The Great Summoner's Competition (Standard) is This Weeks Brawl!
Summoners from across the world have come to compete. When you cast a spell, a random minion of the same cost is summoned for you!
Trivia
- This is a brand new brawl by name only! This is the third time the theme has been seen.
- The brawl is a Standard version of one of the first brawls we ever saw.
- The Great Summoner's Competition debuted on July 8, 2015.
- The last time this brawl was around, Standard and Wild were not in existence.
- Curse of Naxxramas, Goblins vs Gnomes, and Blackrock Mountain were the only sets available in the first 2 runs of this brawl.
How it Works
- Choose yourself a class and build a deck using cards from your standard collection.
- Every time you cast a spell, a random minion will be summoned that is of the same cost.
Discuss This Week's Brawl
Head on over to our dedicated discussion thread on our Tavern Brawl forums.
They really need to work on these brawl names. Last week it was OTK Brawl, now it's Druid Brawl. Well played.
Nice!
You start playing this brawl and you are having an awesome time and than your opponent gets 4 mana 7/7 and you get 6 mana 3/3 and you start questioning your existance...
After around 10 games i've realized that this is probably one of the worst brawls when it comes to originality. Literally, i'm not even joking all of the 10 games i've played were against Priests. I swear to everything i did not see any other class being played in this brawl. Kinda dull tbh.
I've played against like 6 druids in a row. Beat them all though, so can't complain.
Yeah after reading through this topic i've realised that alot of people got matched against Druids. Interestingly enough i was playing Druid in this brawl and i was not matched against any other Druid only priests.
Were you by any chance playing Priest in this brawl? Maybe just maybe they've disabled mirror matches in this brawl?
Tinfoil hat is ready tho. :D
Yeah I was playing Priest actually. Played ~18 games so far and never faced another priest.
You may be right, although I don't understand why they would want to disable mirrors.
Again this random shit...
I just found out how broken Pilfered Power is in this brawl. Since it summons a minion before activating, you're guaranteed a mana crystal and can often get 3 off of it. This is what I've been using so far with good success.
Golden Gruul on NA, Deathwing on EU.

Druid Brawl all the way through. crazy ramps, crazy boards and also Ultimate Infestation. Try the fun decks while you're at few wins
I can confirm that once you get a high amount of wins its just Druid after Druid.
I wouldn't bother using Ultimate infestation, the card is too slow for this brawl. You win or lose early due to power of the wild and mark of the lotus flood combos.
I disagree. Ultimate Infestation fills the hand again which can be necessary if someone gets a lucky clear on your minions. With enough ramp it's easy to get to 10 mana.
One of the best brawls! I wish they eventually make the brawls come in groups so we see them more often. I could play this every other week!
To the person whose day I ruined with my Jade Druid literally drawing the nuts, I apologize from the bottom of my heart.
'Preciate the free pack, though.
Turns out headcrack rouge is a fun one for me.
I'm pretty sure we had this brawl this year.
I stopped playing for almost 3 years after beta, came back in January and I remember playing this brawl since.
I've done a video for every tavern brawl. The last time this braw came out, it was Tavern Brawl #9, and I posted the video August 12, 2015. Standard first started in April of 2016.
Whenever I do a repeat brawl, I link it back to the previous time we've done that brawl, and I was just as surprised as you. I really thought we had done one more recently than that.
There is the brawl that casts spells when you play minions called Battle for Tol Barad, and the last time we had that was this year, in February.
might be mistaking it for the yogg saron brawl, or the one with the free spells from minions
I think it's because we played Valeera's Bag of Burgled Spells more recently, which also summons a minion when you play a spell (but uses a premade deck)
