Enjoying the Special Hearthstone Events? They Won't Stop Here!
We've begun to cool off from Ragnaros' Midsummer Fire Festival with Ahune's arrival this week. According to Iksar, they aren't done here and we'll be seeing more special events in the future. These events have been in the works for some time.
Over a year ago, a dedicated team was created for Brawls, Fireside Gatherings, and the special events we're now experiencing. It looks like we're finally getting to see the fruits of their labor.
Quote from IksarHSGlad you like them. In the last year and a half or so we dedicated a team to what we call live-content that includes brawls, fireside gatherings, events like these, and a bunch of other cool stuff. I've been excited for these two events to go live for awhile now and I know they have a bunch of other things in store for the future you all will enjoy. Thanks for the feedback!
What's wrong with your math? The lowest amount of gold you could receive on the double gold quest was 80. So if you did your quest and won at least 6 games a day that's 100 gold daily at least.
Variety is the spice of life, man.
The double gold event was nice, it will allow us to get a few extra packs.
However, this even is also awesome, after so long i get to play arena again. It was a refreshing experience, and a good change of pace. Im already waiting for the next free run next week, all arena rewards that you may get are absolutely free stuff, as you got them completely for free.
Also, Blizzard please, implement a free arena run monthly, or as rank 20 reward, or as quest reward. Arena needs an influx of new players, and free runs should be handed out regularly. But anyway thanks so much, all these events, rewards and free stuff are incredible :)
The risk vs. reward argument is fair. However I for one am not a particular fan of standard arena. It feels like a tempo-fest where it's incredibly difficult to recover if your opponent has snowballed early. Maybe you can combat a strong start if you not only were lucky enough to be offered the right answer(s) in your draft, but you also drew it at the right time. Sure, draw RNG is a factor in every game, but there are many fewer consistency issues in constructed. It sucks to look at your deck before you've even played a game and go "I made the best selections from everything I was offered and I'm stuck with this steaming pile of $#&^?"
Not everyone likes playing arena.
I know I'm going to play 3 games for the quest and retire.
I never really enjoyed arena all too much, just isn't as fun as constructed for me. Only have 18 wins in it I believe. That said, not all too great at it, have way more fun playing stupid decks, so arena isn't really the best investment for me.
Wow you aren't too smart, are you?
Like you can't do the quest for 40 gold or win 6 games for additional 20 when it's not fire festival ...
I basically already got more from frost festival than from fire festival after 2 arena runs, I know a lot of people suck at arena, but still it last 1.5 times as long and you are guaranteed around 700 gold total across the time if you really suck because of the free win. But if you are decent at arena or get lucky you get more from ahune than from ragnaros. plus arena is fun.
Geeze, sounds like you may be a Natural with arena. I'm super-stoked if I get a 5-3. I draft poorly and trade too much.
what gwent and others concurrents do... i love this
It would be incredible if Blizzard continues to take this further with fun festive seasonal events like this. Would be hilarious if they added throwing Jack-O-Lanterns like in World of Warcraft from Hallows End being able to throw a pumpkin over your opponents head and he does the whole AHAHAHAHA thing as it flys across the board.
I *really* hope we're going to see real seasonal stuff happen now. Hallow's End is one of my favourite World of Warcraft and IRL holidays so it would be truly amazing to see something like this for it!
Seasonal events are always cool.
They don't even need to be spectacular, as long as each event has its own particular features.
They could actually use these events to create ad hoc dungeon wings or encounters, with a pair of new cards as reward, just for the sake of novelty in between releases.
What would be really cool, and this was something we actually briefly brought up in our staff chat, was if Blizzard added the ability to unlock these special emotes through these events and we could somehow make use of them throughout the year. Customization is awesome.
The WoW TCG that Hearthstone is based off of had seasonal and holiday themed events/promos all the time. We sort of see a little of that in HS now, but it'd be cool to see it more often and be more engaging like the past few weeks. Glad to see they've been putting effort into making the game more entertaining and lively outside of the usual grind.
I mean, they had to do something eventually. The game is an absolutely awful state right now. Everyone is playing tier 1 decks, the tiny amount of exploration left isn't shaking up the meta. If it wasn't for the festivals, the talk would be 90% negative at the moment.
Hopefully the card reveals and inevitable reviews we get from streamers can entertain us until launch.
Of course everyone is gonna play tier 1 decks :P people like to win.
It's just some people will never be staisfied with anything, right? There will always be tier 1 decks dominating the meta (which is why those decks are called "tier 1 decks"), but if you take a step back and think about the current meta, you'll realize that we have like 5-7 tier 1 deck material (which is a lot), plus a lot of viable tier 2 decks being only slightly less powerful than tier 1 decks.
Apart from that, top tier decks fluctuate constantly from Un'Goro launch (with the exception of PW). It's the best meta in months, dude.
