One Spell Usually Doesn't Fit All But We're Going To Assume This Time It Does
Entries are open for this week's Card Design Competition! This week's theme is "One Spell Fits All".
Competition-Specific Restrictions:
- You must make a collectible Neutral spell.
- Your card does not have to be a Legendary (although that might make the most sense).
- No in-game example exists, so how you proceed is up to you!
For a full list of the rules, you'll need to enter, head on over to the submission thread. Don't forget, you can only submit one card into the competition and you must submit your card in the submission thread for it to be a valid submission - the news post comments don't work! It should also be noted we have a dedicated thread for you to discuss this week's entries, so if that's your cup of tea, head on over to the discussion thread.
Is there any chance we could make the voting more fair? Maybe something like wait until all the submission are in, put them all on one page and allow voting from there? The current voting system sucks.
Why does it sucks? Their calculation system is fine, it allows every submissions even the far far away pages to be qualified for the final even with less upvotes.
A submission could be the 3rd best submission on its page, but be good enough to win on another page. Statistically, the position on the page affects the number of votes a submission is likely to receive as well. Also, because the submission are not blind (meaning that people can see who created each card) a submission by a previous winner is much more likely to get upvoted compared to that of a newer user. All in all, not a very balanced voting system.
I said fine not perfect, but it would be so much work to use your system, they always used an adapted format of vote that fits well with the upvote option. And they use this for a lot of time, this is like a tradition.
Honnestly I would try your way to do, I don't know if you are able to organized one of the fan creation theme for once, u should ask a fan creation mod or flux !
But I was ironical... XD
xD very well then, but in the past that happened a lot, and probably will inthe future editions too xD
Can I sub my card in the comments? XD
You can, but it wont count :)
I'm considering let this Card to the page to add it to de rules if you want xD
Rules? No one reads those :D
Are there rules in this competition? XD
I myself am not on Facebook nor Twitter nor do I read newspapers :)
In the last 7 days there are 3 articles of the last 13 of the category tsudecimo means. Sure it's not the end of the world to ignore them, though given they are already clearly tagged it would be nice to be able to filter out the noise and easy to have a facility to do it.
I think it's more you see a new article on the front page, get excited thinking it's some interesting news about your beloved Hearthstone and then realize it's another thing that doesn't relate to the real game :(
If you love the creative portions of the site content then more power to you. Might give Blizzard some ideas and sure it has in the past :)
Since you don't use FB, Twitter, or read newspapers, doesn't mean you can't understand his point. Everyone consumes content, and everyone knows how to ignore content on a feed that they are not interested in.
The thing is, you're asking for a new functionality on the site for being able to filter the newsfeed. Everything sounds nice and easy from the customer point of view, but that's quite a bit of work I can imagine from the website development point of view, and all for what, so that they can erase one article per week? If you only want game news, you're probably getting like one article every month anyway. Point is, don't whine over the smallest of inconvenience, if we can even call it that.
It's 3 in the last 7 days but perhaps that's unusually high.
I've done a fair amount of web dev in my career and it's why I point out the articles are already clearly tagged. That makes things a lot simpler to do though I don't profess to have a deep knowledge on the platforms/back end of this web site specifically.
It would just be a nice to have option to enable people to enjoy the content they are interested in, tailoring delivery to filter out something a lot of people aren't. I assume this is borne out in the article view stats.
It's only a small issue and hope discussion of it isn't viewed as trying to make it a large one or attacking anymore. It's just a view I share with tsudecimo and everyone else who has asked for it in the past. His question didn't seem unreasonable.
I wanna hide comments like that =)
Is there a way to hide these card design competition articles...and ''fan creations'' stuff..?
You could, say, ignore it?
I was thinking the exact same thing. More than happy for those interested to be creative (a skill I lack) to their hearts content and great the site facilitates it. But lots of readers have no interest at all and wouldn't seem hard to be able to filter out such articles with creation tags. If we were talking about a few of these a year then fine, but they seem pretty frequent :)
Well, they are weekly. But why would you want to filter them? They don't seem to pollute the site that much to a point that you would want to remove them.
To this day i shake my head in disbelief every time someone says stuff like this ... like what the hell? Do you block every single person on FB, who posts crap you dont like to read? Do you stop reading newspapers when there is a part you dont like/care about or do you just skip it and continue to the next page? Do you call to your local news outlet and complain that they r airing stuff you couldnt care less about? I think not. So why does this bother you so much? How hard is it to see "custom card creation content" and say to yourself "hm, this doesnt interests me, im simply not gonna click on it and move on" ... no, instead you come here and bitch about it. Dont take it too personally, im speaking in general, tho it is aimed at you as well, obviously.
This stuff isnt here instead of some other content, you are not losing on anything, Blizzard is slow with news, so we fill the time with content from our site. You dont like it? Perfectly fine, we know its not for everyone, but you dont have to be a dick about it either. Ppl work hard to provide good content in different areas and this is their reward? Cmon.
