The Most Popular, Successful, and Worst Cards of The Boomsday Project
We're a couple of days in to Hearthstone's newest expansion and it's time we take a look at which cards are seeing the most successful play. Thanks to the folks at HSReplay, here are the top Boomsday cards so far!
Popular Neutral Cards
Lots of players bringing back Mechs. It feels like GvG all over again!
Popular Class Cards
Warlocks, Druid, and Paladins! Seems about right from what we've been seeing with popular decks.

The Worst Cards
Not showing much promise yet, you may want to hold off on creating decks with these cards.
Cards need to have over 20,000 plays to be included below.
Top3 occupied by OP Zoolock cards, what a surprise.
These are statistics mate. This isn't subjective. At the moment, statistics show Myra's unstable element loses games. It's just how it is.
Dude, you can have an 80% win rate with Myra's Unstable Element, but if all others have a low win rate, this card still statistically performs badly. Doesn't mean you can build a good deck with it.
I'm surprised Wargear is on that list instead of Zilliax.
it'S probably because many f2p users don'T have it - thus decreasing the "times played" figure
Im not... Divine shield is for trade, extra stat is for face!
yeah word i played against quest priest who had both in opening hand :(
I noticed Whizbang the Wonderful is not here. Perhaps, its because the card breaks the Innkeeper app. Seriously, Whizbang, that guy, is wonderful.
most likely cuz that card is never played in a deck. thus theres no meta data for it. all these numbers are based on win/loss in decks these cards are played in. so whizbang is pretty much 0/0 in the stats cuz you cant really play it
It sure was nice to get Whizbang the Wonderful as one of my launch-day cards. I doubt I'll use him much long-term, but it was sweet to be able to jump in a play some decks with new cards, without having to agonize over building them.
i got him day one as well, A golden copy at that. It was sweet having all golden cards in my deck day one.
I mainly play wild, but I pulled him in gold and currently hitting win streaks. One more win from 18! Normally not impressive, but that many win chains with random decks is pretty significant. I haven’t hit either Shaman decks, nor the Trees Are Friends yet, so that may skew the results a bit.
I've had good luck with Research Project.
Haven't had it backfire yet? Or have you used it to mill?
Piloted Reaper is a terrible card.
Spoken by someone who has not bothered to make a deck with Piloted Reapers.
But seriously it makes sense that the card has seen little play, you have to build your 2 drops around it. Doesn't mean it's one of the worst cards, I think the article just has bad wording.
Decent article, however you guys probably need to reword or rephrase things differently two days into an expansion. Saying they are the “Worst” cards is hardly accurate since you are basing your logic simply on player count after like 48-60 hours of stats. People are still making decks, trying new things, etc... some of the cards you have listed as “Great” cards, for directly into zoo which is highly popular right now and was leading into the expansion.
No way Dead Ringer is a “Worst” Card in any form. 2 mana draw a specific card type 2/1 is good alone, but paired with Priest in the Mech”Thun or quest variant and it is even better.
Bottom line, 2-3 days is too early to say some cards are must crafts. You should also likely refrain from statements such as “You may want to hold off on crafting decks with these cards”. Seems very limiting, instead of pointing towards being creative, sends them right back to the net-decks and cards you promoted in your article.
Agreed. Test Subject and Dead Ringer are on the list because people can’t play the Topsy Turvy deck correctly, so they have a very low win rate. Notably, the real “worst cards” are not on the list - cards like Harbinger Celestia, because they’re so bad, nobody plays them at all! This is a good example of bad data science.
Wow 2 days in and you can already tell which cards are the most succesful?
Time to dust my collection and craft all these golden
Most successful so far. What's so hard to understand?
