Ragnaros' Fire Festival Brawl Returns for the Midsummer Fire Festival!
Defeat your opponent, but if you feed an ever-growing, minion-eating, tiny Fire Lord, there may be a reward in it for you!
Trivia
- This is the second time we've seen this brawl.
- Ragnaros' Fire Festival Brawl first debuted on July 5, 2017.
- This brawl is a part of the Midsummer Fire Festival event in Hearthstone.
- This is the first brawl that has activated special effects on an emote.
- A score is kept over the duration of the brawl to see how many minions you've fed to Mini-Rag. Score elements are a rarity in brawls.
Midsummer Fire Festival
- A bonus has been activated across Hearthstone since Monday which enables 2x gold for completion of quests during the event.
- Midsummer ends after 2 weeks (July
3029 is the last day). - A brand new brawl will appear next week with more Midsummer goodness.
How it Works
- You'll have to build your own deck.
- At the start of the game, a Mini-Rag will spawn on the side of player 2. It has 2/3 stats and is Immune.
- When your turn is over, the following happens:
- Mini-Rag launches 1 damage missiles at your side. The amount of missiles shot is equal to his attack value.
- Mini-Rag will gain attack value equal to the number of minions killed by him.
- Mini-Rag will switch sides of the board and the next player can now play as normal.
- When Mini-Rag kills minions, your overall score increases which unlocks Fireworks! See below section "Firework Unlocks".
- The end of game screen will give you a congratulatory popup indicating how many minions Mini-Rag killed that game and overall during the brawl event.
Fireworks Unlocks
The wow emote has been upgraded! Once you've killed a certain number of minions during the Brawl, your wow emote will shoot Fireworks off!
- 8 Minions Killed - Level 1 Fireworks
- 30 Minions Killed - Level 2 Fireworks
- 60 Minions Killed - Level 3 Fireworks

See you in a year mini Raggie
I wonder - is this emote only for the brawl or till the end of the fire festival?
Keep in mind if your board is full at the end of your turn mini rag will stay on your opponent's side! I think this is by far the easiest way to kill yourself.
yep, found out the hard way
Today I learned you can actually silence Mini-Rag with Mass Dispel. By the way, if you kill a minion with Mini-Rag by attacking, it doesn't contribute to the score. And, yes, I realized during the match that it was stupid to put Prince Keleseth and Divine Spirit in the same deck, especially since the second Divine Spirit was one of the last five cards in my deck.
Shout-out to RagnarokMay who did more science on the Mini-Rag interactions. You can see the comment and an even better picture the next page over.
There is no stronger card than Frost Lich Jaina in this event since it grants Elementals lifestyle, and accidentally Minirag is elemental, even though it's boring watching heal from each attack :D
EDIT: It's also a little sad that Ice Block doesn't work.
silly question, but is it 60 minions in 1 game or total over multiple games?
It's a total counter, so it doesn't matter how many games it takes, you just have to kill 60 in total.
Matter of fact, it looks like they still have the counters rolling from the last time they did this event. I did the Brawl and went to like 80+ killed and I already had the fireworks upgrade before even playing it this time. Cool!
I can top this: Shadowstep from Nexus-Champion Saraad from Rotface (the latter had 1 hp left) with Sudden Genesis in hand. The ensuing mayhem was just hilarious to watch.
thats lame
So our "Special Reward" is just fireworks?? We can't get like... a free golden pack if the total reaches 10k? Or One free pack of the latest xpac (or standard) at every 5k total?
blackhowl gunspire very op this brawl
how the tables have turned
Heard of board clears?
Coin + Grim Patron in turn 4, very op !
This brawl could be fun if not for all the mindless people who take a dump on the rules and just go face all the time. Heck, I even met a friggin' Pirate Warrior whose deck got totally demolished by mini-Rag (and he proceeded to rage-add me afterwards). Yes, I know you're supposed to win but when you already earned the pack, what's the point of tryharding as much as you can? The daily gold cap? Also, Grim Patron is just broken in that regard.
I know right? Unfortunately this happens too often with Brawls that are relatively fluid fights and can rack up easy wins for the Gold cap. I tried to mess around a couple of times to max Rag kills, but as always a buzzkill appears and just kills the fun
Honestly, Pirate Warrior isn't really THAT bad. The main deck I've been playing in the brawl is literally just a token pally list with the whole goal of making Rag huge and hope that I can keep up a constant board state to make sure I don't die first. Maybe he was trying to go for a similar thing but with pirates?
You don't need to kill 60 minions in only one run. I played the brawl 4 times and now i have fireworks level 3 :D
But the most challenging event is cool too, :D
