Hearthstone World Championships to Have $250,000 Prize Pool
It has been announced that the Hearthstone World Championships which will be taking place at this year's BlizzCon from Nov 7th to the 8th will feature a $250,000 prize pool. The winning player will receive $100,000 USD. Check out below for more information on the qualifiers for Americas and Europe!
Really chaps my ass that because I live in Arizona, I have no hope of ever being able to participate in this. Since when is a FREE tournament in a FREE game considered anything close to gambling (the context in which I usually see my state of residency disallowing me from doing something)????
Holy 100k-quack!
question.... if i'm from Singapore and i created my account in Asia server... which qualifier do i join? the Americas since SEA is bound together with em?
dunno why blizz had to put South East Asia along with the Americas. quite confusing especially for people new to Blizz games.
According to the website:
Players residing in these countries are eligible to participate in the Last Call Tournament for the Americas region: United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Costa Rica, and Chile.
but my account is is Asia server. how's that? :(
Is pretty good..
Cripes. People that took Hearthstone tournaments with some seriousness are now taking it three orders of magnitude more serious now.
What we need is a Hearthstone World Rankings website. Something along the lines of the Golf World Rankings.
Only way to get world rankings like that if you had a decent array of tournaments where most of the same players showed up and competed, so you'd have a decent amount of rankings to process in some way to make a list out of it.
Current seperate rankings for Legend can't be used since they are region bound, and even the few people that play multiple regions will never be able to put in the same consistent amount of effort in all 3 of them to make combining those rankings viable.
We're approaching a point where we are getting a lot of weekly tournaments with a lot of the recognizable people attending each week. Not always the same people, but folks like Savjz are appearing twice per month on average.
The problem I have with Hearthstone ESports thing is, its still a game based on luck and drawing the right cards. There is only so much a deck and player contribute to the process.
other TCG is different? what about a land, land, land and land again topdecking in MtG finals :)
Kinda like poker.
So how many games do you think people will have played to get to the top 16 legendary?
