Quote from BlizzardIn an update that is scheduled to arrive October 18 PDT, the following cards will be changed.
Giggling Inventor – Will cost 7 mana. (Up from 5)
Giggling Inventor is one of the most powerful and popular cards we’ve ever created. There’s virtually no downside to including it in a deck, and because it’s neutral, it’s played in almost every deck. We think it’s important to take risks when making powerful cards, especially when it comes to neutral taunts, given the role they can play in encouraging minion interactions and making games more interesting. However, Giggling Inventor has stepped beyond its intended role, and we don’t feel that it should be as effective as it currently is.
We initially tested this card at (6) mana in both the current Standard format as well as with cards that will be released in the future. Ultimately, we felt that its power level was still higher than is appropriate for a Neutral card with no build-around requirements. At (7) mana, we expect Giggling Inventor will find its way into fewer decks in general—and be much less effective in Quest Rogue—while it might remain situationally playable within specific deck archetypes, such as Evolve Shaman.
Mana Wyrm – Will cost 2 mana. (Up from 1)
Over time, we’ve been moving away from powerful, early-game 1-drops like Mana Wyrm. It can often feel like the outcome of a game is decided by whether Mana Wyrm was played on turn one, and if it could be removed quickly by an opponent. Mana Wyrm has also steered us away from making powerful low-cost Mage spells. We’d like Mana Wyrm to remain an option for decks it synergizes with, while preventing it from being a huge turn one threat.
At (2) mana, it will be easier to deal with Mana Wyrm the turn it’s played, and it will be harder to buff it with cheap spells early in the match. We still expect it to remain an option in decks that have a heavy focus on cheap spells, but it should be a less appealing option in decks that aren’t built with that focus in mind.
Aviana – Will cost 10 mana. (Up from 9)
Changing Aviana to (10) mana means it will no longer be possible to play Aviana and Kun the Forgotten King on the same turn without some additional help from cards like Innervate or The Coin. It also means Juicy Psychmelon will no longer draw both Aviana and Kun. This should make the combos Aviana and Kun produce less consistent, while still allowing decks that use the combos to exist for the players that enjoy playing them.
... Blizzard: Wild should be a place where player can play their favourite deck forever <3 Wild is good
What? This deck is too OP?
instead of balancing the deck ( I mean it is our job after all ) Let's just destroy it, so player can play their favourite deck in their dream.
Plus your nerfing is almost never done currently?
This is them balancing it, the decks built around this combo are not gone, its just now you are required to run Innervate to pull the combo off and you actually have to work around the fact you can't draw both with Juicy Psychmelon
If they wanted to remove the decks revolving around this combo they would change Aviana to do something else (EG: your minions cost 3 less) a full removal of the combo would be like the Warsong Commander nerf a few years back.
Dunno why people are downvoting this. He's just stating facts.
"You can play all your favorite old decks in wild. It'll be wild!"
Seriously, there isn't one old Standard deck that's alive because the things that made them strong in Standard makes them have parts that are OP in Wild and need to be nerfed.
Okay, you guys killed Inventor... 6 mana would be fine. At least I was saving 2 golden copies, so no complain
Giggling inventor is in standard for the next year while Sonia is gone in April.
And while it was most broken in rogue, it was way too good elsewhere and an autoinclude in basically any deck not desperate for card slots. It would have been a very good and potentially broken card at six mana.
I figured GI is going to get nerf the first time I saw it.
Show me the dust Blizz.
Mana Wyrm, Coin, Mana Wyrm always felt like insta-loss. Good nerf.
But is Tempo Mage such a big deal in your opinion?
It's probably not a nerf for the current meta, as Mage is in a weak place right now, but rather them planning to weaken a couple of cards in Mage so they can print better cards in the future. Cards like Mana Wyrm tend to just restrict design and it's why we've seen things like Undertaker nerfed in the past.
Are you seriously trying to say that when Undertaker was nerfed, it was just to free up design space for the future, and not to address an OP deck that had completely taken over the meta with a WR over 60%?
The problem isn't in mana wyrm. The problem is in classic set. Every good card in this set will see play forever. And every exelent card will be eventualy banned. So it will become set full of bad cards and it will ruin idea of novices get thier first cards wich all will be terrible. It was bad idea from beginning.
Mana Wyrm was arguably the strongest card in the game (being the strongest one drop in the game and one drops being the highest impact minions). I think it's fair to nerf it.
They even gave a warning last week...
Well, sure the avianna nerf is nice for wild...but that means we’ll be seeing more big priest in wild, which in my opinion, is just as annoying at times.
And I’m guessing plague wasn’t nerfed because it’s rotating out in half a year...they did the same thing with some of the other cards in Gadgetzan and Whispers.
Also Barnes have actual counter-play for at least 2 classes, Shaman and Mage have Hex and Polymorph. If you don't hit exactly Barnes on 4 with Priest and it's still in your deck Shadow Essence have a risk to hit Barnes ruining your other resurrect cards.
I kinda agree Barnes is still a problem card because it feels so much like playing the lottery, you got it on 4 or you don't, and if you hit Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound it's the most GG the game will ever get. But that is not every time, it's not 100% consistent so at least we got that.
I really don't care about your long ass opinion and I still stand by that these nerfs needed to happen. :] Tempo mage, Aggro mage whatever it's the same thing play mama wyrm turn 1, play secrets and kill your opponent with burn....
I really like the mana wyrm nerf and At 2 mana its still a playable card
so if i craft aviana i get dust back in a few days right?
NO. You can disenchant any nerfed cards for what it costs to craft them, but you will NOT both get the dust and keep the card. That is only when cards are moved to the Hall of Fame.
If you want to milk it for wins, and then disenchant later then yes.
If not, just dont craft it
somehow I don't feel the balance
I did want giggling nerfed, I also wanted long time ago, Dr Boom nerfed...
but this is NOT balance!
