Very poor in idea, and RNG based. I hate this card. Too much disappointment.
You don't have much of an imagination, do you? Unleash the hounds, all secrets, animal companion, deadly shot, dire frenzy, multi shot, emerald spellstone, to my side, boom-zooka + revenge of the wild are all spells that are hard to backfire (the only one is dire frenzy, but that is basically mirror matchup only)
It is an amazing card for spell hunter, or even a normal hunter with a few secrets, animal companion and spellstone - basically a full board of 3/3 + animal companion and replayed secrets + your hero power is now targetable.
and I know the deathstalker is stronger, but he will rotate out before this one does - you can't just think in the current meta but "what does it open for the future" which is simply - every "enemy minion only" or "your minion / side only" spells are recasted.
"RNG based" ....wow dude.... that's why it's a build-around card. You limit the RNG by only including the exactly right spells in your deck, similar to Spiteful Priest. If you just put whatever spells you want in your deck without accounting for it yeah you might take a Kill Command to the face. You can go full RNG or minimize RNG with a limited list of spells.
What am getting from the comments here they want Zul’jin’s hero power to deal 100 damage or something.
This isn’t customhearthstone subreddit where every hero card that gets upvoted there is seriously broken and overpowered beyond repair.
The battlecry is powerful so the hero power needs to be fair but dealing 2 damage to any target is arguably powerful. Build a beast is better for the long game sure but if your opponent is out of AoE why not play a card that fills your board and give you 6 secrets? Or you can play Zuljin first then Dk Rexxar. You won’t draw DK Rexxar at turn 6 every game so worrying about holding Rexxar until you play Zuljin is stupid.
The only legit concern is if Zuljin turns out to be too slow or not. Can Hunters survive long till they play this card with big pay off?
well,well... team 5 is running out of ideas...
i mean it's a rehashed cycled out card but it's still good hey
Would the spells cast in the order they were played?
Man, those Crushing Walls will feel nice coming back if you jam it. I'm into it.
Interesting yet probably useless application for this card: You can play a second quest, which you can then complete pretty easy if you already completed the first one.
Zul'jin is a pretty interesting hero card. My first reaction was negative - Zul'jin comes down after Deathstalker Rexxar, but his hero power is a massive downgrade once you've cast the death knight hero. But later I thought better of that - Blizzard was never going to print a Hunter hero card with a hero power as broken as Build-A-Beast, the Zul'jin hero power is still an upgrade on the base Hunter hero power, and the effect is powerful enough to make you reconsider spells you might never have played before. (For example, Crushing Walls is kind of weak, but might be great cast alongside a Greater Emerald Spellstone and a full set of secrets in the late game.)
While Zul'jin seems to fit easily into Spell Hunter, I think that deck has too many poorly interacting spells today - your Unleash the Hounds can interfere with your spellstones and To My Side!, Kill Command and Hunter's Mark can backfire in a big way, Tracking can drive you into fatigue super fast, etc. Rather, I think that Zul'jin wants to be played in a deck with a focused set of spells that turn his effect into a kind of "late game refresh everything." If you run just secrets, the spellstones, and safe hard removal like Deadly Shot and Crushing Walls, Zul'jin will retake tempo on the board in a big way. Throw in a couple of Secret Plan's to generate more resources, and if you're playing a beast package, you can throw in Dire Frenzy, Master's Call, and even Flare to try and turn Zul'jin into a way to gain card advantage without digging yourself too deep into fatigue. Now you've got a card that clears the enemy board, fills your board, draws cards, generates cards for your hand, and shuffles cards into your deck - literally everything you could possibly want in a late game bomb. That's definitely a deck I'll want to experiment with.
Dude, your analysis though. +1
Deathstalker Rexxar is still stronger than Zul'jin
No shit Sherlock, just like it's stronger than 99% of HS cards. The idea is to not keep printing broken cards like Rexxar that get more and more OP with each expansion. This card is a perfect example of a card being powerful without being so OP that you'll see it in every hunter deck and once it drops it just takes over games. It has a very strong HP: 2 damage to any target. The battlecry is very powerful but still should be built around, thus limiting your deck (don't run Spellstone with Release the Hounds for example and don't run too many spells that could damage your own units when you play him).
Rexxar's minion factory HP needs to be released into the Wild along with so many other oppressive KFT and KnC cards so we don't continue to have the stalest of stale metas due to the same must-include OP cards being in every deck.
Of course it is. Hunter doesn't need 2 broken hero cards.
In my opinion, this card is gonna be strong. It might be too slow for midrange decks but will fit in spell hunter.
Hero power is weak but I think that if this card will serve as the last push then you'd rather have the ability to deal a bit more face dmg.
Really good for spell hunter obviously, but hotddamn if that isn't the most disappointing hero card design ever.
Arch-Thief Rafaam value!
This is blizzard adding more pieces to a control hunter deck. It also explains for me why Flark's Boom-Zooka is such a weak card, arguably until now.
For the really slow hunter deck that wants a strong finisher to last into fatigue, it's a great card. In current top-meta hunter decks, not at all.
I'm excited by the future-expansion potential it has!!
Yog is back pogchamp :D
