Quest for Packs Giveaway has an Additional Grand Prize
As announced earlier today by Blizzard, the Grand Prize for the Quest for Packs promotion has been leveled up. This should help the winner offset the taxes on the prize, "a daunting prospect". The total grand prize is now as follows.
- 3000 Hearthstone Packs
- The Lich King's Helmet
- Hearthstone Apparel Gift Set (T-shirt, cap, and pin)
- $1200 (USD)
Be sure to login every day and do a daily quest so you get an entry into the contest. More information can be found here.
Quote from DaxxarriWe hope your Quest for Packs has been going well so far. We’ve heard hopeful adventurers voice concerns that the idea of winning the Grand Prize is a daunting prospect. That’s not in the spirit of a proper quest, so to help smooth your way, we’re making the rewards sweeter.
The Grand Prize will now include $1200.00 USD.
We’ve updated our Quest for Packs blog with this new prizing information. You can also read updated contest rules here!
Thanks for joining us in the tavern, and good luck on your quest!
Guys, stop worring about paying taxes for 3000 packs. They are not your property anyway. All of this is property of blizzard. DO you think that you own your account? So for what you will pay tax? For Blizzard property or for the fact that you was chosen? When you buy packs, you are paying tax as for buying everything else in the internet. As well if you win a "cup" for something would you pay taxes for it? I doubt that you will pay for helm and t-shirt. Are you paying taxes for winning a t-shirt from some conference for example? Of course if you win MONEY in lotery, you will pay. Or Car.
Blizzard has to report a 1099 to the IRS. They WILL know.
We are talking about pixels here, there is no production cost involved; blizzard isn't losing a thing!
This downvoting here, wow. A person made a wrong assumption, somebody helped correcting it and everyone else hits the downvote button like a horde of denouncers. Get your blood pressures down before you explode :D
To mutch RNG in this game...
I'm a reader of this forum for almost 3 years and all I do is read comments always complaining about something (Meta, Nerfs, Giveaways,RNG, bla bla bla).
Can you guys please enjoy one of the gratest card games of all time? Nobody gives nothing to anybody and blizard isn't exception. If you like it play it, if not you can just leave the game and search something else to do.
Best Regards and be happy
While I would not agree with "one of the gr(e)atest card games of all time" part (as it's strongest point is the nice and easy Smartpone UI + the name Blizzard behind it) I also see no reason to complain on giveaways
I don't see reason for any complaining... people forget that's A GAME. Not all of us can be super star Legend or be the HCT Champion.
The game needs everything: the 25 rank angry chicken that's just starts and loses to anybody, the 10/15 rank average player, the rank 5/4/3 (my case) and then the guys who are naturally talented to card games(or with nothing to do in their lifes :D).
This is a fact and people need to understand it.
Best Regards
I understand you. Reading negative comments can feel disheartening and make you feel bad for enjoying the game. I've experienced it myself when I was really excited about the reveals for Journey to Un'Goro, but all that people had to say about pretty much every new card was how bad it is, which pretty much ruined it for me. There have been times I wanted to say what you said.
However, I'm sorry to say this, but it does not work this way. To begin with, it is silly not to tolerate negative opinions, especially when that's all they are. Most comments are fair criticism; nobody is getting insulted or threatened or anything like that. It's just people stating their opinion, which is perfectly fine. If you try to get in contact with other people, if you want to hear/read their opinions, you have to accept, even anticipate, that not everybody will agree with you.
That being said, I'm a very critical person myself. There are many things about this game that genuinely frustrate me, and at times, I want to be vocal about it. So, why don't I just drop it and leave and let everybody else enjoy it? First of all, I'm not trying to ruin the game for you. I can only speak for myself, but I try to draw a line between being frustrated and criticising the game. I try to be reasonable and explain myself without relying on blunt, polarizing statements. Thus, other people that don't agree with me can try to correct me where exactly I'm wrong. I make mistakes, and in many cases people can see things differently. A good example is, how some people really like the randomized tavern brawls while others dislike them. I am usually one of the others, but when I say why I dislike a randomized tavern brawl, I try to explain why I don't enjoy that particular form of randomness. But I actually enjoyed Valeera's Bag of Spells.
But the reason I criticise the game, why I'm not leaving despite my frustration, is because I still genuinely enjoy the game. I am passionate about it, I care about it, I want to see the game doing well and I want to see it get better. If it would just annoy me, if I would be at a point where I really don't care anymore, I could just drop it and leave. But the truth is, it is kinda important to me. And that is silly, that seems immature, but so what, other people get passionate about their favorite sports team or any other one of their hobbies. To me, it's video games. And if I care about something, I become emotionally invested which makes it impossible for me to just sit there and not say anything at all. It's just "human". Everybody is like this about certain things, even if it's silly and ultimately meaningless.
And of course people will point out that my criticism is pointless, that it's futile to talk about it because I cannot change anything. That is true, but it won't stop me. It might be a waste of time right here, but from the people here, my opinion might pass on to someone else who can pass it on to someone else who eventually is in the position to change something. That might sound naive, but that's as good a reason as any. Also, I get some enjoyment from criticising things. I know that sounds stupid, but to me, it's fun to analyze things and point things out and come up with strong and compelling arguments. That's just me, and at least I like to think it's something I'm good at. And that's hopefully helping others as well. I know I'm not the only one who's not all happy with the game right now, but others might find my line of argument more to the point, and I might be helping them to reflect on what exactly bothers them. You know, how you might read something and say "yes, couldn't have said it any better"? So, it helps if there's someone being able to do just that.
I could go on and on, but my point is, I just won't stop being critical of the game. It does not work for me. I cannot be silent, I don't want to, and there is a point in me not being silent. I truly am sorry if I am one of those people who ruins the game for you. That is not my intention and I will try to keep in mind that I might negatively influence someone. However, I'm me, I'm doing "me", so that's why I'm here.
Please accept that.
Maybe you should learn how to spell before you go complaining about people exercising their consumer rights.
I'm little disappointed. My country is not eligible for this lottery. Have a good luck guys !
Ok, but... what's the point???
Can someone explain to me why would you have to pay taxes for winning hearthstone packs? They are worth 0$ in real world, aren't they?
Thats bad, i'm not eligible. Nothing change for me. -_-
I am looking at these news in sadness at United Arab Emirates #NotEligible
Because Blizzard's policy document for this giveaway says so :(
There many countries this time, but we are not counted in.
