Definitely a random one. Or else it would have said discover a Lackey ;)
Man, all these callback cards, and they name a card that sounds so much like Sludge Belcher, and.... it couldn't be more different.
Disappointed! Why did I think this was Sludge Belcher 2.0 FailFish! Lol
Very good card. Likkim synergy is a nice bonus.
Seems solid. Kind of similar to Dark Peddler.
I mean a lot of people liken lackeys to 1.5-2 mana worth so this into a lackey isn't the worst turn 1-2 play.
This isn't great, but it isn't as bad as some people are saying. You play this on turn 1 and get a high-tempo minion that you can play on turn 2 (e.g. a random 2-drop, 2 damage to kill their 2-drop, or a random spell generator), even with the overload, or a high-value minion to play later (rush or evolve). Anybody who plays shaman knows how often you end up toteming up on turn 2, so this isn't much of a cost.
Turn 1 Sludge > Turn 2 Lackey is pretty good.
Sludge Slurper is probably bad. The best point of comparison is Kobold Librarian - each is a 1 mana 2/1 that effectively draws you a card, and each features a class-specific drawback. However, losing 2 health is way better than overloading, and drawing a card from your deck is probably better than getting a random Lackey, especially after turn 4 or 5 when the impact of a Lackey will be much lower.
Except that Kobold Librarian is a broken card that is auto-included in any non-Even warlock deck. A card worse than Kobold Librarian isn't necessarily bad.
Just because its worse than kobold librarian doesnt mean its bad. Kobold was one of the best card in the whole game, so comparing this to it and saying that it is bad isnt a really good point
Just said the same thing, disnt see your reply, absolutely agree with you
I respect your point, but the fact that Kobold Librarian is broken doesn't mean it's not a relevant point of comparison - it simply means that a card like Sludge Slurper can be worse than Librarian and still be a good card.
However, it's not just worse than Kobold Librarian, it's dramatically worse. Overloading is a heavy price to pay in the early turns when the Lackey payoff will be valuable, and in the late turns when you can afford to overload 1 without much concern the payoff for the battlecry is largely pretty weak. Some have compared it to Fire Fly, which is relevant with the upcoming rotation, but the aggressive statline has it trading down a lot more, and the stickiness of a 1/2 is relevant in a tempo deck.
I just don't see a turn where you'd be excited to play Sludge Slurper, so unless we see Lackey synergies created for all "bad guy" classes, I do not expect to see this card at all.
Not really a great card to play on turn 1 since out of all the lackeys only 2 are unconditionally useful (ethereal and faceless) while the rest can range from weak to useless. With that in mind I feel like it'S not good to play this for tempo, but it does get a lot better later in the game, especially in combination with Shudderwock.
Lickim my balls :O
Saw the name and was hoping to see a Sludge Belcher reprint. Oh well.
Turn 1 this, turn 2 the lackey, seems like a decent opener, good with the overload weapon and the 4 mana elemental.
has also synergy with hagatha for creating resources as it's 2 for 1 like firefly,
seems flexible to me... also lackeys are pretty good.
Will definitely see play
Why we havent seen any of these Lackeys yet so we can have a better opinion on how op are those "add a random lackey" cards?
There are 5 Lackeys - randomly generated 1/1's with different effects.
We have seen every lackey. Here: https://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/EVIL_Miscreant
