The 100th Tavern Brawl is this Week! Here's What to Expect
Our little Tavern Brawl has grown up so fast.
We're a few weeks off a full 2 years of Tavern Brawls, but 100 is an equally important milestone for the game mode! Blizzard certainly agrees to some degree since we found out via datamining in Patch 8.0 that they have something special planned for this week.
We're Playing ALL THE BRAWLS!
Okay that's a slight overstatement, but we will be playing quite a few of them this week! You will be given a random brawl from the list below once you get into game, and your opponent may end up with a different one!
All the brawls available use random decks of cards even if the original brawl allowed for deckbuilding.
- Idols of Azeroth - Your deck is made up of 30 Raven Idols.
- Randomonium - Your deck is made up random cards that switch their costs every turn.
- Banana Brawl - Your deck is made up of random cards. Whenever one of your minions dies, you get a banana.
- Yogg-Saron Tryouts - Your deck is made up of random minions that each cast a random spell when played.
- Party Portals! - This player's deck is made up of random portal cards.
- Cloneball - Your deck is made up of multiple copies of a few random legendaries.
- Valeera's Bag of Burgled Spells - Your deck is made up of 30 random spells that each summon a minion when played.
- Too Many Portals! - Your deck is made mostly of Unstable Portals, as well as a few extra cards.
- ShiftCon - Your deck is made mostly of Shifter Zerus, as well as a few extra cards.
Which Brawl did you Enjoy the Most?
Our of the nine brawls in the rotation, which one did you enjoy the most?
Are you Looking Forward to Tavern Brawl 100?
Tell us how you really feel.
I find myself less and less amused by RNG. Especially the kind that overwrites any kind of dependence on skill to determine a winner, and that's what is exactly the kind you get on lots of brawls. When you remove even deck construction as a factor you're basically drawing blindly hoping for a high roll on RNG, or at least not way lower than your opponent, playing mostly on curve.
I have way more fun on build-around mechanics, like banana brawl or the one that made you chose between 4 buffs (+1/+1 to battlecry/deathrattle minions, armor when a spell is cast or 1/1 murloc @ EoT). Crazy rules, but no bullshit from your opponent who happened to get a decent deck/RNG when your was terrible.
Then don't play brawl?
Burgled spells is pretty BS compared to the rest since every card is a 2-for-1. At least Yogg Sauron tends to blow up your own board if you get ahead.
Cool brawl, but I feel like some of them could be more, epic. How many times have we had randomonium, and when's the last time we had rag vs nef?
They really need to give us a way to play past brawls with at least our friends.
And hey, maybe not a complete list of brawls, they can be selective about it. I could understanding wanting to keep the better brawls reserved for filler weeks here and there but stuff like The Banana Brawl and, as you mentioned, Rag vs Nef, they have such low odds of showing up again it's a shame that content is now gone.
That line of logic didn't stop them from removing adventures though!
Pls bring Wild adventures back Blizzard. Plenty of folks I know who never got to play Naxx.
Give us the "unnerfed" brawl, reverting every nerfe since the freeze one in closed beta. Cancer as never seen before...
Or a "every card played in every class" one.
So curious to see how they play out! Is there room for pirates in a uth/buzzard-huntertaker? How is tempomage with prep and innervate?
I've always wanted something similar for wild, allowing most unnerfed versions of cards back into that format, so I'd be all for it in a brawl.
Ugh. Well I guess it's better than Heroic. But really, is it too much to ask for a new brawl? One that's not just literally rolling dice? Give us more unique effect, condition, and teamwork brawls please! Not just, summon/cast/play a random xyz and a random player wins.
For a special celebration of all the tavern brawl, one player gets to play heroic tavern brawl (but they still auto lose).
I feel like the Unstable Portal deck and the Yogg-Saron deck would win if they go head to head with the others
I'm really interested in seeing which decks come out on top. Pretty cool though
I didn't even realize it has been 100. I am remembering when there wasn't even a Tavern Brawl button...
They extended from 9 deck slots to 18. c:I feel like the Unstable Portal deck and the Yogg-Saron deck would win if they go head to head with the others
Edit: Sorry my wifi lagged and posted this comment twice. Guess that's what the downvotes are from.
