From the creators of Chameleos, the card that everyone thought it was cool but was rarely played, we bring you Madame Lazul.
Well yeah but the Problem with Chameleos was the fact that he's a 1/1. If you don't start with him in hand, every time you draw the guy he stays a 1/1 for a turn, making it a completely useless draw - obviously preeeeetty bad in lategame or topdeck mode. The effect in itself is actually pretty good, so don't act like a casul and think before you comment. I'm not saying Madame Lazul is gonna be great but she's definetly worlds apart from Chameleos.
Now we have countdown timers!!!!!!! My favorite time in Hearthstone waiting with baited breath for the next reveal :) :) :)
HORRIBLE design. HS team has learned nothing from the past.
The big amount of discussion going on here shows itself, that this card is done in a great way - it so much more interaction for the community, then a overpowered hype card.
I mean really guys, look how many comments we have already here!
we got those comments cause it's a first post on the front page for 3 days straight.
No news for 3 days?
Well we knew there wasn't a reveal for some days. Check the main page to see the reveal schedule.
exacly, my thoughts. and all those "new cards" have old mechanics, we all seen tham in a different form.
Who cares about Vanilla stats really?
Do you eve use any Vanilla stats cards without any other advantage on it?
Looks weak.
Something to keep in mind is that, while this may not see that much play on ladder and I won't disagree with that, this will still likely see a good amount of play in Tournaments, since the standard tournament format is going to be changing to a single class, closed decklist with sideboards style. Playing this card in a Secondary deck might not be a terrible idea in a closed decklist format because you won't already know what you're playing against and what cards are in your opponent's deck. Just a thought.
I don't play priest, but a value-orientated priest will be much better than just playing Zerek's Cloning Gallery and OTK.
I see both sides of the argument, but the swing for me is that the new meta seems very value oriented, and this is a value card.
It is only one health off of vanilla, gets intelligence (which, agreed, is not always as huge a factor as it occasionally will be), AND you get a guaranteed card (unless they are empty handed) which often will be chosen from 2-3 cards, to max its value for you. That card is gained at a price of only 1 health, which is slightly offset by the intel.
This is a solid value play, at only a slight tempo loss. Keep in mind, you may be discovering other additional value cards in the new meta, meaning you may be able to chain value off this. Comparison to Glimmerroot is not valid because that was not a near guaranteed draw, nor was it a discovery among available options. Late game that can mean discovering an answer you need and playing it the same turn, or discovering lethal and winning.
This is superior to Glimmerroot straight up, and more so in a value heavy meta.
people are comparing this to Glimmerroot when in reality a more accurate comparison is Blink Fox. For just one stat less, you get to see two additional cards in your opponent's hand, AND you get to CHOOSE, which makes it so on average you'll be getting a much better card than the average Blink Fox draw (like getting a Snowfury Giant against Shaman, or Elemental Invocation against Mage)
I would rather compare this new legendary to Mind Vision or Chameleos as those give you insight to your opponents hand - and make him shiver, what of his cards YOU might use against him *g*
Madame Lazul lets you even go more specific and chose one card, that would hurt most ;)
Vanilla 3 drop is 3/4. This is a not very good against aggro but potentially amazing against anything else if played correctly. However this card needs help and without a deck that supports heavy counter play I don't see much use for this card. Luckily Priest can counter very well at least right now.
Think seeing three cards in your oppenent hand is barely relevant tbh. Like lets say im playing some sort of tempo priest. Well as a tempopriest I am always scared of aoe obviously. So i play this card to check 3 cards in my opoppens hand right? Well these are the two possible outcomes that can happen:
1) I see an aoe in my opponents hand and play around that aoe
2) I don't see the aoe in my oppoents hand, BUT it is still possible that the others cards in his hand are aoe, so you still play around it. It's not like I'm going to go greedy if I know three cards in his hand are not aoe.
However, a 3 mana 3/2 won't obviously see play in a tempo deck. Well in control, knowing what your opponent has in there hands is barely relevant also. Sure you can think of lets say psychic screaming a board but you see whats in your oppoennt hand and you want to save it for those cards. The thing is that I don't think paying 3 mana for seeing three cards in your oppoent hand is even worth it and these type of situations are more rare than common.
I feel like this card will see play but only because it can add a card to your hand,
I think that although this is a valid argument, things change dramatically if cards are printed like dirty rat that let you interact more with your opponents hand
akitoEX, not sure why someone downvoted your comment. It a completely logical (and correct IMHO) argument. A 3/2 will NOT see play in any aggro, tempo, or combo deck. This would be a card played in either a control or combobreaker type deck. But would a control deck want to add this card instead of a better value card? This would have nearly zero value against aggro as you discover a non-Aoe aggro card and play a 3/2 body. And against control, it could have the most possible benefit as you could possibly get a super strong control card off you control opponent, but it typically won't be optimized for your deck. Kind of like discovering Hadronox (a super strong control card), but your deck doesn't have taunts or Shudderwock and you don't have anywhere near the battlecry synergy of your opponent. The combobreaker thing is also not truly relevant either. So saying that you have a Dirty Rat type card and you discover that your opponent is holding the minion you want to pull. This is best case scenario and the other 2 cards in the players hand might also be minions though. So what is the great benefit here?
So with the age of netdecking, you basically know what cards are in your opponents deck already. And if you are a decent player, you have a pretty good idea of what they are holding and when the best time to play your combobreaker cards are.
So I like this card, like I liked Chameleos, but let's be real here. When you already know what cards your opponent is playing 99% of the time and you can make strong educated guesses what your opponent is already holding, what does it matter?
