Quote from DaxxarriThe Monster Hunt has begun!
The Monster Hunt is The Witchwood’s new free, single-player mission content.
You’ll take on the role of one of four veteran monster hunters who are venturing deep into the Witchwood on Hagatha’s trail. Each of these heroes (or anti-heroes as the case may be!) has their own favorite tricks—a special hero power or ability that you’ll need to master if you hope to survive the hunt. Each time you go on a Monster Hunt, you’ll attempt to defeat a series of up to eight monstrous bosses. With each victory, you’ll build a stronger and stronger deck with the items you find—though if you should fall, you’ll have to begin your hunt again with a fresh deck. The trail ahead won’t be easy—the forest is full of fiendish foes! Each hunter also carries a grudge against a particular foe they’ve crossed paths with before—a nemesis, if you will. These are unique bosses that only that hunter can track down to fight.
You’ll want to go on a Monster Hunt with all four heroes because each offers a quest that, if completed, will earn you a The Witchwood card pack! Each quest completed will unlock the next quest in the series, but hunt swiftly—these quests are only available for a limited time*. If you can complete the Monster Hunt with all four hunters, you’ll finally have a chance to face off with the source of the evil in the Witchwood: Hagatha!
If you can defeat Hagatha with the power of all four heroes combined, and free the wood from her vile curse, you’ll earn the gratitude of Gilneas and the Monster Hunter card back!
Tess, Darius, Shaw, and Toki aren’t the only ones with an interest in the Witchwood! Learn more about each of them and the other dreadful denizens of the Witchwood in the Mysterious Missives series:

cant pass houndmaster.
at least 100 tries.
rng is screwing me every time.
this is retarded.
I still hate this new system, with 8 bosses in a row that must be defeated.
Either save the tries after each (or at least 6th/7th) boss, or make the runs 4 bosses deep. I just can't spend hours (6 first bosses take bit over 1 hour total) on fighting 6-7 mobs over and over and over and over again just for a random good chance for the 8th boss.
At least previously the bosses were random luck, but you were fighting the exact boss that you needed to beat every time. Now there is like 1,5 hours of time that is completely useless, for EVERY try.
SO MUCH FUN
I can't beat Godfrey... FUCK!
About 150 boss fight on houndmaster shaw, but zero win for Glinda.... Fuck this shit... Other was about second try...
I can not go for Darius Crowley last boss Lord Godfrey :BabyRage:
So, I was playing against Infinite Toki, and turn 9 I stole her Alternate Timeline card. It says "your opponent's health stays the same," but what I didn't realize was that the opponent is still Toki... It took away half my health...
"Well, that's a first..." -Infinte Toki, @ 60 health, turn "1"
Same thing happened to me, man. I left her with 2 health and just wanted to use it, you know, to see animation and all how it works. And I started game with 2hp. Of course I fuckin lost. Never BM guys, even against AI.
I had additional Toki's exclusive life tho, but still lost lol. Next game wast so lucky for me
Tess - 2 tries, first lost on last capitan with kingsbane, second try milled kingsbane ez win - bonuses double hero power and spells that didn't start in deck cost 1 less.Just discover jade shuriken and spam it every turn.
Darius - 2-3 tries.Picked + 1 damage from cannons and cost reduce.Last boss with infinite weapon was ez as fk behind some 2\6 taurens with taunt
Shaw - 3-4 tries but i got unlucky in some runs.Last boss glinda was tough but 3\1 hounds kept killing her accolytes + i made her mill some of them.Picked + 2 attack for hounds and health pack - its very good
Toki - 6 tries got completly unlucky all the times but in last i picked first spell cast again two times which was ridicouls - triple portals or 5 split damage for 3 was sweet.
Hagatha - 2 tries on first she got lucky and survived with 6 hp.Its quite simple to beat her - play toki asap choose first double spell, play darius choose + 2 hp play tess asap pick double hero power, next turn play call of the wild (got it 2 times out of 2 before turn 9) then just discover it again and get 6 companions each turn.
Good luck in your runs and i hope my experience and advices might help someone who is struggling with hunt.
Thanks for the description! I had difficulties with Shaw - won with 3/3 Rush hounds, final boss was Glinda. When I destroyed all of her standard minions she stopped playing 6/3 acolytes, she just kept 3 or 4 of them in the hand. And died of 15 os so fatigue damage. My deck was mostly of beasts.
Toki was more difficult - had about 10-12 runs, got killed with faceless collectors, Toki and some other bosses. Finally won with Passive skill -1 cost for all your spells, Double time, Spell which summons 3 1/1 ghosts and get upgraded, Magic cylinder that give +2/2 to your minion. Took some Chaos spells packages, Yogg-Saron helped a lot - defeated Faceless collector, Treant boss that reduces the cost of his minions and Toki. Was surprised when the match began again, I had 35 health at the moment. In the end Yogg restored my health, gave some minions. Worked very good with Toki hero ability. Although with Treant Yogg changed it to Hunter give +2/2 ability, which was useless.
I just beat the dungeon run.
It felt fairly balanced overall.
But, I feel a need to chip in here and say Houndmaster Shaw is the dumbest and most random of the lot.
If you don't get the Companionship treasure, you lose. Period.
Additionally if you run into the boss that summons a 1/3 sludge every time a minion dies, you're doomed.
The cannoneer has the same problem. If you don't get multiple upgraded cannons by the final boss, you're screwed.
Other than that, it was fairly straightforward.
I'd never play it again, but I'm glad to get the card back, and 4 packs.
Thanks Blizzard...
Having a hard time to beat them with the mage class, any advices?
I crushed it on my first time.
I might have gotten really lucky with treasures and buckets, I don't know.
But, I still found the final boss especially annoying. And came close to death on most of the early bosses.
The deck feels very weak at the start.
I used this guide:
https://www.icy-veins.com/hearthstone/the-witchwood-monster-hunt-guide
They do a good job prioritizing what treasures / cards you should take.
https://www.icy-veins.com/hearthstone/monster-hunt-time-tinker-toki-guide
I got terrible treasures, but Double Time proved to be essential.
Flame Cannon with double time, was very effective.
Additionally, I snagged one of the buckets that had 'open the waygate' in it.
Used time warp three times on the later bosses
how i did it was double mana crystal passive and turn 3 viscious fledgling, even in this dungeon run version fledging can carry you hard if youre lucky on defensive draws and getting it out of removal range, by turn 8 it was a 10/13 with windfurry, toki didnt get a chance to activate the reset game card, sometimes beating it with toki just takes saying "screw spells im playing minionstone"
Thanks for the help :)
passive that doubles spells synergises with your quest, giving two additional turns in a raw. It's a solid win condition.
Any hints for succeeding with Toki? I defeated over 100 bosses with her now (unfortunately that's no joke) and reached Infinite Toki 4 times. But she always casted Alternate Timline and from there it was an autoloss for me every time. Is it possible to avoid that?
I pretty much one shot everything including infinte toki with lucky treasures. One that doubles the first spell you play each turn (targets chosen randomly) and + 3 spellpower. On turn 7 my Greater Arcane Missles were doing 36 damage and i had like 3 in my deck + regular arcane missiles.
Alright, thank you. Did it now after 130 attempts even without the double time treasure but I had 2x Robe of the Magi (spell damage +3) and lots of arcane missiles and cinderstorms. Well, nevertheless you have to be very lucky concerning your buckets and card draws. Good luck to all the other monster hunters out there, you will need it!
