Chakki Leaves Competitive Hearthstone and Joins the Final Design Team at Blizzard
Tempo Storm's Hearthstone Coach, Keaton "Chakki" Gill, has left the team to pursue a final design team opportunity at Blizzard.
Chakki got his start in competitive Hearthstone back in 2014 playing under the ManaGrind banner and later joining teams such as Dignitas and Luminosity. Most recently, Chakki participated in the HCT Toronto event and took 9th place in the tournament. Over the years he has remained consistently at the top placements at events and has been an outspoken member of the community when it comes to game balance and building great decks. His meme game has also been extremely on point and that better not change.
Do the community proud, Chakki! You can read Tempo Storm's statement here.
Quote from ChakkiStarting next month, I'll be working at Blizzard as a game designer on the Hearthstone final design team. Hearthstone has been a huge part of my life for the past few years, and I couldn't be more excited to be a part of the team.
Gratz Chakki!
Wow cool and good luck sir! Slightly envious ;)
This seems like a very good thing. Chakki's actually had some decent showings in Legend and on the Arena leaderboard at least once. I don't think anyone else on the dev team has any experience at higher level play that I know of. (unless it's someone fairly low key that doesn't make announcement headlines)
I while back there was a vacancy to be on the HS design team. One of the requirements was you having reached legend at least once, so they knew you had thourough understanding of the game at both high and low levels.
So low key that he tweets about it regullary like Iksar ?

That's a dream for me too. I have studied and even designed some mobile games, but living in a 3rd world country leave me with barely no time to develop, only to survive and pay my student debts
Well well, good for him! I recall a host stifling a laugh when Chakki said he stopped college for Hearthstone. Dream big and work hard!
I like how the community is predicting a card. Now we‘re trying to predict how a person will perform in his job. Let‘s just wait on Kripps next youtube video: How good is Chakki
That made me actually laugh, thank you sir.
Turns out Chakki is preeeeety good!
Chakki is one of the most analytic pro's I seen that always seem to understand the meta on a deeper level and how new cards impact it. Very good news to see him join the design team, best of luck!
When Blizzard doesn't know how to nerf a card
Maybe he'll help prevent utter shitfests like Cubelock from making it out there.
Is that the guy who said that Dr. Boom sucks and is nowhere as good as Troggzor, The Earthinator?
FUCKING EVERYONE SAID THAT!
IT WAS EARLY HEARTHSTONE, WE DIDNT SEE HOW QUICKLY A 6/6 COULD DIE, AND EVERYONE FUCKING THOUGH THAT DR. BOOM WAS BAD BECAUSE OF PRE NERF BIG GAME HUNTER.
now with my rant over I wish you a very nice day.
While it's great that Blizzard is adding pros to their "final design" (read: balance) team, the past couple years of MtG Standard have demonstrated that the presence of former professional players in development is no guarantee of high quality.
BFZ block, Emrakul, Copy Cat combo to name a few examples off the top of my head. Note that I didn't say "the current meta". But it took an awful lot of garbage to get to this stage.
Chakki is too arrogant for this position imo. Goodluck to him but i doubt he will last long.
Said someone who has fucking Putin as the avatar. Yeah, sure
Grats Chakki! Bring us new memes!
