I deleted this post, because I don't want to affect how others chose their vote. Sorry if I did...
EDIT: Phoenixfeather, I didn't forget about you, I was still reading yours :D
SECOND EDIT: uhoh.
I love being included!
Also...? ;)
Messing around with deck order is in my view a natural next step for Blizzard. Maybe not in as significant a way as this, but definitely in terms of 'top of deck' and perhaps 'bottom of deck'. We already saw 'top card' in the Taverns of Time event.
That was pretty limited, and I agree, since you don't know any more about where cards that were initially in your deck are, it doesn't address that concern.
I don't know...
Messing with that too much seems a bit dangerous. The "Deck", in itself, is the most untouched thing in the game, but for good reason. Knowing what and where cards are in your deck is actually pretty powerful - your opponent can't mess with whatever you're drawing, and what you're drawing is really powerful.
The "Also" was meant for me to go write about the token which was included with the keyword. The token idea is cool, but Tokens don't usually get connected with keywords. I understand how the game could make an exception (Summer relaxation, right? :D) but still kinda looks off. Should have been "put a random card from your deck in there instead", or something.
But Whelp. Never mind now.
They are actually pretty neat ideas and that is normal coming of the playerbase but there is some flaws that need to be worked at like the sacrifice cards for example.
They dismantle the rhythm of the game and that would make they a little less fun in practice than they appear and despite of being a minor factor we have to remember that hearthstone is also a mobile game and those style of games need to be a little faster making those things really important. That was talk about before by blizzard team when they spoke about the design of the magnectic cards.
That is the part of design that most players will never really notice and ignore but one of the most important when you're doing the real thing and creating cards that will be actually played.
Sacrifice is likely going to be less of a rhythm disruptor due to rush. That's sort of sped up the game in some ways, and there are some cards printed that grant Rush to help out with that.
I did run into problems with a few mechanics being a little clunky to implement, and that may be true of Sacrifice. I think there's a way to make it more elegant in the same way as magnetic. Maybe sacrifice minions can have their targeting arrows dragged towards your hero to activate their effect.
With Red Mana mobile will be the worst part of implementation, as you'll be starved of space. Phones have gotten bigger though, so there's probably enough space to just double up on the mana tray. Otherwise, you could compromise with 'purple' mana crystals that sub in for blue+red crystals. It's mostly a matter of fine-tuning—even though the cards will never be in the game.
Is it just me or are most of these better than the cards we currently have in the game ?
The entries are really good despite of dismiss some aspects of the game that would made thing feel a little clunky to play with but nothing really bad.
This competition just did show how dificult blizzard work actually is and everyone who made to the finals would be proud .
I'm not like to post to much about custom cards but this competition deserved every single user who prestige it.
i voted, i need a sticker
Where can we find descriptions of new keywords and tokens?
Go look at the finalist's threads.
Yeah, basically go into each individual thread. It's pretty inconvenient, but I suppose it's to encourage people to look at each thread rather than just voting based on the example cards.
I don't think it works that way.
I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet
"Ragnaros the Fryer Lord" missed opportunity
It’s me
Good luck to all!
I love the card art for Ragnaros, Kitchen Lord. 10/10 would craft
