The Witchwood is Hearthstone's Next Expansion
The first expansion of the Year of the Raven has been announced! Six new cards have been revealed. You can pre-order the expansion on Battle.net right here.
- The expansion releases mid-April.
- New Keyword: Echo - These cards can be cast multiple times in the same turn.
- New Keyword: Rush - These minions can attack other minions the same turn they are played. Charge but not overpowered!
- Monster Hunt - Four unique heroes in a new version of Dungeon Run.
- Pre-order - Contains 70 card packs for the price of 40. You also get a card back.
- 135 new cards - No surprises there!
- Free stuff - Logging in when the expansion arrives gives you three free card packs and a random Class Legendary card.
- A new Shaman Hero Card, "Hagatha", is seen briefly at the end of the video. Ben Brode confirmed that this is the only Hero Card in this expansion. (Source)
- Every class will be getting 2 Legendary cards this expansion. (Source)
Press and members of the community will begin revealing The Witchwood cards starting March 26 PDT!
You can find the official Hearthstone page for The Witchwood here.
New Cards
The cards are not yet in our database. We're working on getting the site ready for the new expansion.
- The Hero Power upgrade from Baku the Mooneater is the same as the one from Justicar Trueheart. (Source)
Card Backs
There are two new card backs. The first is available with the expansion pre-order and the second is a reward from Monster Hunt.
Monster Hunt
- Works like Dungeon Run in that you play a hero against bosses and build a deck as you progress.
- Does not use normal Hearthstone heroes, this has four unique characters.
Below are pictures of the Cannoneer, Houndmaster, Time Tinkerer, and Tracker heroes from Monster Hunt.
New Gameboard
As always, Hearthstone is getting a new game board with the expansion.
https://wow.gamepedia.com/Drustvar (note: it does not refer to drustvar but drustvar is full of witches/witchcraft in wow)
A town in a trailer reminds Gilneas. However, there is one Witchwood in WoW in Highmountain Broken Isles. But I don't think is the same. It's rather just a Hearthstone feature. Closest WoW equivalent is Blackwald in Gilneas, Gilneas as a whole or southern Silverpine near Shadowfang Keep.
Its location in Highmountain on Broken isles

But similar to Glineas start zone forrest
For me expansion more remainds Bradensbrook, Val'sharah (Broken Isles)
Or Pyrewood Village (ruins) ( southwestern Silverpine Forest)
Baku , Phantom and militia are pretty good , The rest are mistakes.
You know 6 cards out of 135 and already can predict the meta ?!
You are free to use your pumpkin peasant bro
I'm in hype now!

Rush, the only fitting nerf Fiery war axe should've had to solve its pirate problems.
That Echo Taunt minion is pretty nice for Quest Warrior. Not broke, but useful.
Welcome back, Rank Up!!
Only too bad after rotation 5 of 7 Warrior legendaries are even-cost (and they all cost 8 haha) :(
Charged Devilsaur will not be changed.

Can only imagine Icehowl will not change either.
But Devilsaur is different while Icehowl is the original Rush effect
Icehowl isn't limited to the turn it is played, so it would need extra text beyond the rush keyword anyway
Icehowl has a permanent can't attack face, why would it be buffed
makes devilsaur memier when you can cheat it out and ignore the battlecry.
Neither cards work exactly like rush does so they shouldn’t change them.
I want to see it as soon as its possible!!!
