Deck Spotlight: Tehstool's Week 5 Priest
In today's deck spotlight we're taking a look at Tehstool's Week 5 Priest, an aggro styled priest deck. As the name implies, this deck does require a Frostywyrm Lair card unlock, and the lucky one is Kel'Thuzad. The deck plays much like your normal Zoo, where you are constantly throwing yourself at the opponent using low cost minions. Tehstool has used this deck to great success to climb his way up to Legend this season.
The deck has a midrange crafting cost, clocking in at 4500 arcane dust, and contains cards from various wings of Naxxramas. Check out the full deck guide if you'd like to learn about mulligan strategy, the various matchups, and some protips. If you just want to start building the deck and giving it a shot, you can find the contents below.

Expert Pack Rarity Drop Rates on 11.3k Card Packs
A statistical investigation of the rarity drop rates on Hearthstone packs has been published by E. R. Kjellgren. Data was compiled from several different Hearthstone fansites to gather the card drops from 11359 Expert card packs. Although there is no way to validate that this data wasn't faked, there is a large enough card pool that we can assume the data should be fairly accurate for commons, rares, and epics.
Below are the findings of the research and if you'd like to read the full paper, you can find it here. Comments on the findings can be made over on our forums.
Common | Rare | Epic | Legendary | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Normal | 70% | 21.4% | 4.28% | 1.08% |
Golden | 1.47% | 1.37% | 0.308% | 0.111% |
Funny & Lucky Moments #61
Trolden is back with another episode of Funny & Lucky Moments! How many fireballs is too many, and why does Amaz always have the best games?
Having these statistics for card pulls is some nice information thanks for all the hard research!
If the statistics are confusing, remember that they're all per-card rates. So when you see Legendary as 1.08%, that just means ~1/100 cards will be legendary, and you need 20 packs to open 100 cards.
That being said, the actual probability is slightly higher since at least one card per pack is rare or better.
What is this nonsense - golden common same rate as normal legendary? I should have like 20 legendary cards then....
5% legendary rate my ass. I knew it was lower!
(Yes, I know it's not a factual ~1%, but I know it's not 5% as much as people want to claim it is)
That's a ~1% chance per card. There are five cards per pack.
Who claimed that 5% was the legendary rate? whoever said that is obviously mistaken..
Most players know that at 40 packs you get 1-3 legendaries so 2 is the middle here.
2 Legendaries in 40 packs is exactly 1%!
I'm actually enjoying playing priest for a change. The AS zombie chow combo is tons of fun. :D Thanks for the deck Teh.
Glad you are liking it! The deck is really fun.
Oh look, another Hearthstone moment of Amaz over-acting and over-reacting. "Hey, let's stare silently into the webcam, mouth agape, for 20 seconds. I only do this every time I lose a game to a huge OTK."
He's a streamer, so he's trying to entertain his audience. Sure, he's over-acting, but It wouldn't be entertaining if he just said "oh look, we lost. Oh well, onto the next game," with a bored look on his face.
Or try Yong Woo's aggro Priest deck, Donut Rush:
Or you can try both! I think trying out both is good because you can see which cards you like better in the deck. some people may prefer ragnaros or they might prefer an argus for example.
Not enough deck slots! ;-)

It is not aggro at all. It's a board presence type control.
Thought the same. Zoo is not an aggro deck either.
You're right. The priest deck more of an Aggro and Control deck hybrid. I can only select one type of deck for the deck, and I felt that aggro described it better!
I'd say zoo is more aggro than anything. It has a lot of board control, but its aim is to defeat the opponent as quick as possible while also board controlling. I'd be willing to say it's also a hybrid, but its control aspects are concealed in all the low cost minions, and their board control.
That computer voice in every Trolden's video is unbelievably irritating ... it would by so much better withount it
wow just looked at the legendary drop rate..
