Possible Naxx Pricing Structure Leak

This information has not been officially announced by Blizzard. Also important to note that the information about the last wing also does not match previous information. The image is circulating Chinese sites. Please keep in mind none of this information is verified.

Update:

We haven't announced anything just yet regarding pricing for Naxx. Once we have details to share, we'll discuss them on official channels.
------
We understand that a lot of people are excited for the release of Curse of Naxxramas — we are too! However, we haven't announced anything just yet regarding pricing for the upcoming Adventure. Once we have further details to share, including pricing, we'll let everyone know via our official channels.

A wild slide has appeared! A number of websites in China have picked up an image of a slide which contains the pricing information for the upcoming Hearthstone adventure, the Curse of Naxxramas.

According to the image, all of Naxxramas will cost 5,000 Gold, or $90 USD (¥558). The image also states that wing prices will decrease by 100 gold by completing objectives in a previous wing. See below for a wing price breakdown.

WingBossesNew CardsGold PriceUSD PriceYuan Price
Arachnid Quarter 3 4 Free Free Free
Plague Quarter 3 4 500 $9 ¥55.8
Contruct Quarter 4 6 1,000 $18 ¥111.6
Military Quarter 3 5 1,500 $27 ¥167.4
Frostwyrm Lair 2 6 2,000 $36 ¥223.2

Naxxramas pricing seems much higher than the community feels it should be. What's your take on it?

This is absolutely fake because blizzard said the last wing will also be free and they officially announced that, Unless they lied which i doubt, this information is fake.

You're a little late to the party responding to this one. Blizzard has never said the last wing will be free, they also have not officially said you have to pay (I strongly think you do). All Blizzard has officially said is that the last wing unlocks when you complete the first 4 wings. That doesn't mean it's free it just means that you have to complete the first 4 prior to attempting the last.

Odds are this is fake, and I can prove it with simple math.

    4+4+6+5+6 =/= 30

I don't know if you guys know it already but CN players all know that this price isn't what we are going to pay, instead the fee is actually charged by someone who can help you to unlock the new cards.

Did no one notice that it's exactly a $9 increase per wing? Is it not possible that the number listed beside each wing is the TOTAL price someone would have to pay to play that wing, assuming you're playing them in order?

Would make a ton of sense, seeing as $9 is a pretty reasonable price.

Who knows though, we have no clue how long each wing will take to beat, so there really isn't any way to gauge if it is worth it or not.

I don't believe that the whole thing could cost 90$. That's just an insane amount of money for just a small 'adventure' expansion to this game...

I think each wing should be one flat price. Like 500 for each. Not an increasing amount. Thats just dumb

As a former Magic the Gathering player, I am amazed at the level of entitlement people are showing on here! In magic, decks cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars to build 1 stupid deck. The fact that in this game you can grind and not pay a cent and get every card is incredible. Blizzard doesn't owe us anything, guys! The fact we can use "in-game" currency to get the newest set makes me happy, I could care less if it was triple that cost!

Well said! I never played Magic, so it's good to get some perspective from people outside of the forums and Free-to-play community on pricing. I know I'm in the minority, but I actually like the idea of the gold requirement being so "high". Those of us who have been saving our gold for over a month now would be delighted to be the first to experience the new content, while the less prepared are forced to either wait and save their gold or pull out their wallets.

I've played World of Warcraft long enough to know that there are some people that just don't understand that they have to save up their gold to buy something expensive. They just resign to the idea that they can never afford it, complaining that Blizzard set the price too high while they go about their day spending every last penny and not seeing the connection between their choices and their situation. I don't feel sorry for them.

As for those of you who have not been buying card packs or playing arena for the last month or more, bravo! May Naxx be as fun as we all hope it will be!

As a fellow former Magic player, I'm amazed you'd tolerate the fact that even if you play this game for free you technically spend more than you ever would playing Magic...just to play a game that isn't netting you any actual profit. You make it sound like every Magic deck was so expensive to make. If all you did was play professionally, maybe. But hell, I could build a Magic deck for $20 just to play around with friends and have fun. Spend $20 to try and build a deck with Hearthstone and tell me how far you get. You might win a game, if you're lucky or they disconnect.

There's the ability to trade in Magic. Something Hearthstone does not offer. There's multiplay in Magic, something Hearthstone does not offer. Given everything the game DOESN'T offer, I think asking the cost of the first added thing they do bother to offer other than "play ranked versus legendaries, play unranked versus legendaries, or play arena" isn't really asking that much.

If this game was just Magic without an absolute need to spend money, I'd see your point. It's not. Not even remotely close.

The amount of fanboyism on these forums is pretty sickening. You're being downvoted for bringing up sound, logical complaints. What the hell is going on here? I really enjoy games by blizzard, but given their past successes, they should be held to the highest standard possible. If somebody can't take criticism being directed at something they love, they really need to get off the forums and head over to blizzard's t-shirt store.

Having said that, there are a lot of rather good free to play decks for hearthstone. They're not as exciting or interesting, but they do get the job done. You pretty much need to resign yourself to playing mage, or a class like it with great free cards. Compare this to warrior where your board clear is going to be extremely weak unless you craft 4 epic cards.

I have to agree with Fuzzy (and to a degree, Fenix) for the most part, but I think you're being a bit harsh on the "fanboys" here. I must agree with the fact that Magic isn't necessarily that expensive - I've built casual decks that beat my constructed Standard decks with ease for five bucks. There's also certainly a degree of overzealous defense of Hearthstone and Blizzard. However, I find Hearthstone rather inviting for a free player such as myself, since simply by playing well (averaging 5-6 wins), I can play an hour or more a day in Arena and not even touch constructed. When I do play constructed, I often play with only commons and a few rares, and with these, I manage to win certainly over half my games, and even when an actually relevant legendary does pop up (only once every other game or so), I can frequently overcome them. Thus, I find that some of Fenix's examples, specifically his 20$ deck proposal and his objection that constructed is "play versus legendaries" are unfounded. I also find that "free to play" decks can be rather fun, contrary to Fuzzy's second statement. Of course, this is personal evidence, but I started out losing most of my Arena matches and worked my way up, so I hope most can have a similarly pleasant experience.

I think my best example of a "free to play" deck that both functions in lower constructed and is rather entertaining to use is my warrior deck. The deck list is: 2 Execute, 2 Whirlwind, 2 Fiery War Axe, 2 Battle Rage, 2 Rampage, 2 Amani Berserker, 2 Bloodsail Raider, 2 Cruel Taskmaster, 2 Charge, 2 Frothing Berserker, 2 Raging Worgen, 2 Arathi Weaponsmith, 2 Dread Corsair, Arcanite Reaper, Spiteful Smith. There's only two rares in there (Frothing Berserker), and those could easily substitute for another Reaper and another Smith. The deck functions quite well, with many synergies that help rush down the opponent. It's often catches opponents off guard, as half the deck has surprise damage value - one of my more entertaining victories involved Charge, Raging Worgen and Cruel Taskmaster for 16 surprise damage (the enemy was already pretty much dead, but it was fun to see). Of course, I haven't brought it into the upper tiers of constructed, simply because I don't play constructed unless necessary (and then I play for entertainment, rather than maximizing my victory chance), but it's a serviceable and very cheap deck. You can also upgrade it later on, adding cards like Commanding Shout and Mortal Strike, or go for a less risky strategy by swapping out a few cards (Charge and Whirlwind come to mind) for things like Slam, Cleave or Heroic Strike. In any case, it's a fun and functional deck, and essentially free.

As a separate response to the pricing - Ouch. If those numbers are individuals, and not cumulative, I'm not looking forward to getting a hold of 5000 gold to go through. Of course, if the pricings are correct, and there's a few objectives per stage to lower the cost, plus opportunities to earn gold within the stages, I'd be totally fine with it - mostly, I just don't want Blizzard to ruin what was a near-zero grinding game into a slog for the shiny new cards in Naxxramas.

tl;dr - if you play well in Arena and play for fun in Constructed, this game is rather entertaining without costing you a penny.

Unless you get 5 cards off the bat... i only count 25 (even though the form claims 30) from the wings

    #188 Draccy (Live Patch 5314)

A card per wing (5), 9 cards for the challenges (9), a new card for each boss vanquished (15) and maybe a card once all others have been obtained (1) = 30.

    #185 Zaxlor (Live Patch 5314)

Please let it be 500 gold per wing. 250 per wing would be great!
