Global Games Cheering on Twitch is Live! Cheer for Teams, Get Packs and a Card Back
The Hearthstone Global Games Cheer that was announced last week has gone live on Twitch.
- You'll earn a card back for cheering on the teams.
- Card packs will be given out based on how much you cheer.
- Twitch Emotes can be unlocked through cheering as well.
More details can be found below. Remember that cheering for a team gives the players on that team a portion of the bits cheered (equal to the cut Blizzard receives). Any of the following teams can be cheered for.
Brazil, Singapore, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Bulgaria, China, Chile, Chinese Taipei, Spain, Switzerland, New Zealand, Netherlands, Norway, Hong Kong, Portugal, and the United States are included.
You can cheer at Twitch.tv/PlayHearthstone
Community Rewards
These are rewards given out to everyone who cheers a minimum amount of bits.

---|---|---|
2 Boomsday Packs | 8,000,000 Bits | 700 Bits |

Personal Rewards
There are ten different tiers of personal rewards. Some things are for Hearthstone itself while others are for use on Twitch. The card back is the final personal reward and it will require 2500 bits to unlock.
If you want the card back without buying any additional bits, the best way to do it is by purchasing one package of 1500 bits ($20 USD) and two packages of 500 ($7 USD) for a total of 2500 bits that costs $34. If you don't mind a few extra bits though, you do get more value by purchasing the 1500 bits package twice (it is $6 more) and you get another 500 bits to throw at a streamer.
The card back is not yet in the game client which means you cannot actually use it yet. We need to wait for a patch first.
The card packs are being rewarded right away.
Reward | Unlocked at Total |

The Takeway
Not actually that bad of a deal - it certainly isn't the worst one we've seen.
If you break it down, purchasing 2500 bits for $34 USD ends up giving you 22 card packs from the personal rewards alone which would have cost you $30 USD (15 packs + 7 packs). That leaves the card back at cost of $4 assuming you don't care about the Twitch emotes. The deal improves depending on what all the community unlock tiers end up being and if they are all unlockable with just your 2500 bits cheer.
Which team will you be cheering for?
How about the blizzcon reward ? If blizzard is smart, they will make an amazing exclusive skin.. worth 50 freaking DOLLARS.
And the sad part is.. the collectors will be forced to pay for that crap even though it's a total waste.
Question: if community reward turned out to be something awesome (like Tyrande or something) will I be able to cheer then to get it (october 31) or is there a date when cheering ends?
if i bought the absolute minimum amount of bits and cheered, will I get all the community rewards?
if community reward is not going to be something mind-blowing, I think I’m gonna just sit this one out, without any salt or hard feelings for Blizz. Although Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm (where you can play the full game for free/for a once in a lifetime fee and pay for only cosmetics) only required you to play the actual game and watch the streams in their recent promotions, but anyway...
GL for the competing teams.
Here here
They aren't locking anything behind a paywall that is necessary for gameplay. This is a promotion that isn't mandatory for players to pay for and the exclusives that require purchase are a cardback and Twitch emotes.
For some reason I got 8 classic packs on my main NA but then 2 witchwood and 2 boomsday packs on asian server....is there any way to address this and get the packs(non opened) on to the server I actually want it on?
Yeah.
Ok, for those that try to get some packs at a "discount".
These are my assumptions:
- all global cheering levels will get unlocked
- to get the reward of level x, one needs to cheer for 700 * x bits
- rewards increase slightly, with level x handing out x+1 boomsday packs
100 bits cost roughly 1.40$. Here is the overview of how much you get per buck:
600 bits (8.40$) = 4 classic packs
700 bits (9.80$) = 4 classic & 2 boomsday // 6 packs (~1.60$ each)
1000 bits (14.00$) = 8 classic & 2 boomsday // 10 packs (~1.40$ each)
1200 bits (16.80$) = 8 classic & 2 boomsday & 2 WW // 12 packs (~1.40$ each)
1400 bits (19.60$) = 8 classic & 5 boomsday & 2 WW // 15 packs (~1.30$ each)
// discount of 1$ starting at 1500 bits
1600 bits (21.40$) = 8 classic & 7 boomsday & 2 WW & // 17 packs (~1.27$ each)
// "get in here bundle": I'll assume the latest bundle content, which was 2 WW, 2 KnC, 2 KFT, 2 UG & 2 classic
2000 bits (27.00$) = 10 classic & 7 boomsday & 4 WW & 2 KnC & 2 KFT & 2 Un'Goro // 25 packs (~1.08$ each)
2100 bits (28.40$) = 10 classic & 11 boomsday & 4 WW & 2 KnC & 2 KFT & 2 Un'Goro // 29 packs (~0.98$ each)
2800 bits (38.20$) = 10 classic & 16 boomsday & 4 WW & 2 KnC & 2 KFT & 2 Un'Goro // 34 packs (~1.13$ each)
Most likely around 2000 bits will be the best value buy, but unless you want those twitch emote packs and want to cheer, there is nothing really cheap to get here as far as I can tell.
No thanks, I'm just gonna take the 600 golds from the Frozen Throne event.
inb4 you realize that you need to cheer a certain amount in order to get access to the community rewards as well xD Thanks I'll take my 22 packs along with any other community rewards, while you sit there in the corner... salty ;)

You want a game you enjoy to do poorly and for a tournament scene (that everybody wants) to fall flat maybe resuliting in Blizzard deciding to not further support the game in those extensive ways anymore? Are you stupid?
I didn't know they were holding a gun to our heads this entire time, forcing us to buy bits. Damn what monsters.
This is so horribly out of place its jarring.... Though I agree whole heartedly with the message.
Hearthstone is completly F2P don't worry! Kappa
To answer the question at the end of the post, I'll be cheering for team USA since Canada is out.
Personally I use twitch services all the time (right now mainly the pokemon marathon on the Twitch Presents channel) and feel like its fine to support a platform I use all the time and a game I play a lot, so why would I not purchase bits, get some stuff and support Twitch, Blizzard and some players?
If Blizzard just add Tyrande as the last community goal they can put it as high as they want, people will come.
But I could use 22 card packs, and getting them for 30$ is not the worst deal (first time deal + 1500 bits)
I also need to see if I can get the ads if I use a VPN, lets see how it goes
Or I could, you know, not?
Jack Ryan just arrived on Amazon. I think I'll be watching that instead of cheering fucking Twitch bits non-stop for a card back. That seems like an infinitely better use of my Prime money.
Cheers my ass, Activision be like:
Feels like Blizz are trying to get two bites of the cherry here.
I’m usually up for trying out some new BS technology in a cross platform promo in order to get some cosmetic or free packs. So, trial subbing to Amazon Prime for Tyrande worked for me, and guess what, that’s an excellent service and now I pay up for Amazon Prime.
I’m also a sucker for tempting looking “value” promotions that give you packs you really dont need a slightly better rate. Thats admittedly been slighly killed by Boomsday’s preorders, as if mega bundle preorders like that become regular then my desire to spend money on the game is more than catered for by those, and of course its much more effective to buy new sets you havent crafted yet.
This promo seems to be getting me to try out a highly dubious new piece of Twitch technology and pay a chunk of money to use it, in exchange for which I get a cosmetic and old packs at a bad rate. To rub in a tiny bit of salt it’s all USD based so I would have to pay an even worse rate in GBP after hidden FX fees and taxes. Overall that’s really unappealing and I’m giving this a miss.
i hope it will fall flat on its ass, as well as the tournament and their reputation
maybe blizzard learns something from it (even though i think blizzard has not much to do with it... activision does)
being the #1 card game on the market doesn't mean you can milk your audience for more ridiculous shit all the time
(PS: please DON'T preorder video games anymore, buy it when it's out and you actually read some reviews you can trust. pre-ordering is the most consumer unfriendly thing & you reward them for doing so. just fyi)
Same, and it actually feels quite good to break the habit. Enough is enough, I'm tired of getting bled.
This will be the first card back Im going to miss out on. :( thought the cheers would be free but youd have to work at it not just outright buy them.
Pay to pay so you can pay while paying
