It's biggest weakness is that it can be killed by minions the during the opponent's turn, disabling its effect immediately.. if just it was a battlecry lasting until your next turn it would have been so much better!
this won't see play
This seems to be used in tournament decks, countering freeze mage and rogues?
Not-Loatheb? Noatheb?
Seems pretty impactful. Not the best body, but if you play it into the Firelands Portal turn the fact that it's a 5/5 that can't be cleared by Portal on curve would rub some salt into the wound. And for similar reasons as Loatheb, it helps combat combo hands like you see in Rogue, Priest and Mage. Plus it's a persistent effect, which is nice if you're light on spells. I could easily see this card fit into a Handbuff Paladin deck.
I C U!
6 Mana is too expensive for an effect that doesn't last the whole turn. This will be mighty annoying to freeze mages though.
Pretty sure this is a permanent effect as long as the minion is on the board, Like Mana Wraith and Nerub'ar Weblord
I think we can all agree we don't want any more broken cards. If this was a 4 mana 4/5, then it would be a lot more broken. Moreso if on only affected your opponent. It would be a guaranteed win card in Mage or Jade Druid Mirrors.
The greatness of this card is that it is marginal. Its not a must add to your deck because it blows all combo and burn decks out of the water. For example, a mage with enough burn and alex on the board could still win. But it makes the window for that win condition narrower. So it lowers their win percentage, making the game more balanced. This card means you can't play Archmage and Ice Block on the same turn. Also - this card slows down auctioneer, which slows down Jade Idol.
That is exactly what we want from blizzard. A balanced game. Not just to knock decks out of the meta because people complain about loosing to them. Those that include it in their deck get a reasonable advantage against certain decks, but a disadvantage against others. Then we don't have people screaming about this card on the "Hall of Fame 2018" thread.
we don't want more broken cards but its fine to keep playing with all the broken cards we have mostly in mage that gets you down voted to oblivion if you suggest slightly that some of them might be a tad annoying
COOL LOATHEB, but not cool enough.. :/
disagree - 1st, not a legendary so expect poor face-to-face compare. Second, the effect is ongoing, so if he lives he keeps punishing. 3rd, not a legendary, so you can run two-of, 4th, dat card art tho.
Also, in wild it should be noted that loatheb is usually an aggro card to prevent opponent spell swings when you is close to finishing off opponent. This card is decidedly less aggressive because you don't have such a huge one turn shield from spells. It would be nice if this had a nerubian tag or whatever tag to go with it tho. Blizz needs more solid epics and a 6 mana mini loatheb might not see as much play as I wish it would. I always thought loatheb was so interesting - you play him and it is a mystery if he mattered or not cause you don't know what your enemy is holding though - on the other side it is easy to know when you are totally rect by loatheb tho and when you weren't going to play a spell anyway.
Looks good enough against Freeze Mage, as in the typical scenario where your opponent has 1 life and "a secret" (which is Ice Block), and just played Alexstrasza, knowing that he'll be able to kill you on the next turn with a bunch of spells.
could see play in zoo as a tech card vs spell heavy decks
i would rate it 2/5
think this could be great in a zoo deck.
:D sure
zoo needs 6 mana 5/5
basically unplayable - effect on both sides + enemy still can casts spells to kill this minions or you, coz it increases costs only on 2 mana, all removeals and burn still castable.
btw even unplayable on 5 mana, but im happy, they again start making shit-tier epics, hope top-tier cards would be common/rare.
6mana 5-5.... DansGame.... You guys remember what happend to Troggzor the Earthinator right? It was a 7mana 6-6 with similar effect.
I just dont feel a 6mana 5-5 being played, that also affects your hand.
This card is really good imo cause it counters a lot of late game powerful spells. This way your opponent has to sacrifice his board to remove this which gives you the board in some situations..Having this card in mid-range/control decks, gives you good way to prevent board clears or even tempo swings and gives you a good 5/5 minion on board..It's not that op but his effect can be crucial in some situations!
When you look at the minion stats and mana cost it definitely doesn't look like a card with a symmetrical effect.
The obvious problem is it has a very weak body, so it can be cleared with virtually any board, but, compairing to Loatheb, there is one more major disadvantage: Loatheb's effect is unremovable, and this one will be gone the moment the creature is killed.
Of course, there are situations where this card is incredibly good, but I suppose it will too often be just a 6 mana 5/5 with semi-taunt to see any actual constructed play.
Yeah great but Corrupted Healbot already exists: better stats, lower mana cost, and has way less of a downside.
But since it also screws up the opponent spells I guess it would be pretty good in some cases. Certainly problematic for mage.
This affect enemy spells too :) it is like a removable mini-Loatheb
