Tempo mage starting to look better by the second
this is evolved kobold with +2/+1 stats i am sure it will se some play
Shooting star and other cheap spells, aprentices, vex crow, and then new legendary minion for mage.. this is gonna be a sick deck!
DELETED
Theres also Evolved Kobold.
Yeah I forgot about that, then realised it was only +2/+1 so not as big of a jump as I thought
well +2/+1 is actually a full mana's worth of stats. so it is kinda like making evolved kobold 3 mana. Well effect wise it is very different, but impact wise about the same. One mana change historically has huge impact, so an equivalent change should have high impact as well. But I am not betting on the spell damage minion being good. Not sure if shooting star will be good either, but I am certainly gonna try vex crow mage in the next expansion. Considering I played so much of it this expansion.
+2/+1 is a pretty big jump. It also has the Elemental tag which is perfect for Mage to take advantage of.
We need something like Dirty Rat with battlecry: cast a spell in your opponents hand with random targets. Tempo Mage gets out of control.
Tempo mage is bottom tier 3!?
The best decks are 53-55%. In wild it is stronger. Aggro keeps it in shape, i know. Meta is a sum of all related decks. But you have to review the top decks and there tempo mage is better than the meta position.
It is stronger in wild, but it also seriously struggles against a meta of odd rogue, odd paladin, and even shaman. Great against big priest and warlock though.
I don't understand why someone want to put Cosmic Anomaly in agro mage. If we are talking for tempo mage with aluneth, which just throw spells in your face, than this is absolutely useless card. You should put this card on a place of another card after all, not just to put cards as much as you want. And this card just give you 2 sd, which will be removed most likely on next turn. But you waste 4 mana... which is a lot for this mage. Even Lifedrinker is doing 3 dmg when it is placed. On topdeck it is useless, after aluneth you have much better card which you would want to play like fireballs, frostbolts, pyroblast and etc. It is bad if it came in early game, it is bad if it came on late game... actually you will never want to play exactly this.
Otherwise in some new mid range (even elemental) mage, this may work. It is not bad card, but it is not an agro card for sure.
aaaand power creep checked off the bingo list
It's a class card doe
I mean class cards are supposed to be stronger than neutrals right? That's like saying Voidwalker is just a powercreep of Goldshire Footman.
that's true but 3 stats seems a little excessive lol (and voidwalker has demon interactions)
Cosmic Anomaly is obviously well above the power curve, so much so that it's hard to imagine it won't be a major part of Mage decks for a while. Shooting Star is fine for its cost, so the fact that it's cheap means it will probably see play in an aggro-heavy meta.
4 mana 4-3 with 2 spell damage?! Srsly?! Aggro mage can just push your face so much faster. I see why they gives mage SD cards, for low damage aoe, but before fireballs, frostbolts and other face spells exists noone cares about low cost aoe.
This leaves open a lot of potential for tempo mage to shift from the Book of Specters archetype we've seen this meta and move towards something with more cheap, strong spells. I'm excited to see where this goes, but spell damage mage already has a lot of potential.
