How to Clear the Prologue and Lower Citadel Effectively
Frozen Throne has been launched! With this new expansion comes a set of free mission content for you to complete which rewards you with a Death Knight hero card and some sweet card packs. This week we're able to complete the Prologue and the first wing, the Lower Citadel.
We've written guides and tested decks to help you in your adventures through Icecrown Citadel, so if you need some helping picking a deck to play for them, the hard work is done! Below you'll find links to everything you will need.
Prologue - The Lich King
Our first step into Icecrown Citadel puts us up against the Lich King. He cheats though so of course we're unable to do anything except rise back up as Dreadlord Frost Lich Jaina. Our master, The Lich King, then puts us up against Tirion Fordring and his... less than ideal (for him) set of recruits.
Lower Citadel - Lord Marrowgar
No more premade decks, we're getting serious. Lord Marrowgar is our first real opponent in the adventure and if you want to take him down, you're going to need to do so in one turn thanks to his hero power, Skeletal Reconstruction. Don't mind the Bone Spike, they're not at all annoying to play against provided you enter well equipped.
Lower Citadel - Deathbringer Saurfang
To Arms! Deathbringer Saurfang is the second boss we encounter in the Lower Citadel. He won't make this an easy fight though since he requires that you only fight him in weapon to weapon combat. Watch out for those Blood Beast heals!
Lower Citadel - Lady Deathwhisper
Our final fight of the week puts us up against Lady Deathwhisper, or the one that loves messing around with Valithria Dreamwalker and The Lich King. The fight revolves around keeping your dragon friend alive and smacking Deathwhisper in the face. Oh. So. Satisfying.
If only she had an Arcane Explosion.
Too ez lol. I beat all of them in all 3 different servers even though I didn't even have the full basic set in some of them. Played midrange hunter for the first boss and beat it easily in the first try. Used weapon warrior for the second boss and beat it jn the first try again. Crushed the last boss with basic healing cards and a silence lol
Well, the bosses seriously were kinda too easy. I mean just normal lvl of previous adventures.
1. Normal buff priest played in construct. 1 try, too easy.
2. Normal pirate warr played in construct. 1 try, too easy.
3. Normal quest shaman played in construct. 2 try, too easy.
I was even too lazy to forge the decks for the bosses, so just took constructed ones and finished the wing.
I mean that's kinda disappointing adventure for one of the major villains in Warcraft history. No heroic mode, no challenge until week 3 (and I believe there won't be any challenge either).
1. Token Druid
2. Pirate Warrior
3. Just put everything with "heal" on it in Priest
Thanks for strategy. What i did was turn 2 equality hit for 30, turn 3 annoy-o-tron hit for 30, turn 4 adaptation (topdecked it lol) into windfury into win.
defeated marrowgar with steal your bone spikes priest, then went with pirate warrior to saurfang and at the end exodia paladin against deathwhisper.
the bosses were actually preety fun forr a free to play experience.
Used my own Exodia Paladin and won 1st try in all 3 games . Really hope the next wing is going to be more of a challenge
Was very disappointed the difficulty.
I am teaching my 6y/o to play HS and he was able to defeat the first wing without any input from me regarding plays... 1st attempt on all 3 bosses. Only thing I helped with was reading the card text, he made all play decisions himself.
Super hard blizz... although the little guy was super proud and the pack gave him a golden Sindragosa so I guess I have to thank blizz for the golden bonding opportunity here. Pun intended.
Well played sir. Well played, have a cookie.
uh... it isn't, though. nice try!
Not sure why I received all the down votes... This is an actual occurence and a memorable occasion for myself and my son.
Anybody care to say why they downvoted?
I downvoted you because
1. The challenge of the first wing was building the decks, mostly for Lady Deathwhisper. The challenge isn't great, true, but winning the battle with the deck already built isn't interesting or relevant.
2. Coming from a background of high-level tournament chess, six year-olds can play THAT game very competently. So why is it surprising they can play okay at Hearthstone, a simpler game?
3. Most importantly, no one gives an iota of a damn about you or your kid. You might think that harsh, but this is a site dedicated to Hearthstone.
No one is interested in hearing about your sex life, your drug use, who you voted for in the last election, or about your bonding time with your kid.
Thanks for the response.
You're heartless.
No, it's more that you're just an idiot.
Normal people can comprehend that complete strangers on the Internet browsing a Hearthstone fansite don't care about your personal life. And that's why we downvoted you.
ez bro... can't wait for next week !
A little more challenging, but not bad, I guess.
Ready for next week.
How are these more challenging than usual? Are they comparing them to Kara? I beat all three on the first attempt with existing decks. No prior knowledge of the encounters. Shaman, get things on the board and bloodlust. Pirate warrior, build weapon, hit face. Priest, heal, silence, control board, hit face.
Hopefully it gets a little more challenging, but other than the final fight against the Lich King, I am not expecting much.
These are definitely more challenging than previous adventures for me. Marrowgar can be beaten if you get lucky and steal his bone spikes or get some good divine spirit / inner fires, or manage to pull off an exodia combo, but none of these are very consistent. If you beat him first try with the first deck you picked, I'd say you were very lucky.
Not lucky. I read his hero power. He heals to full each turn. So obviously I need to do 30 damage in one turn. Bloodlust seemed like the obvious choice. Flood the board. Lust. Win. Druid and savage roar is another obvious choice. No luck involved. I think you're confusing luck and basic logic.
