Naxxramas Card Recap
With the addition of today's card, we're now up to a total of 11 known cards from Naxxramas, 6 of which are class cards. Check out the previously announced cards below!
I can actually see control mages, go completely spell based, except for legendaries, and mountain giants now.
Use spells to clear entire enemy board, turn after turn, with spell damage+ minions.
End game, have 6+ legendaries, plus mountain giants. Pop out the Duplicate secret the turn before you play a legendary, or, on same turn if playing Leeroy, or Cairne. Get 2 Cairnes/Leeroys next turn. Or, 2 Alex's. Or 2 mountain Giants, into a huge control hand of cards, enabling you to drop two on a Turn 10.
Nice and fun, but not very playable.
I suspect Kirin Tor Mage + Duplicate will be quite good and be run in mage decks which have enough other secrets.
What about playing this, and Deathwing on the next turn....
That way, even if DW get's BGH'd or, Faceless killed, you can drop one more (you waste one of the DW's by playing one).
Also... 3 Alexstraza's would be awesome, You can lower enemy HP, and then get 2 additional ~1-15 point heals, with your ice blocks saving you for as many turns as you need!
good idea, except for the frog possibility.
mages had too little aoe so I'm sure up to 4 extra abominations or baron geddons should be no issue. Or ragnaros for that matter
If secret mage decks became meta, then "Trap" hunters will be the real winners for sure.
The eventual goal with card expansions is that it becomes harder and harder to predict what your opponent will be playing. The more deck archetypes become playable the harder it is to create 1 deck that is good against every other deck. Naxxramas is just the first step in getting there.
Trap Hunters with Flare might be good against Secret Mages, but suck against Aggro mages or Control Mages. And all 3 might have a place in the meta with enough cards. Step by step we'll get to the point this is a reality, even if Naxx doesn't make it so yet.
They need to add some other card types later, with only minions, spells, and weapons the game is ridiculusly simple. I would love to see "enchantments" or quest like cards in the game, of course with cards that removes them. But what i really miss is the graveyard, and cards that interacts with dead minions.
This is going to be sweet in constructed. Your minions get extra value just from dying. If you build your deck around it you guarantee value all the time. Me like it.
I also, would love to play the secret, followed by an ethereal arcanist. The arcanist gets buffed up to a 5/5.
When the arcanist is killed, you get two copies of a 5/5 in your hand, and play ice block the next turn, plop down the two arcanists and watch them grow, till the end of the game.
No, that's not how it works, you get the normal Arcanist in your hand again, unbuffed.
You'll get two Arcanists back in your hand, I do not believe you'll get two buffed Arcanists back into your hand.
Also... If a hunter hunters marks, or a paladin equalities my massive legendary on the board, according to the card description, I get two copies of the card on the field. Since the card on the field, right before death had 1 health or 1 attack power, does that mean I get 2 copies of a worthless minion? (If so, Mage better pack a ton of silence in their decks)
No, of course not. You will get the normal card version and be able to play it again for normal mana cost.
Dunno. The card says, "When a minion dies, put 2 COPIES of it in your hand"... Sounds like it takes the current board status and puts that exact card, as is, in your hand.
It will be more like Ancestral Spirit, you get a copy of that minion if it was played as a card, not with the buffs.
I think we can rule out "exact copies" as it is dead at the time the secret triggeas which means the copies would also have 0 health which would be useless, therefore I think we can logically concluse that it just means copies of the base card.
edit I hit quote on an earlier post so I have no idea why it put my reply here despits getting the quote I wanted right
Although you have less instant effect as you do with AI, you have more control over what you draw (plus you don't exhaust your deck faster). Generally if it was good enough to put on the board last turn, it is good enough to put on the board again and again.
I assume the reason for all the secrets were they were too easy too guess.
I feel icky...
