consider me hyped. There's no need for this pre-release nonsense.
well i'm not going to bother then. i'm not getting anything out of this and all the prior modes similar to this were free. they get enough money from pack purchases to warrant covering the cost of these minor modes.
Actually you receive 3 RoS packs per chapter out of it. And finally 1 golden classic pack and 1 golden legendary (similar as whizbang).
But in the end this is your money and you choose for what to spend it. To be honest 20 euro per game this day is pretty cheap. And you can find a lot of trash games for 60 euro as well.
The other modes like this weren't nearly as detailed. Plus, they've charged for single player content in the past. Also, you do get packs for completing each chapter and an exclusive legendary for buying all the chapters.
They put much more effort into this than the other single player modes, think of it as buying another game within the game. There is no way they could justify putting in all this extra effort for content they weren't going to make any money from. I, for one, am happy they are doing so, and will gladly pay $20 for it.
